  1. Feeling like the wrist is getting better - played this for a bit, sore now. Can hear a couple of duffers in there timing wise - like the message from brain to hand is jumbled. Will medicate with some wine. And try again tomorrow. Hopefully ordering a new interface tonight so that annoying crackling will go.
  2. Also - for the people with itchy eyes over the “spare” hole - I’m in discussions with our very own Tim about some sort of “plug” which will not be a permanent attachment to Vintage bass nor vintage celluloid. 😉
  3. Bought a fender 1966 tort pickguard from Les - packed like a pro and great communication throughout. Found him to be a total gent and would recommend deals with him. Excellent. Andy
  4. I know it doesn’t take much 😉 No. A good friend has a 69 precision I absolutely love, absolutely cannot afford and he absolutely would not sell... the big TV logo P’s were seen with tort up until 1974... This pickguard “more red with an extra hole” is from 1966. It was on a 1966 P someone had made into a p/j. I’m debating the hole at the moment - it’s something I can happily live with...the bass isn’t some vault worthy new old stock. Although I have some tort offcuts if I can be bothered. The dark tort is a limelight reissue which doesn’t quite fit. And I’m not about to drill into the bass to make it fit...the 66 was perfect fit. The black guard is now in the case between two bits of ply to prevent warping. And it looks marvellous - I love old tort.
  5. Decision made. Unbelievable.
  6. Whoa! And that’s what I’d buy!
  7. @Duarte the Stingray EX (Japanese MM) are absolutely bonkers - really nice, I picked one up for @TheGreek about 2 years ago and was so so jealous. If you can find one, you’ll be chuffed - I can’t believe there’s not more of an import market going on for them.
  8. Hahah. We’ll wait until the 66 comes - although it’s with Hermes, so it could be next Christmas
  9. Will see how this 66 turns up - I will be keeping the black in the case if it’s good. The whole thing that set me off was a mates 69 precision...
  10. Yeah - it’s growing on me
  11. We’ll see when it gets here tomorrow - I will obviously post results
  12. Although I will say - it’s been a few years since I’ve had a “vintage” bass - forgot the smell, the old bass smell.
  13. After 23 years of messing about on bass, And owning probably close to 500 basses...I’m slowly realising that I’m a Precision (well, P/J) kind of guy. I started with a Kay Precision copy, got a Yamaha BB300 (a P type) and a Washburn XB-100...in quick succession. This came up for sale @bouvier was an absolute gent to deal with which made the money evaporate from my wallet. I’d been looking at a mates 68/69 and paid particular interest to having a TV logo burst bass with a tort guard. I have sourced a 1966 tort pickguard...god knows how, But also a limelight reissue as a “just in case”. it’s a shade under 9lbs, feels great - going to do a little infill on a chip in the neck lacquer because while it’s not bad - it’s a niggle. but for 45 years old ish - it’s a great player, warm, round - and not a huge neck. Played well out of the case - I’ve lowered the action a spot, just because I’m an incredibly lazy bass player. I’d promised the Flatwounds to @bassfan but even though I “absolutely hate rotosound flats” - these are played in and just right. The Limelight guard isn’t quite right and the screw holes don’t align perfectly - with it being an older bass, I don’t want to drill holes...
  14. @Mudpup that’s absolutely frigging gorgeous
  15. Nice - I missed my 83 Squier so much, I’ve just bought a 76p. @Stuee has my old one and won’t sell it back - they’re that good! @lee650 you need this
  16. Just a work of art...haven’t got the pennies. But bloody wish I did.
  17. This joke plaid out well...
  18. Well, I’ve never quite had a bass packed up like this before. There was enough for 4 basses in the boxes (yes plural) he packed my new (to me) 1970’s Fender in. Throughout the process Patrick was an absolute gent and I’m very pleased I went with his particular bass. Deal with confidence - the man is a hero. Cheers Andy
  19. Sold Mike a Sadowsky, absolute gent throughout even when DPD messed up. Enjoy it mate x
  20. Wish I had a Taylor DD I’d forgotten about 😂
  21. Mark had some MM parts from me - lovely doing business with him. Enjoy!
  22. Maybe they like you more
  23. Nathan bought a Farida Jazz from me - great guy. Paid quickly, patient when DPD took a day longer than expected. Top basschatter! Thanks - Enjoy x
  24. Well...the one collected on Monday arrived today. So small mercies. Hopefully the other two booked on the same day will actually be collected today.
