  1. exact reason I bought one...got to the big boss eventually. The peaveys do feel similar though - and definitely top build quality too.
  2. ‘Popular’ and ‘sells and buys lots of bass gear’ are not one and the same thing @bassfan 😂😂😂
  3. Paul and I have been joking (not joking) for some time about his blue sparkle Modulus Flea. I’ve been after one since 1999 and the opportunity always missed me. Anyhow, eventually we got there in a switcheroo part-trade master plan. Absolutely lovely bloke, we’ve ended up gabbing lots via WhatsApp - not only share taste in basses but also in sense of humour. Thanks mate!
  4. I always come back better if I don’t play for a week, just time away usually gives my head and repetitive patterns/phrases or ideas a rest and I change approach. In terms of sound/tone... I’m not going to lie, I really don’t give it huge amounts of thought/effort. If it sounds bad I don’t get upset, I just jiggle some control knobs and make it passable. The last rehearsal was with the Godlyke I’ve just part traded for a modulus flea. And I know the stingray type sound really works for our stuff. But a P/J and Jazz work too - I did all our studio stuff with Yamaha p/j basses and it all sounds ace, last gig was my jazz - sounded phenomenal (because it’s a bloody lovely bass) and then the MM setup just seems to be the best fit overall. I could be wrong. I’m sure someone with more time could tell me my eq is all wrong and I need to do something different. But after all this time, I’m just satisfied with a nice combo and the basses I have cover anything I need. So I just need to play regularly to justify the flashy gear.
  5. I had a GV in Red sparkle, and a G Bass in Holoflake...awesome awesome basses.
  6. There are some times we rehearse in a dampened live room and I never ever like the in room sound. The little zoom recorder always says otherwise though the next day. I’ve chopped and changed basses a few times this year and the only time I really didn’t have much confidence in the sound was when I had an EMG p/j set in an Attitude bass. Needed a preamp I suppose, sounded beautiful in isolation but didn’t seem to push for the band. Some days, even after 22 years I feel like my hands are on wrong and I need to practice more - and others I feel like the second coming of Bobby Vega. Oh well.
  7. Nope I always sound awesome. 🥴 (no tongue in cheek emoji)
  8. Haha. Noticed that’s posted on the lumineers thread
  9. Find one of these (Morgan Monroe F bass) - think they were only out in America?
  10. Take the neck off it will have a date stamp in it (I think)
  11. Listen to BSSM once a week ish, Nevermind got rinsed when I was 16 - “Lounge Act” is still one of my favourite basslines. But I don’t go back to listen to Nirvana often. Soundgarden I revisit once in a blue moon - again, rinsed by mates and brother so not for me. BSSM is just lovely to me. All the polish of the later albums and retention of the cheeky stuff - flea really got this right and the Wal sounds ace throughout - and the MM Stingray 5. Mothers Milk preceding it was a hint of what was to come but just hasn’t aged well - I still like it but I feel it’s follow up is less stuck in time.
  12. Can you block “basses for sale” from mine. Always gets me in trouble 😂😂😂 (joke. Please don’t...)
  13. Had a black BB pickguard off a 1024x
  14. It was really easy. I paid someone else to do it.
  15. Actually yeah. Unless Wal mk1’s become unpopular again and hit £2k instead of 7 or whatever they are.
  16. Bittersweet moment this. Just about to pack up the Godlyke for @bassfan who has relinquished his Modulus Flea to me. Honestly they’re on a par - the Godlyke however must make its way to Essex as my wife (patient as she is...) can only be pushed so far...
  17. Yeah, I have a matching fretless and fretted jazz too - the fretted one does “Marcus” very well.
