Well, all being well - this arrives tomorrow. June 1993 SR5 Teal - not 100% sure on pickguard, I’ve bought a black one in preparation. It’s had a life. Hopefully it will have another with me. See if my five string playing “skills” still exist…

Guild Pilot and an affiliation with Ibanez were definitely in the running in about 1984-7. Guild advert was 1986 The Ibanez was when he was playing in 1984/5 Also Hartke. Just a shame it was all a bit late.

The law of diminishing returns. the difference between a £75 Amazon starter bass and a good £400 Ibanez should be a huge difference…between the good £400 Ibanez and the £4000 Fodera will most likely be noticeable but less so. Essentially you pay more and more for smaller incremental changes - wood choices etc. It’d be interesting to compare that Ibanez SR300 and that Fodera I put up earlier… I suppose Scott Devine did a similar thing with the Sire/AJ presentation…I thought the Low B was better on the Sire…but the overall tone was “nicer” on the Fodera.

I think Flea had a lot more to do with that album than anything before or after - as in songwriting, lyrically too. I find it’s a bit patchy and overblown at points. Honestly, any band, anyone would’ve struggled to follow up BSSM - and as JF had so much to do with that album - it’s no surprise that it jars a little.

I’d go allparts body and neck, probably pickguard too. the bridge was a Schaller 3d Roller in gold, and then some hipshot hb2 in gold (unless you find gold fender ones, pretty unlikely). a 62 reissue fender pickup and Kiogon loom… and then someone will have a good decal maker - be mindful a lot of the “tv logo” decals have some weird distortion as if it’s been scanned wrong… Looking forward to seeing this. A Nate neck would be a winner.

Got a dremmel? not sure if it’d work. obviously screws are made of butter… carve a slot into the “head” of what’s left. Flat head screwdriver…get it started out and then back it out…

Yeah, go around and dowel. or diagonal holes either side of each sheared screw - needlenose pliers…then dowel.

I picked one of these up for @TheGreekonce - was absolutely beautiful, every part as good as the USA version. Was a shame I had to send it onto him 😉
