  1. I just think The Ashdown looks better...similar...but better. If that’s a consideration with an amp. I’m getting some of those silver grilles for my cabs
  2. I keep on meaning to pick a white 4 up, love the aesthetic
  3. That’s quite expensive. They go for £250-£399 on ebay
  4. No I’m ok. I only covet the white X with the maple board and a passive 3000. The 414 does so well I’m not sure I see the point for me. The 1024x I had was a beauty but not 3 times the price “better” than the 414 - also the more I played them side by side, the more I preferred the 414.
  5. He’s what if sound like if I practiced more, similar chordy/slappy stuff...but damn he’s prettier than me. Dare say he’s not got 4 kids and 50hr working week to contend with. Fair play to him.
  6. Have you seen him knocking ten colours out of a Flea bass? Not as tasteful. But I like him for it
  7. He’s a great player. Really like him.

Although if I bought a potato and it looked like that, I’d ask for my money back.

Affectionately known as the potato (I’m sure I read that somewhere)
  10. So...Marcus Miller basses...Larry Carlton guitars?!

It’s an archived bass. They have their own little museum. that bass needs to stay there. Only the headstock ruins it as it’s good looking otherwise

Am I going to be the first to say that he makes it sound poo?
  15. They look cool... The epi ones are probably nothing that special, but In my limited experience...the Gibson ones are lovely, sound like a meatier Ric.

    Jazz

Well...I wish I could say these bothe belonged to me...to one without chrome cover belongs to @sshorepunk but it’s lovely.
  17. This...initial cost £120. Bits and bobs (pickguard and Yamaha Attitude Bridge) £50 ish. Has seen off more expensive BB’s (1024x/1100s/614) and holds it’s own against any Fender I’ve played (a lot). Lives it’s life beside two basses which would cost £10,000 to order today...and I think these were £399 when in the shops.
  18. There’s a Euro LX at PMT Manchester, used...its up for £1300 And has been for some time. Every time I go I look at it and think...it’s gorgeous. But I daren’t pick it up. £1299 is a bit rich too, it’s a few years sat on the wall at that, so it’s probably not going anywhere. Theyve also had a Yamaha 614 fretless for 2 years at £379. I am tempted to walk in all Johnny big guns, offer £900 and see what happens.
  19. Bought a DVD player from @Burns-bass and it’s ace. Gutted he took the peppa pig dvd out though.
  20. I never look at 5’s but always get stung by “fender jazz” just to find it’s a fretless...
  21. I do think there should be ”4 string” ”5 string” ”6 string/erb” ”fretless” subsections...
  22. Bluddy helllllll! That’s on the list that. Must own.
  23. Some more information came from said drummer separately this morning. Love the bloke dearly, he’s 40 next year - and like me, he’s been close but never “made it”. I think he feels this is the last chance. The singers attitude can be off at times - he’s Done more the covers/pub band stuff and he doesn’t really seem to empathise with the “artistry”... he’s a bit more Alpha Male than the rest of us. Guitarist is lovely, but doesn’t need to strike it lucky as he’s a wealthy chap (a barrister) and I think, while he has a passion for music, he’s not overtly ambitious with it. But he is good at what he does.
