    Haha. well, word’s got out that I’m depping for a mate’s band on 23rd December for a posh hotel gig. So a few people have been in touch. This offer seems a bit more me, so I’m meeting them all next week all being well.

    How do. just got my hands on a bb414 through here. In about 2004 Yamaha did a model called the 414x which was the same bass but with a Pickguard. this was a precursor to the 424x/1024x and 2024x. for whatever reason I can’t establish, the 424x Pickguard doesn’t fit a 414 (I had a 415 and 425x at the same time and tried - just a little bit off) so I was wondering if anyone has a 414x I can borrow the Pickguard from so @TimAl can make me one. I remember preferring my 415 to the 425x but love how the Pickguard breaks up the big body. And I’ve got gigs coming up which I’d rather take a Yamaha to than a Custom Shop Fender if you get me...

    I really enjoyed it, I wish it’d gone on a bit longer. I loved the Brian May version of the 20th Century Fox music, I did a geeky guffaw at the start. It seemed Rami Malek settled into the role more as the film went on, assuming it was filmed in sequence...the bit with the Cap and sunglasses he was so like the real deal. But the chaps playing Brian May and John Deacon were unbelievable - sounded, acted and looked just like them. Minor quibble is some dodgy hand mining, but you can’t win it all. And on the whole, instrument choice was Bob on. Apart from a shiny stingray classic being in place of a pre EB, but was much better than the ch5 documentary where BM was playing and Epiphone SG 😂

    Look at the italia imola. this sort of did what you wanted - but some smart wiring would separate the bass and treble sides.

    Think the unit itself is about 10mm but obviously would need a blob of solder and a power source.
