  1. If you were watching amp demonstrations online, what would you want to see? I’m in the market for smaller powerful combos, and there’s not huge amounts out there other than spec sheets. Just thinking about online demos generally...they seem to be slap fest look at me videos on the main. There is a guy who I think was referred to as the bass whisperer and he does great demos in America, but self filmed demos and YouTube content is so hit and miss. I would want the same bass line over and over again with fingers, pick and a bit of thumb while the settings were clearly shown... ”the mid control has this sweep...” etc. Any examples of videos you’ve seen and liked? just about to boil my head looking at gear reviews and wanted a break
  2. I’m in trouble. The second hand market is feeding my Yamaha BB addictiction
  3. Why are you being rude? What an odd reply. Literally an opinion, a point of view - my 2p. The concept of a cheaper (‘kiddy’) Flea bass in itself was acknowledged by Flea when he brought out the “fleabass” range of instruments and further addressed by the introduction of a lower price point Fleabass (street bass). I was just pointing out that Fender may have missed a trick by only having the one price point which would be out of reach for younger/less affluent fans when they’ve done broader attempts to previously... Mike Dirnt has/had a Fender and a Squier model simultaneously BB King had a Gibson and Epiphone version of Lucille (there are plenty more examples) It just broadens their buying audience somewhat and more buyers means more money. Makes more business sense. And having left the guitar/bass retail industry after 12 years in 2015 - I might have an idea of what people buy into. As a point, the cheap fleabass instruments weren’t that great - but we sold 100’s of them because people bought into the Flea name/image. But what would I know, I’m only a child.
  4. Could’ve been so much better. And being USA - alienates younger players, I mean they did the dimension and Jaguar basses in Squier, MIM and US. in all honesty, a £600-£700 Version would’ve been bought by me as a long time fan, but at £1200+ they can jog on
  5. Sore index finger today - need to use a plectrum 🤔
  6. First rehearsal tonight. Bloody hell... A drummer with feel, dynamics and timing. Led the band as opposed to chasing someone else... Great guitar player. Think I’ll have to practice more...obviously not match fit at all. and the singer who I’ve worked with before. Easy playing, lots of interplay and fun. as a point though “I need more love” by Robert randolph is great way to get blood blisters...
  7. I’m stuck pricing up getting frets put in this 350f. I really won’t use it Fretless. think I need to talk to @Andyjr1515 and see what can be done.
  8. I had one of these - really decent! sorely tempted, but I’ve just done a drunken eBay on a bass I’ll no doubt be listed next week as it’s a Fretless (and i already don’t play my Fretless...) if it’s any use, this has a solid spruce top, laminate mahogany back and sides. the necks on these are superb and they project well considering they’re not the biggest bass...
  9. Tough call...3 statii is greedy though
  10. That’s not very groovy... er. nice though
  11. Oh I recall that, it was a bb400/800 style wasn’t it, like a pointy p bass.

  13. It’s not a higher end one...I’ve got a soft spot for them as a bb300 was my first bass id say head over to the bb thread 😉
  14. I had it on watch list but bought an 80’s bb by accident and will have to stop looking on eBay to prevent further incidents
  15. @hookys6stringbass here’s what I did to my (identical to above) jap bb300. now lives with a mate who gives guitar lessons 🙄
  16. Funnily enough I’m at the studio next to phil’s workshop on Monday. i played his final dissertation build (hollow Ric inspired thing) in 2003! you do the thinking, I’ll do the walking - cheers @BassBunny
  17. That’s what I want. Yours? Wanna swap for a 350f? 😉
  18. Nope...I’m saying mid to late 80’s. i don’t even know if it’s jap or Taiwan. i just saw it and chucked a low ball offer in...
