  1. Hi Harry - I started playing at 12/13, I’d say play for fun, find mates to play with and enjoy it. Listen to all types of music no matter how ‘uncool’ it may be. Be patient - I remember someone telling me in 1998 “you never stop learning” - and they were right. Practice - but spend time listening. Wish I’d learned to listen earlier instead of just hearing... Basschat is an amazing resource, I’ve been here 11 years nearly. Some of the people I’ve met through here have become good friends - but there’s an absolute wealth of knowledge and wisdom to go at. When posting for advice - explain where you’re up to and the good folk here will guide you. Enjoy playing bass though - it’s been a real door opener for me, and continues to be so. take care dude - look forward to seeing you post 👍🏼
  2. I surprise myself mate, if I could just apply this skill to something useful... Anyhow, sorry @bassfan I’m in...for now
  3. Traben Neo, ESP/Ltd b-206
  4. Tapping his foot. Yeah, it was him alright...
  5. Biting his lip.
  6. Not yet. He’ll shoehorn it in I’m sure.
  7. Might be a repeat.
  8. I’m not watching it. But I’ve had 4 text messages from friends to alert me.
  9. @CamdenRob the dark lake Placid is a killer.
  10. Wal Mk1 erm... nothing else really.
  11. It might be pure coincidence. Nice basses though - not many seen in caramel.
  12. @mikeycrikey think that’s my old 1024, lovely bass. I want your 424x
  13. They seem to sit between 100 and 400 - there are various eras which are deemed to be better. Similar to Vester - there are big “fanboys” who denounce everything other than “their” brand. They’re just decent midrange/budget instruments.
  14. Cool - sorry, with my reputation for buying stuff thought it was aimed at me 🤪 There is also a fenix strat if similar vintage on Facebook too - really good reputation these. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4358600674165206/ I played in a band with a guy who swore by his.
  15. I’m on a no buy month - got a refinish to pay for. And I keep on meaning to upgrade the pickups in my trusty little Ibanez SA which is so uncool but plays great and covers all the sounds I need for demos.
  16. This cropped up on Facebook - Fenix (Young Chang who made for Squier in the 90’s) https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/278585416627431/
  17. Was going to make the same comment - it’s interesting that you managed to sound like SH by doing something completely opposed to his style. Very cool.
  18. There’s an area on the top horn which has been sanded already - and a number of dinks which will require some of Mr Wilson’s Magic. But I’ve made him aware. Tell you what, I enjoyed that.
  19. Between painting fences, posting some parts I’d sold on here and keeping the kids busy... I’ve only just had the hour to do the prep before sending to Dave.
  20. I think I could live with that. although a 50’s fender neck would be ace on it too. It’s got the rounded heel so without modding, it wouldn’t be a direct fit. but a decent luthier could do it - can’t cope with that headstock shape on the 51 ish aesthetic. One of the reasons I didn’t go for the 60th p
  21. It’s a more or less carbon copy of the RS guitarworks contour 54 which has been knocking about for at least 10 years. Ive always fancied one but they’re about £3000 - meant to be lovely though.
  22. Gutted - needs a tele headstock
  23. Where the body was mounted Ona stick for spraying
  24. That’s the first thing I thought. Sanded/missing logos - or in this place, neck plate... Although I have an Ibanez guitar which had a shop stock sticker on over the serial number - when I went to pull it off, it took part of the decal with it. So missing serial number isn’t always a dead cert for dishonesty.
