  1. I got 6 readings off luggage scales 3 said 3.5kg (7.7lbs) 3 said 3.8kg (8.3lbs) so my guess is 8lbs ish
  2. Just shy of 9lbs. Got some new scales. Out at the minute but will check later
  3. I must admit, I was doing my typical “that’s close enough” rather than nailing the tone…
  4. I always assumed it was a bassballs sort of a light filter with some drive. i used a mooer sweeper for it on some gigs a few years ago…there or thereabouts sound wise.
  5. Yeah. I’m having one
  6. Looks like it’s cracked - unfortunately common with these bridges.
  7. Bought in a rush, actually surplus to requirements as I’m selling the bass I needed it for (have listed as a bundle, so it may go with that…) DI/acoustic Pre. Lively, solid thing. Collection preferred. postage will be a few quid in UK

  8. So, in a fit of “not using, sell it…” I bought this bass as a bit of a wreck on eBay courtesy of over indulgence with wine. it’s an ovation style bowl back, Italian (Eko) made - these are sometimes seen as Rondo etc. Anyhow, I took the frets out. Added flamenco style tap plates etc. I was also OCD’ed out by the encore logo being 10mm off centre, so killed that too. Again, this was done with wine in hand. Neck had a small, old and stable split near the machine heads so I clamped and glued it. Solid now - probably outlast me… Defret is a decent enough job, probably not 100%, but board was radius sanded etc so better than some jobs I’ve had to fix for others in the past. Just not perfect as I’ve been out of the repair game for a while. Sounds ace unplugged. Sounds decent plugged in - a passive volume/tone. Plays well - I think it could have a lower action, but I was going for DB vibes so it’s about right for that…I had debated some lower tension strings. But that’s your shout. Saddle would probably need lowering as it’s low at position 1-5. edit - I can do PayPal invoices so you can do on PP credit. Forgot about this…will have to add Fees, but it won’t be much. So I purchased an Ashdown pre/DI to balance the sound out and reduce potential feedback. So, £190 Bass soundhole bung Ibanez Gigbag which is basically brand new. Just realised I can’t let the Yamaha BEX go - and practically speaking, it gets very close to that double bass sound I was aiming for. Shipping, while not advisable, is possible. Manchester M27 for collection. A proper marmite bass, if you hate it…fair enough. But I know why people will love it.
  9. Yamaha had a habit of doing this. I have an OEM attitude bridge on my BB and it was far from like for like.
  10. Fender made some custom Corian (man made marble) ones…
  11. Quite a cool insight…
  12. Adore that bass
  13. Always fancied one. Never came across one
  14. Ssh, they’re heavy with crap necks….i want values to plummet 😬
  15. Two basses made for me in 2010, so much has come and gone since then - but they stay.
  16. Love that @gafbass02 even though it breaks my maple/matching head rule…
  17. Balls. would love it. selling basses but nothing forthcoming 😔
  18. I’d love this back. Really would. It worked out so well.
  19. Damn… Looks at stuff to sell… want that sound on occasion and don’t want to spend another £1200 on a miller
  20. YOU WANT A YAMAHA IN TRADE 👋🏻
  21. Love this - and the tort is exactly what I’d do. My Yamaha hasn’t shifted…meaning I’m having to stare from afar
  22. They’re ace - My 76 has become my “one bass fits all” Hoping the stars align at some point and I end up with a fretless one…
