  1. It’s nicely weighted - having a mare with work so won’t get to weigh it tonight as I’m straight off to band…and the digital scales need a battery 🤦🏻
  2. same… extension means rest of house needs doing too so it all adds up.
  3. yeah - we’ll see. The wife’s shopping list for the extension is growing…
  4. Not sure on this - but Johnny Architect is nipping over to look at the extension plans next week and my wallet is sweating. Im 99% sure this is the second time I’ve owned this bass: they’re phenomenal. Desert gold, light weight (9lbs ish) and plays…well, not much effort required. It’s a 2004/5 - is showing some of its age - little nicks and the satin neck is shinier around frets 1-7. But it’s stunning. The typical little mark on the headstock (so many bongos get it) - but everything else is a stare at it for 10 minutes and spot it kind of thing. wearing new slinkies. no case - so need to sort something. £25 shipped no insurance £45/£50 insured or collection/tryouts welcome
  5. Just a beautiful bass… but, just signed off on a huge extension…so…got to behave. waited a long time to find one. replaced every screw - black pickguard screws, pickup screws etc. New Gotoh 201 Bridge as original bridge (will be included) was tarnished. Worth noting that screw hole pattern was different to 201 so holes were drilled and refilled by a luthier (Steve Curtis - Manchester guitar repair). Sound wise - think Marcus Miller…erm. Yeah that. Volume/Selector/bass/treble/mid select - you can adjust sweep and frequency of the mids - 3 selections available. some minor edge scratches/swirls - but it’s from the mid 90’s. Very clean overall. it’s stunning actually…might withdraw, see how we go. It will come in a Warwick Rockbag - so would prefer not to ship…but can at buyers risk/cost. £25 uninsured £45/£50 insured Happy for trials etc.
  6. Well. I did my usual. went mad and started buying multiples. just signed off on a massive extension so going to start moving gear: Comes with Musicman hardcase and spare white pickguard. 2000 - has the dummy coil, slightly hotter output than my 1993 Smoother sounding overall - Rosewood is delightful on the board. Maple neck is Birdseye all over. Pickguard is a musicman Pearl one from the 90’s and looks stunning. The original white is available (in some photos). At some point in its life it’s had a very high level finish repair near the mid knob - shows in daylight but untraceable by touch. i didn’t notice it until Bass direct had shipped it. Other than that, for 22 years there are some minor marks/scratches but at first glance…it’s in great condition. Buzzed like a bugger and was filthy when I got it: I spent plenty of time on making it right - it plays exactly the same as teal now. They’re magic. 10.6lbs shipping in the UK will be £45/50 insured, £25 uninsured (take your own insurance/risk) or you’re welcome to collect.
  7. Had a chance of an earlier one with the Warwick (style or licensed) 2 piece bridge for silly money… should’ve had it - was honeyburst.
  8. Love it. Love these basses. looks great. absolutely skint…BADDDD NEWS
  9. Sabre Classic into GK head and Vanderklay 212.
  10. Yeah, the pic/vid before is just a social media teaser thing. will check for other links/sites it will be available from too - as it stands it’s not out to listen to
  11. Thank you mate. was chuckling to myself last night doing some admin - I was assaulted at work on Friday and have only just mustered the energy to do stuff. We are releasing a single every 2 weeks… I was watching James Bond (all on Amazon prime currently…) and at the end of each film it says “James Bond will return in…” so once this is done…Flying Oceans will return with “The Doctor”
  12. So after a hilarious 18 months of messing about, personnel changes and drama galore… I’ve managed to drag the band kicking and screaming across the finish line with a run of 9 singles. Which will eventually form an Album. The first song has had two versions, originally a demo I had done was referring to as “Rhymes” and we played it with a different singer. We also had a song called “Circles” which was (if you read the “auditions for the 602” thread) used to audition guitarists remotely during lockdown. That audition song is now under another name…and “Rhymes” became “Circles” with a new (old) singer… still with me? Andyhow - very pleased with the outcome. Official release date is 27/05. https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/flyingoceans/circles IMG_6475.MOV An odd mix of Kings Of Leon and the Red Hot Chili Peppers… only a short clip for now, but the above link will take you to the “pre save” for Apple and Spotify.
  13. So release day looms…after all the messing about… pre save link is here https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/flyingoceans/circles IMG_6475.MOV
  14. A very close friend of mines band had their rehearsal room emptied the night before a gig. he was a guitarist and had “spares” - his bassist had an Epiphone EB-3 and that had gone. i turned up to work the next day and lent him my Rickenbacker 4003. it was brand new. the lad, Jim (who I only knew a bit) cried when he realised what I was offering. he did the gig (big hands, Manchester) and bought me my drinks that night. i would…if there was a link. And if I were present. otherwise. Nope.
  15. @gafbass02 the Fett decals are cool
  16. Well… currently… A musicman stingray 5, but as a 4…I like the contours and pickguard with bongo hh electronics. that’d do it. in this colour.
  17. Sorry guys more clarification. we’re trying new stuff out. so far comparison made most is early chili peppers meets kings of Leon. send me a pm if you’ve posted… been a busy few days. Apologies.
  18. The pickups “look” like rb pickups. Think that’s what was alluded to.
  19. I listened to Exile on Main Street today. apart from Tumbling dice it’s a right turd of an album
  20. Long shot - have a double band gig booked for 26th June, Sunday - a field/stage setup. Up to an hour set. It’s in Belthorn/Blackburn. Originals preferred. We had a band set up but two of their guys can’t do it. Also open to singer/songwriter soloist if bands not available. We’ll do PA/Gear - and punters. bring your own too obviously… Sorry if this seems a bit random or is in the wrong part of the forum… Trav x
  21. Don’t suppose you fancy a swap for some musicmans 🤪
  22. I like Simply Red Oasis Red Hot Chili Peppers Jamiroquai Level 42 bands who are cool to call “crap” in most people’s opinions… im not cool. Heh.
  23. Rubner DB ones or Schaller Da Vinci (preferably slightly larger sized peg head)
  24. I just said to her “go and research it all…there’s about 35 years you missed before green day…”
  25. My daughter referred to Green Day as “the original punk band”. I’m still crying a bit inside.
