  1. Well…bongo 5 quest is on hold. Went to the studio today with the Stingray 5. it just works. And I picked up something else today which needed saving and has cost me a bit to make right: so the bongo has a “brother”. all will become clear soon enough.
  2. My sisters cousin in law lives 15 miles away - if it was cheaper than this fish supper I’ve found at a restaurant in Rhyl, I’d get her to send her friends fiancé…
  3. My mate is more of a guitarist but loved when I recorded some parts for him with a stingray. He wanted that sound for future demos and got a Sterling Ray (at the time about £700) and it was blummin lovely. If you can try both…see what you think. For no reason other than financial, I’d look for a second hand full fat Musicman £900-£1300 seems to be normal for them. A lot of bass for that kind of money. Also, the lesser spotted EX range which were made in Japan. They’re wonderful too.
  4. No. It’s the space I reserve for mistakes.
  5. I’m up there a fair bit…don’t see the point in it being there if it’s not being used
  6. Think the Egyptian Smoke would be better with a lighter pickguard, just looks a bit “metal” as it is. This is stunning though - and I’m sorely tempted
  7. I’d love to make a rash decision on this. but as I’m firmly stuck in the 80’s I’d lose my head popping the c by accident. fume. i know @lee650 would mock me,
  8. HOOOOFFFTTT did a bit of happy wee then. had a piezo 4h, didn’t know a stingray could sound even more direct. Ace instrument
  9. How did I miss this? d’oh. if it doesn’t sell. Let me know
  10. We’ll see mate. Covers a lot of ground does an SR5. Might just be enough.
  11. If I can’t find a blue/orange/red/green/purple bongo 5 HH…this will remain as my 5. And if someone snaps the yamaha up…it shall also remain. It’s a total winner this bass.
  12. Yeah. Odd that… think the gallery website needs updating
  13. Ignore the price etc. I want a Bongo 5HH, I know there’s one at Bass Direct. Wanted something a bit less…er…grey. So offering a 1993 trans Teal Musicman SR5 as trade fodder. No skin off my nose if this doesn’t sell. Love the thing, and if my Yamaha bb1600 sells I’m removing it from offer. has a brand new black pickguard from WD music. Also has a cream Pearl one (looks so much better with black. Has been played in its 29 years. little knocks and dents. but from the front looks really tidy. Nice Birdseye maple neck etc. Just seeing if anyone fancies a change/swap.
  14. I keep on going back to it… Both tracks aren’t screaming “awesome comeback” really. But I’m still hopeful for the album. Also, listening to The Getaway a lot this week. Bloody love that album.
  15. absolutely. The plan was a 5 string bongo - but this totally shook me as it’s the bongo in my head…desert gold 4HH. I still need a 5, and the one at bass direct is winking at me. Think SR5 will be offered up to achieve that step as bb1600 is slow.
  16. It’s staying in the Basschat family with @Eldon Tyrell Waiting for the courier (man and van) to pass through Manchester - slow boat…better than “lost or smashed” boat.
  17. Yeah. Something like that. insult to injury, my distraught brother (who was about 8/9 at the time) conducted a mini funeral in the back garden. the next day he came to check on the plot…to find next doors cat enjoying slow baked hamster on the lawn.
  18. Damnit… Wife’s just caught me rubbing one out to this: now she wants a divorce: thanks Walshy ☹️
  19. Don’t put hamster cages in a conservatory. don’t ask me how I know this.
  20. I’m saying it’s 99.9% my old bass.
  21. Erm. There’s another one. Poster Child. wow. It’s not great.
