1. I've got the NC250, brilliant amp. Free bump man!
 2.
good old duck valves! Just to chime in valves can SOUND 3X as loud they do not do 3X the stated wattage even when cranked into oblivion.
Ha, makes sense now. Gotta love valve amps..
 3.
eh? If it's a stock DR103, it's 100W rated output. They sound louder than equivalent rated solid state amps though. You might have some luck on The David Gilmour Forum
Valves always (afaik) triple the stated output, all my valve guitar heads have, as have any endorsement bass heads (which are valve).
 4. I'd been playing guitar for 10 years before I picked up bass, safe to say (I hope) that I don't sound like a guitarist playing bass.
 5. More views pleassseee? Want it at 1000 before I jet off to Frankfurt.
 6. Also - in addition - this has the original mallard valves.
 7. I use the iSight on my iMac to record the video and record the audio on Logic 8. I export it to .mp4 and then open Adobe Premiere CS5. I sync the audio and video up, do any cuts and compress everything on there. Output to .mpeg2! 'Appy days.
 8.
I've used one of these & they are seriously loud, it seemed to be as powerful as my trace 600 smx head & it sounded lovely too, Have a bump on me
Cheers man, I love the way it sounds - I just don't need it any more. Bump Up My Post !!
 9. Need this shifted ASAP. Very negotiable on price and will post you pay.
 10. I'm overwhelmed by the responses guys! As soon as I know the arrangements I'll get in contact with whoever I can. Can't thank you guys enough for the offers though!
 11. Just measured my jazz and it's 46" (ish) head to tail, quoting BA..
Small musical instruments may be carried as hand baggage if they are under 126cm (50in), as part of your free hand baggage allowance.
So here's me hoping they book with BA. Can I still be declined with it (even if it's under 50inches)?
 12.
The sadowsky might.....
Bloomin' eck! Just seen the price of them - right out of reach. haha
 13. Well, I'm thinking this is going in the hold - even musicians union just said 'if they're in a bad mood, it's not getting in'. Would one of those withstand 30 bags on top of it?
 14.
I don't think you can put a time limit on it.
I think the 10k rule is more of showing your dedication to music, however having done 10,000 hours.. yeah you do get substantially better (however, practicing 8 hours a day.. 7 days a week.. did help lots).
 15. Basically, there's a small chance I'll be performing at the Messe music show, however I don't have a hard case for my bass. There's a very slight chance the flight crew will allow me to have in in the cabin, but I'd rather not take the chance. Does anyone in the London/South East/West area have one I could borrow? I'd pay with what money I have and give you as many man-hugs as possible!
 16. I'll go down in the morning. Cheers man.
 17. Well, it's coming to the end of my 5th term on my degree (of 6) - so we've been given a songwriting task. We have to change a song.. completely. I'm taking 'just the way you are' by Bruno Mars, and turning it motown. Although the chord structure will change soon, and different chord types being used all over the shot.. this is where I am now. files.me.com/tomkentmusic/cyogw8.mp3 I'll be updating this as I move it on.. but yeah.. stage one! Edit; this might sound bad now.. but I've got a few weeks to sort out it. It'll be.. broadcast quality by the end.
 18. This time, I've done a very rough version of 'Grenade' by Bruno Mars. files.me.com/tomkentmusic/9dxj1x.mp3 Completely un produced, I'm going to do proper video'd versions of these soon - so keep a look out! Edit: A bit of guitar.. solo'ing as well - files.me.com/tomkentmusic/qfgxgu.mp3
 19.
Sorry we are a bit OT , Bass bash=slap=clutterbuck=Roto's=don't use Roto's
Well I hear Overwater's own brand of nickel 40-100's are pretty zingy too.
 20.
Free Elites or Roto's? If they are Roto's I would order the Elites tonight as they might take a few days to come
Oh you. Rotos, 45 - 105 (I think?) asked for 40 - 100's and got a stern look!
 21. Saw a bass with gaffatape strap locks this weekend, not impressed to say the least haha.
 22.
Im 100% certain if you find Rots last a long time then trying some Elites (2 sets for £30 Bass direct inc P&P I think) would last 20 times longer
I'll get a set after I've used the free ones from the bass show.
 23.
I have tried them many times, Ding! Ding!......dong..dead...Another £15 down the drain
Nah, that's just a Stingray.. rubbish. I'm yet to find a brand better than Rotosound for 'my' sound, and how they stay bright for ages.
 24.
Thats a pretty good job in itself as they only last a tenth of the time of other brands he must have his order book filled up every week!
They last 3 times the length of my other strings.
 25.
I will summarise: I started the OP to moan about machine gun, uber-loud show-off slapping and how it ruined bass shows Then some people said they hate slapping altogether, others said the anti-slappers are plain ignorant and missing out on bass' rich tapestry, and most said slapping is fine when done to suit the song (which is my position). Saves you wasting 20 minutes of your life!
The Saturday was horrific, I swear I've lost some of my hearing. The Sunday was good to an extent, except when the 30 minutes of silence was over it was a free-for-all. Thanks for the summary, I couldn't handle sifting through 10 pages.
