forgot to update this. Fitting how my last response was to @bassfan and eventually I ended up not having to stick nor twist... And the Modulus which i described as 😍 is now next to the jazz I was thinking about swapping.

Went back to regular place the week after, they’re a bit intermittent at the moment as they’re building 2 new rooms and a new live room. So they’re down a couple of spaces, if we don’t pre book a few weeks in advance we’re goosed.

We did this the other week. How a Godlyke Disciple into a 500w Ashdown Sounded bad I’ll have no idea. The week before (at the regular rehearsal space) I was nearly in tears that I’d found “my sound”. Weird. It was a terrible rehearsal too.

If it’s originals you’re signing your own marching orders - but as far as I’m aware Al you’re doing covers where Dep stuff is the norm. Just make sure you offer more to the band than the Dep and your gig is safe. Generally my attitude within bands is what lets me down. And that’s why covers never work for me. I do a lot of the writing for our lot and as much as they hate me, they’re stuck with me 😉

A mate of mine used to swear by the ART V3 thing. I never got a chance to get one cheap when I used to sell them. Keep on hoping to find one nice and cheap. Unlikely...

Did they do a maple (without blocks) fingerboard/neck with that logo?

That sticker will just be an internal logging code for cash converters or whatever. Whatever “Terry” on the counter decided to enter it into the system as. the headstock “jazz bass” looks a lot like the font used for Highway 1 mk2 or American Special series, but why they’d sand “Fender” off it’d have no idea - also the serial numbers are on the rear of the headstock on those which means that’s either been sanded off too if it was ever there. Body proportion looks to be around about right, might be an MIM fender or Squier. All the Hardware is aftermarket. It’s deffo bits shoved together, potentially a fender neck, but with bits sanded off it...

I’ve never ever put any credibility into those opinions/statements. ”mij Fenders are brilliant” - some are, I’ve played some Japanese fender dogs, and by the same token some amazing and terrible MIM ones. Same goes for USA built. we once got 8 new 2008 jazz basses in at once and 5 were great, 2 were underwhelming, and I sent one back - just horrific. I don’t believe that geography has a bearing on wether or not a bass is any good. That’s before you take into account what each individual player wants. but if it helps, I owned several Japanese BB’s and some Taiwanese ones at the same time. There was nothing between them, quality wise. I kept the 414, which is Indonesian. And “lesser”. Sits proudly with a jazz bass and Modulus which if I bought new now I’d have to spend £10,000 to replace between them. Think it’s cost me £150 in total.

That’s fantastic. Insanely jealous of the moves - and he keeps a busy bassline going throughout. I can only do one or the other. I’m working on it...
