  1. This is what Martin have on their performing artist series. just a little window - maybe a little limpet on the back of the headstock, imagine a miniaturised reversed Stratocaster jack socket with this fella looking at you. would work off vibration like a clip on tuner... for reference these circles are about as big as a 1p coin.
  2. Seems like everyone has different features they think basses ‘should’ have... Does that mean Excalibur doesn’t exist?
  3. Oh dear lord, that’s to the bone that mate 😂🤦🏻‍♂️
  4. Hahaha. Unfortunately I’d have to disagree as the similar Jazz was made for me (just passive...)...but this sire is lovely all the same.
  5. Basses with 20 frets should always have a 21st... Always made sense to me to have the last available note on a 4 string the same as the first (Standard tuning) available note. Two of my basses have 21 frets, my main jazz has 20, and it’s the only “flaw” as such - but it’s based on a 1964 so I’ll forgive it. Quick access batteries I agree with - I think some recent Yamaha’s have had a battery indicator on - I know GB’s have this. The locking jacks I’ve had on basses (one ibanez and one custom jobbie) did my head in. I like basses with two endpins - G&L ASAT, Hohner B Bass - means you can lean them against the wall if you’ve no stand - doesn’t work for every body shape. In Built tuners would be cool...Epiphone did Guitars with tuners built into the pickup surround for a while (Les Paul ultra 2 I think...)
  6. They had one in forsyths in Manchester for about 3 years. I thought it was a joke they were playing. looks like an ugly status streamliner got pregnant with triplets.
  7. Have played this bass, it’s almost identical to mine - having a pair would be and act of pure greed. It’s got a slightly slimmer neck than mine, not much - but it is a stunning bass. The “Blue” of it only shows in certain lights too - it’s only noticeable next to mine which is Olympic white - and does have a tendency to look blue, funnily enough. Anyhow, bump for a great guy and a great bass.
  8. Saw this on Facebook I reckon - you’re somewhere up the road from me in Salford. its really tempting, but it’s so similar in appearance to another jazz I have... and really I shouldn’t be buying... 🤦🏻‍♂️
  9. Oh. Great. 🙄 thanks though 👍🏼
  10. Think we need to be able to bump our own “wanted adds” - people are posting multiple times for the same stuff and then stuff is just getting missed - I’ve been after a few things for a while and it looks like I’ve missed sale threads or the sellers have missed my wanted add. cheers Andy
  11. My favourite p combo, I built a similar looking bass and regrettably got rid. But it was a p/j
  12. I’ve got some other bits I should shove on eBay, need something with a MM flavour
  13. These really are superb basses - cannot believe they weren’t a bigger deal. I worked for an ESP dealership when they were released and wrote a glowing review for the website in a “our team recommends these” style. Even if they had ESP branded pickups, you’d be hard pressed to find such a nice bass for £350, but when you consider the EMG’s would be about £200 to buy - it’s ridiculous value for money. I’m on a self imposed buying ban at the moment, unless a few things sell on eBay... Can’t praise them enough - wish I’d bought one of the natural ones at the time. GLWTS
  14. This sort of traditional outline (with a twist) would work well with that aesthetic...
  15. Ben bought my Guild. All arrangements a pleasure, great bloke
  16. Body looks a bit like a Palm Bay...but not done well...
  17. Well...feck me. its an awful sound that - happened on a Warwick which shipped with an awful action from the factory to me once... thats gutting - I’d try and assimilate that it’s much like a Ferrari, a beautiful piece of art and design with a particular function. Unfortunately if it Goes ‘pop’ it’s most likely expensive and catastrophic. sounds a bit Swiss Tony, but you know what I mean.
  18. Think body chemistry has something to do with this...my mate ruins strings with his sweat and doesn’t like the feel of elixir or exp coated strings. Jason Newsted used to have Roger Sadowsky make his basses sweat proof.
  19. The extended B fodera headstock gives me a migraine
  20. I love the mk1/2 paddle - hate the mk3... Different strokes etc.
