Takamine TB10 or DB10? What’s the difference?
AndyTravis replied to Rob MacKillop's topic in Bass Guitars
Think the TB had the cool tube preamp…seemed to kick in about 2005. you used to be able to choose your Takamine guitar and then choose the preamp separately… it confused punters - and I think I did 6 or 7 stock takes counting the unsold preamps and guitars… -
Don’t really want to sell these basses, but the new band dictates I’ll be playing a lot more guitar so fancy getting a decent six string. With the building work costing fortunes - I don’t want to take any credit on or anything. Anyhow - these are Soloking MJ-1 basses. They look like Fender Roscoe Beck basses. They cover lots of different sounds. Roasted maple necks etc. They were in a blow out sale at Andertons for £150, I thought it rude not to. In typical “me” style, I had pickguards made by Earlpilanz on eBay and fitted badass bridges. They’ve been used for an album I’ve now scrapped…which is a real shame. The basses were bought for that band and now it’s gone bump - I don’t really want them anymore. One tiny mark on the headstock of the blue one. I’ve also sorted the annoying jack socket issue where you could only use skinny straight jacks. £200 without badass. Original pickguard and Bridge included Wearing Flats £15 to ship in UK.

Got these as a preemptive strike for my BB1100s, but much like riding a bike - fixing BB Machinehead cams is like second nature to me…no matter how long it’s been. So…here we go. a set of bb424/1024 Machineheads. You used to be able to buy these from BTN music for £18 a pop. Seems you can’t anymore. A direct drop in for 1980’s bb’s due to the screw holes. bb414-2024 and all models inbetween. they’re decent units for any fender type bass - tension adjustable etc. Any questions just ask.

So @Dankologyand I have been working on something together. Owing to the demise of my previous band (there’s a post on the acrimonious band split thread)… We’ve been sharing ideas and today we recorded our first single… This is ”Letters He Left” And we’ll be sharing bass/guitar/baritone/Bass Vi duties https://www.facebook.com/share/1BY5pGLUQR/?mibextid=wwXIfr https://www.instagram.com/lettersheleft?igsh=MXZwY2diNXNja3l4cg%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

We played 2 nights at the Chorley festival last year - Friday and a Saturday. its a multi-venue thing across the town. first night peaked with a ukulele orchestra and by the time we played, one couple and 6 people who I knew arrived. the second night in a more “prime” venue - was absolutely rammed… it’s a venue problem as well as a band concern.

I’d suspect this is a “first edition” and a wav version (maple?) will arrive at some point

“This special model is made in Detroit, Michigan by Sankuer Composite Technologies, noted in the auto and music industry for producing carbon fiber products to the highest standard. Production from the SCT6 FIN Bass Guitar mold will be limited to twelve units, after which the mold will be permanently retired.” I can read. That’s my basis. 😉 (on the website link above)

They’re only making 12

I’d be curious to mess with a 4 string if they’re bothering.

Looks like an 8-Bit Status Streamliner.

My frends really awful band - advice needed

Depends how good a mate he is - I know some mates of mine would take the critique, some would lose the plot and sulk. If you’re at a loose end and want to form a band, you could use the gig as the excuse… as someone else suggested ”you’re a great singer, watching you struggle with those guys made me realise you deserve better…” -
Hello. I have had this since March 2024, it’s a classic old Hartke HA5500 in a sleeve case. It works well and is loud. the tolex is scruffy. I suspect it won’t be a difficult item to re cover if you’re arsed. i have a pack of spare knobs and Fader covers and I think a spare valve. The fan is a bit noisy - they always were on these so might benefit from a clean out or replacement…but it works and doesn’t get hot. Came from a studio in Newcastle. Can ship at buyers risk, probably £25 or so. any questions? Google ‘em 😆😉 (not really…just ask) Its at my studio in Manchester so I’d have to collect it before shipping. Nice thing, but I’ve replaced it with a new Evo600 thing so I don’t need it xxx

If I won the lottery and had no kids or a mortgage -
No, there have been battles for “control” over the last 2 years. They’ve all been in a band together before I came in. I write most of the ideas and then they’re developed… Singer and Drummer have asked that we carry on without them and I’m in with that. But I think the main error was allowing the guitarist to mix the album. He wasn’t asked to, he just sort of started doing it. And the old “my precious” stuff kicked in. So, listen - I’m not being threatened, can’t be arsed with that. I said my piece and I’ve walked. Played with a new band on Monday, might keep that going while working with singer and drummer on new stuff… Or just help that band cross the line at a gig next month and refocus on my stuff with Drummer and Singer…
