  1. Is it ok to like both? asking for a friend, obvs 🥴
  2. Just in from rehearsal guys - eventful drive home (chinned a rabbit at 70mph on the m60) Honestly - I’m 15 years into being on basschat. It’s been an amazing resource of knowledge and well of experience to plunge. I’ve most likely financially ruined myself and equally saved myself on the basses for sale threads - I’ve met some amazing people; quite a few in person. That random grub screw I kept has saved the day, the saddle from a 1987 bb1600 I sent in the post - the stupid stuff I retained from years in a guitar shop to offer advice…the people who’ve done the same for me - it’s a funny old world. Our house is now officially your collective house - we cannot believe that the community of Basschat has done this for us, for Iris. 😘
  3. NICE TO SEE YOU 😵‍💫 Since this thread, Bruce’s presence in my nightmares has increased… Yes. He was there before this thread.
  4. Jenny just had a cry, it’s funny really - I’ve always just assumed we’ll see Iris walking. This is about 4 years of trying different things. She did this herself…that tells me all I need to know.
  5. The 78 you have is really similar to mine - I had designs on a matching pair… Still playing the lottery just in case x
  6. While talking to Jen about the extra donations (she sends her love) - Iris climbed out of her adapted chair (she has one at home and one at school) and took it for a wander. this is quite the development. ignore the mess of the house and the state of us post work/school. this really is a big deal - she has a walker, but it’s so big and heavy - she hates it…
  7. You’re brilliant, all of you. 😘 Update - head honcho OT came last night. It was much of a nothingness really. He measured Iris, the stairs, saw how Iris can get on a chair…then said “so, stairlifts” I said as politely as possible… Four and a half years ago, your (now retired) colleague did all of these measurements; you have full architectural drawings, 3d scans, a survey and all proposals that led to the mess we’ve found ourselves in. Your colleagues stated at the time, that to be fully independent, Iris needed a through floor lift, rather than the potentially risky stairlift. Your colleagues agreed, 54 months ago that Iris needed more independent living space as she grew older. You’ve measured our existing en-suite and declared that it is “too small” for a wet room. Please see the notes from the initial report which also states that it is not big enough for a wheelchair user to access independently… We could have sold up and moved house. But we were told we’d have support with an extension to allow for the recommendations your team made for Iris, within your tolerances (everything has to be done with an adult wheelchair user in mind). How long, in theory are we looking at… ”that’s difficult to say” Apparently, there is a case discussion regarding Iris and our property at the end of this month. We still cannot go ahead with anything until we know what they’re actually going to do - it’s mental. But, thank you one and all. You’re absolutely bloody fantastic.
  8. Good lord…that’s amazing, absolutely mental - but wow, just wonderful. 😘😘😘🫶🏻
  9. In possession of a BSW and a very good drummer - I did a belting rendition. could never get a good enough guitarist or singer to do it live. Last band could’ve smashed it - current band, would make a really odd choice of cover for an indie band.
  10. I can’t remember which synth it is - but it’s definitely not a bass. But you’re right - the BSW does a great version, I’ve had 3 and now have none 🙄
  11. Saw them with Zender and later with Nick Fyffe, never saw them after that - But Paul Turner is a wonderful bass player. I really liked Nick Fyffe - love the Temperance Movement too - although very different to Jamiroquai.
  12. Not actually a bass…killed me off when I found that out.
  13. This is the aim for her WCMX - I think it’s due to become “Olympic” at 2028, the LA promo handover actually included a few WCMX’ers just as the Chili’s played. We’ll see what the future holds for her sports wise as she’s still so young - she moans as we set off (she’s not big on effort…😏) but then complains when it’s time to leave. We’re in touch with a company who loans out sports equipment/wheelchairs - but they haven’t anything her size 🤦🏻‍♂️ And the Ripper is here - if anyone’s passing, nip in for a brew and bass sesh. Not sure I trust a courier for a round the country tour 😂 I will be at the Birmingham guitar show next year with @walshy so I will bring it along so we can have it in basschatters hands!
  14. It’s been a magical experience this - I love you all, with all my heart x
  15. Great bass this - played it in person at Lee’s place. Feels great.
  16. My Ell loves basses and guitars. Plays in a band on and off. She comes at weekends so her room is where the basses live… ”dad, can I borrow yer Gibson?” ”in the house?” ”no, for rehearsal” ”uhm…Sod off…” She has a lovely 90’s Yamaha of her own.
  17. Yeah - they seem to have caught on a bit in the guitar world.
  18. Hard to capture this basses prettiness…
  19. Now got the correct truss cover on too… well, in my head.
  20. Would love a blue - not gonna happen this side of 2026 though 😐
  21. f***ing STING YOU Stanley Clarke… there, how many’s that? she’ll be at this for a while
