  1. Not as odd as then picking it up 7 years later and making big swathing comments about what makes everyone else on basschat wrong. this wine is ace.
  2. Where’s the tramp on chips now eh?
  3. Jesus @Clarky I’ve just eaten
  4. I’ve got a roll you can have.
  5. Is it the wrong time to bring up Sue Ryder?
  6. Can you lock the door before you go so to speak - my brain hurts
  7. Here’s my squier. It’s ace
  8. I want to say Bombay Roll. is that allowed. God. I don’t know.
  9. I don’t know what you’re getting at - you’re obviously an intelligent fellow. I’m being facetious. Your posts are coming across as intentionally argumentative - that doesn’t sit well with me. People are trying to be helpful, constructive and adding their own opinion and you’re not getting it. Anyhow. Enjoy your bass - whatever it may be 👍🏼
  10. Is it Christmas yet? anyone got a stenback I can borrow/nick. got a blue miller and a Half a packet of quavers (which I was saving for my breakfast).
  11. Who’s in charge here? It feels like talkbass. “Am I wrong?” “I don’t know, are you?” ”no, you are” ”am I?” ”yes - idiot” ”oh...ok...” ”who are you talking to, yourself?” ”yes you” ”am I?” ”I don’t know”
  12. I know penniless violinists who own £10,000 plus instruments. I know one violinist who has a long term loan from an investment company...don’t really know the ins and outs. I’m not wealthy by any stretch, but I’ve got some nice basses. I work, and I put away and buy what I want when I can. I want to try a Tom Stenback Bass - they’re about £6000, and it’d take a windfall or lottery win to get one. They’re Fender “copies” - really fancy one though. Each to their own. Life is way too short - I’m enjoying my £6.99 bottle of wine. I know some folks won’t spend less than £10 on a bottle and I’ve got mates who drink lambrini. End result is the same. And nobody in my band’s audience gives 2 plops wether I’m playing a Sadowsky (which in reality looks like a Squier p/j) or a banjo.
  13. My wine was cold enough by the way...magic.
  14. Just “troll” @Happy Jack
  15. Trolli? Hang on - quick google translate coming up
  16. You make them all sound alright though. ☺️
  17. You’ve got Hulk to worry about
  18. My main custom shop was a beauty. I have played lots - all were nice, but they were variable. I’d not waste time arguing who’s right or wrong about wether an AC is worth more or less than a Fender custom shop in terms of outlay vs reward etc. If I walk into, I dunno - Bass Direct with £5000 (yeah right, £500 would be a push...) - and I walk out with a sadowsky, my rough guess would be that @walshy would walk out with a Lakland, @bassfan would pick a status and @lee650 would buy a Spector - I know @three would buy another Alembic and spend about £6000 on maintaining it and refurbishing it 😂😂😂 We’re all different - I personally find ACG’s visually repugnant, but I know @Merton has about 7 of them and 5 on order. If you don’t like AC for looks or reputation...that’s fine. I’ve played a lot of basses and I completely get why each one would find a home - I certainly wouldn’t be bashing people over the head for not liking any of mine. My sadowsky is a p clone with an ugly (eagle beak) headstock - but it’s feels and sounds ace. Not worth the worry nor the complaint. Bigger fish to fry - like ‘is my wine chilled yet?’ And so on.
  19. I don’t know, think a tin foil hat comes in the case too...
  20. Give me a sec https://www.talkbass.com/threads/my-horrible-alleva-coppolo-experience.1006426/page-41
  21. Yeah, he didn’t do himself any favours. Don’t his basses now have something about a 9/11 conspiracy theory on the back of the headstock now? I don’t know. I really wanted one for a period of time. I’d buy a sadowsky or lull blind...but with an AC I’d want it in my hands first. There are a lot of small niggly stories regarding such a high end luthier. Edit - yes there is a laser etched 9/11 reference on the basses now.
  22. I’ve actually just found that thread on TB. Also from 2013... I think the bit where the builder accused the customer of doctoring photos of flaws was a highlight. For a TB thread it was quite lucid.
  23. I played one when @three had one for a fleeting moment. He had a blue one - but it was a sunburst one he brought to me. It felt very special - and sounded great. I seem to recall it was an earlier one with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The only thing I could pick at was the scratchplate/pickguard was a bit rough - but again I think they were hand cut and finished at the time - and the playability/sound absolutely made up for it. The headstock of AC basses I actually quite liked - and in person, it made sense. I haven’t played or seen one since - but, much like the Celinder P with a bound/dot neck @three had - it would’ve been a very nice thing to own.
  24. I’m just being childish, don’t worry - it makes very little or no sense with English as a first language 😂😉
