No 😉

It’s not that big a trouble. Just a time constraint thing. Like I’ve said now it’s more or less complete, I might sell it on to someone who will get the enjoyment I nearly had from it. Home/house/kids are the priority, foolishness to think otherwise at the moment.

A tiny bit yeah - angle of the photo also doesn’t help, need to reset the neck a little towards the bass side... But in all fairness I haven’t had the time. having looked at it more...I think a bridge with threaded saddles would sort this. i’ll add It to the list of stuff I don’t want to buy...should’ve done it in the first place...

Had been delivered to a neighbour yesterday

I know. It’s bloody lovely. but...it’s not going to get used. Not in a rush yet. Want to keep that sound for one song while we record.

Haha, erm. its as far as i’ll Be taking it. A change in drummer means that extra bottom end is a bit redundant and only seeing use on one track. i have the vintage 80’s skateboard/wings sticker arriving which cost way too much for a sticker. it needs more time than I have to get “bang on” so it’s turned out to be a very expensive reality check. it sounds great and plays really well. but to make it 100% would take a luthier an afternoon and me, well, probably a day - but I’m sort of spent on it. with the house move coming up, I have too much sorting and packing to do. As well as keeping the 4 youngsters entertained and out of harms way. I’ve sourced a beauty of a shell pickguard as I wasn’t happy with how it turned out around the pickup. The likelihood is that I’ll offer it for sale as a project and lose a couple of hundred quid.

I told you ages ago and said “put a preamp in it” 😂

Options...and maybe it’s cheaper for them to keep doing the same bridge they’ve been doing since the 415 rather than re-tooling and changing. If my old 415 and 425x were anything to go by, I’d say it’s a good thing.

Wow. I passed it by as one of the cheaper models. What an asshat I feel.

Anthony Joshua is fighting that night too. Although I suspect ring time will be about 2am. it’s also my birthday and I won’t be fit to play a note 😉 -
Wasn’t there a zoot bass made in Japan for a bit? Is this one of them?

This has “divorced” written all over it...

Maple and matching headstocks 🤮

Expression pedals usually control a parameter on an effect pedal like delay time or chorus depth. Some companies make dual function ones.

Absolutely, the bespeco is a cheap and cheerful version, especially used. If I end up employing it regularly - i’ll get something more solid. I always liked the Ernie ball ones but the idea of it being operated with string pulleys made me feel a bit sick. The Dunlop ones seem good (dvp3) but again, it’s huge.
-
I picked up a bespeco one off eBay for a surprisingly low price. I used to use one to great effect in an old band and as the new band is writing, I thought I’d get another. Depends though, there are obviously much more expensive volume pedals available. i used to use a boss fv-500 which was huge, but sturdy and reliable.

“Hello, Gibson...” ’hi, I want to be a Gibson dealer’ ”ok, order £35k worth of gear up front...and you can be a dealer” ’I haven’t got £35k...’ ”then p*ss off” that doesn’t include the fact you’ve then got to keep that up for each quarter. And if you don’t place the order, you’re shoved to the back of the queue when the new models are announced. They want their money. oh, and if it arrives smashed, faulty or marked...and you don’t report within 7 days (meaning you have to check every guitar over and people then accuse you of selling ex display because the box is open...) you’re stuck with it.

Well, guitar shops paid my mortgage for a number of years. From my perspective a few things. Yes, the internet is the big issue. 1. A warehouse with boxes guitars/amps etc is vastly cheaper to run from a website than a chain or even singular shop. 2. Big chain guitar shops need to shift units so the service suffers hugely (the chain I worked for now no longer offer a repair/restring service) which means people aren’t interested in going. 3. The big brands need to shift units...so go with the big chains with ridiculous dealership demands. I think the last buy in for a Gibson dealership was £35k. Small chains cannot do this. 4. The markup/margin/breadwinner is accessories - see point 1. A website for accessories once set up will run itself. 40-50% margin on branded strings and accessories, own brand/Chinese import accessories 60-75% - again, smaller stores haven’t got that buying power. You don’t need to ‘try out’ regular slinkies, so you don’t need the experience - you just buy them 15% cheaper online... 5. Second hand...a shop will buy a £200 retail bass for £100 as a part ex. Why would you part ex for £100 when you can sell it yourself for £180/£200 on eBay/Shpock/Gumtree/Facebook/Basschat. So the shops used to be more varied, and interesting - now they’re not. 6. Trend. It’s actually not that cool to be a muso at the minute. In the 80’s/90’s music was a bigger deal. Kids now don’t want it like we did. 7. Money. I haven’t bought a new (from a shop) bass in the 5 years I’ve not worked in a music shop. See point 5 - why buy new when there’s a glut of cheap second hand gear online...see point six...less buyers, more gear... I could go on...think that covers most of it.

I’ve sorted it. But just handy for anyone who wanted a black Yamaha (official) one

Worked in a storeroom with a guy who used to give me grief for preferring RHCP to FNM (I believe there was a spat between Kiedis and Patton) - the guy just wouldn’t stop playing Mr Bungle. found it hard going.

Nope. Need a slightly thicker gauge to make it less floppy - I know a lot of people swore by the labella flats for these.
