  1. GCSE woodwork (would probably get an F) awful
  2. Do you know what - if they’d put the wah on the 60xl I would’ve bought one years ago. They’re good little amps - think in 2019 my big H&K combo will go and a Cube with an xlr out is on the cards.
  3. And today, we’re out at Heaton Park in Manchester doing a sponsored walk - Iris is one (if not the) youngest children participating. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/irisjuliatravis?utm_campaign=pfp-share&utm_content=irisjuliatravis&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_source=Facebook&utm_term=MEeA97v7D And she’s up to (including gift aid) £830
  4. Never got round to finishing this - will attempt to crack on at some point in new year... so far though, we’re up to about £2000 with other fundraising https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/eve-cardiff our mate did a 21k Row and raised (including gift aid) £1040
  5. Cheers. Just hanging fire as buying the Pickguard for the bass is taking 4/5 more days than buying the bass took. im sure he’s just busy, so I’ll remain chilled 😉
  6. Mrs Travis doesn’t care what comes and goes generally...but The White Jazz would cost me my gentleman’s vegetables if I sold it...she has said my pecker would meet the kitchen knife if it went. She loved the custom shop 55 I had and said she’s never forgiven me - so if one comes up and the cash is spare, I’m to buy another. Wal custom order going in for 40th (in a few years) on her coin too.
  7. Damn. You’re still enjoying this bass... i’m waiting 😉
  8. Hi. in the midst of sorting a new bass and a Pickguard to fit it. I’ve hopefully secured a suitable Pickguard but it doesn’t appear to have a bevelled edge (Fender style) and is just cut at a 90 degree flat edge. has anyone got the tooling or skill to do this to an existing plate or is it an intrinsic part of the raw cut? I know @TimAl has flat edges on his Pickguards, and for stuff he’s done for me previously that’s worked perfectly. But for this I want the b/w/b to show through.
  9. So far - I can't see a way. Infuriatingly got from 99% down to 85 which took 20 minutes...would've took longer on a phone. The most annoying thing is, I want to delete older posts from old sales threads etc and you have to select the last page each time you delete an attachment. A select many and singular delete would be much better, obviously - software permitting etc.
  10. Saw Paul Reed Smith discussing pickup placement based upon where the octave harmonics were. That’s why he preferred the sound of the McCarty and Custom 22 guitars - the neck pickup sat where the 24th fret would be. but that’s a preference thing, and not “correct” nor “incorrect”. Also, it was a free bar when he was talking so I don’t remember what his science was about. Although he did talk about pushing almost finished guitars through a band saw if they had ugly tops or “faults” in the Wood. I facetiously asked why they didn’t just put a solid finish on it instead, or donate to local music charities rather than bin off a nearly finished guitar. He smiled politely and answered succinctly. I don’t remember what his reasons were. He’s not as dull as Bob Taylor...but not far off.
  11. As a point - due to time constraints, I’ve stopped doing repairs and set ups now.
  12. @TimAl has a template he’s firing over tomorrow, legend that he is.
  13. Yeah, hopefully. There was one for sale on here but I’ve not heard back. was thinking about parchment/ivory pearl if that one’s not available
  14. These were mine about 3/4 years ago. I was playing 5’s all the time and then I stopped needing the B. I’ve been looking for (and failing to find) a red Japanese BB300 Which was the Bass I started with - I did say to myself that I wanted an orange 414 if I couldn’t find an old Japanese one...and wouldn’t you know it - one will be with me shortly from these very pages. I will be having a Pickguard made like a 414x but will be double sided taping it in place (for now) I always preferred the 415 to the 425, no idea why...
  15. Did the Yamaha Pickguard go? Have pm’d But not sure if you got it.
  16. Looks about right. Nice aged patina - looks like it could tell a few tales.
  17. I’d have to see the full body. With copies it’s usually a matter of proportions. Also, that stamp correlates with a model number etc...if I were faking things, I’d be faking USA stuff. but if you’ve got a link or better pics of the full thing, I reckon I could tell. i sold Fenders of all origins for 12/13 years and can spot knock offs a mile off.
