  1. It was for sale (with a dodgy neck…) a while ago. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/washburn-usa-xb928-8-string-bass.1585868/
  2. It was volume for me. through an Ashdown Neo 4x8 and a Vanderklay 2x12 (the cabs I owned each time I bought an mk500)
  3. Image I’ve found - this blue burst was used in lots of literature for these basses. not sure many were made 🤷🏻‍♂️
  4. I’ve had 2 mk500’s and just never got what I wanted from them - they didn’t have the push I expected amp wise (especially considering the claimed power). but the Ashdown sound is ace - thing a modern interpretation would be the retroglide 800 - that pushes PLENTY
  5. But…original luthier, $400… get someone good for body finish though…
  6. I’d speak to our very own @Andyjr1515 (or @Jabba_the_gut - or any of our amazing basschat luthiers) to see if they can make you a 1:1 copy of the neck - and add a Washburn decal from Rothko and Frost. if you ever sell, include the original neck so you’re not hoodwinking anyone with the decal? looks a lovely body. very jealous
  7. Oh good lord. would love to do it in that blue of the 928 and have the neck plain maple… wooof!
  8. Apologies on Mobile as ever… https://on.soundcloud.com/mUfCXxZRY54xug4M7 Called it “Bubble Vs Bird” A little bubble floats off on a summers day…happy and growing into a big strong bubble; a bird spots it and swoops to pop it…does it survive the chase? meh, I did some music - I’ve tried to squidge my idea into fitting with the picture… recorded today, sponsored by courtesy car woe and hangovers.
  9. Tiger backplate, tiger stitch on bag…tiger blood finish… leopard print inside the case. 🥴
  10. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cvz2rTYrtgV/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== apparently coming soon Mexican 30” wide range humbucker plus another one alder body
  11. Just got a Gotoh Bridge from Dan. All absolutely perfect Many Thanks
  12. The amount of pianos we used to “recycle” when people would trade against the latest iteration of Yamaha Tyros (urgh…) or Clavinova used to make me sad. Anything teak/70’s/80’s used to get skipped - if the cabinetry was deemed to be outdated/unfashionable - they’d get trundled up on a forklift and dropped into a container. But as stated - we couldn’t give them away - offered to schools and charities, nobody wanted them. Madness.
  13. Damn. Would love another - had one about 10 years ago. wallet says no, unfortunately
  14. Would another luthier/builder be able to get it across the line? it’s hard - I lived 18 years with a builder (my dad) and my mums complaint for years was that he started jobs in his own house and never finished. it looks brilliant
  15. Follow JDouglas on Instagram, love some of the stuff he comes up with.
  16. Understand that. I wasn’t responding to your personal circumstance, I was responding to what @ubit had said. I wouldn’t lose sleep over it - I just wouldn’t shop there or even consider buying from them in future. give it another 5 or so years and there most likely won’t be any guitar/bass shops left to visit, for reasons outlined above. crap margins, aging customer demographic, business rates, online business models with lower overheads - etc. But the elitist behaviour exhibited by some people in some stores is mental, I never understood it when I was in the trade - even less so now that the MI retail trade is dying.
  17. Used to stop it regularly when I worked in a shop. There are organised groups of thieves who target guitar shops. And…opportunistic passing addicts. I don’t miss that element of the job. We weren’t paid enough to deal with it, but by god did we get it in the neck if it did happen…
