This - it’s either met with indifference or howls of laughter. From my point of view it allows me to hear if there’s enough edge or “click” to the sound, it’s repetitive and easy enough so I can just listen to check monitors etc.

I’m sure on a lot of earlier Vulfpeck videos he’s playing through a Roland Bass Cube. Doesn’t explain huge amounts - but noteworthy as that has a setting called bass360 which sonically seems to fit the bill - and a one size fits all button compression. In saying all of this, Ive just done a set of demos with my CS Jazz, an 80’s Yamaha BB and an 00’s Yamaha BB. All sounds like me. He has a very particular attack...on faster passages it’s almost as if he wanted to sound like Jaco so much he missed Pastorious and found his own sound via Rocco Prestia.

A good few years ago around Christmas time i had a drink with a member of the Jools Holland band, I don’t know them personally but we have a mutual friend. About two drinks in, I said “how’s prep going for the Hootenanny?” (Trying to sound cool...) And I was told that (for that year at least) it had been recorded in August. It was like someone had told me Father Christmas wasn’t real all over again.

Get an album done, do some gigs to support said album. Make no money, be happy playing music.

Theoretically could be, as the work on hootenanny is all done by about September. 😉 I’m sure Jools and his Hootenanniens aren’t that worried about us lot on Basschat...and the BBC keep on recommissioning it, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

I really liked the channel 4 series “live from abbey road” - a focused programme on a few acts. usually top flight. Im struggling to remember, might’ve been 3 bands per show.
