I enjoyed that @walshy got to say hello to a few Basschat alumni. Nice to have bought mini Trav (Ella) with me. Quite a team
-
Yeah. Think that’s the fist time I’ve played there, used to be in a band with the owners - they have the castle too.
-
I don’t get it, personally… I’m not going to have a row with them about it…but it is mildly irksome.
-
It was ok. Played to sold out 150 capacity room. Local indie stalwarts ’The Notion’ retirement gig. 9 songs, then when we’d finished - got told to play on, did a bass/piano/vocal version. small stage, increasingly frustrated by the use of music stands. guitarists amp blew up…properly dead in soundcheck… fun.

Fiasco Jam - The band I decided to unretire for…
AndyTravis replied to AndyTravis's topic in Share Your Music
So an update for 2025 We visited studios and priced up recording an album… If we played everything live in a room and managed to complete 10 songs live in 2 days, we were looking at about £2000 just to record. So we bought a Mac and interface and did it ourselves… I’m getting better with video stuff and starting to push for a broader audience via social media. It’s taken a bit longer than I would’ve liked, but it’s sounding great - I’ve done some of the engineering but our guitarist Jim has done an amazing job of mixing, editing etc. so…Fiasco Jam phase 2… enjoy! -
Here I go through my basses and my pedalboard…

I’ve no idea about my band members views on political, religious or gender issues. Then again, they all seem to be a fairly educated, intelligent bunch. So if they came out with something offensive to me - I’d have to ask if it was a difference of opinion or if they were loony Roundabout painters… If someone is racist or bigoted - I call them out and then remove them from my life. So I’d either sack them from the band - or quit.
-
I disagreed with a decision to slow a song down to half speed. Said the other two were “mad if they saw that as an improvement of any sort”. Was uninvited to rehearsal that week. Then came the “we’re not sure you’re the right fit for this project, no reflection on your playing etc” - so I was really mature about it as a 40 year old bloke with approximately 30 years playing experience. Told them they’d wasted my time, and they could f*** off… And blocked them on all platforms. Because I’m a child. Incidentally heard a snippet of one of their recordings. Boring turd of a track so…

Nah. I’ve found the setting I like and can’t be bothered changing about. Creatures of habit.
-
Yeah… I’ve got my 2 lookalikes…they’ll do for me. I did have an RBV about 10 years ago - was ace.
-
That looks ace to me. 1. fretted or fretless…never both. 2. £14k? Feff…no. I reckon you could do something like that for about £300 in bits.

Fender Roscoe Beck 4 strings. I’d have one in a heartbeat
-
Looks like you did a great job

I’d make that natural, great grainy ash. maybe an “aged” tint - but not that awful orange stuff.
-
Bought a BB bass from Gerry. Great experience. Thank you mate x
-
After some fettlement… yup. Very happy to have an 1100s back in the fold. Wish I could remember where my old sunburst one went.
-
Diamond Eyes and Gore are still on constant rotation for me - White Pony remains one of my all time favourite albums. I got into them when Around The Fur came out. going to see them in Manchester…not sure who’s on guitar though as Mr Carpenter won’t fly anymore.

Ah balls. Missed it again. i had some stuff roughed out but I’ve basically been away for most of the month. some great stuff here - I’ll join in the voting x
