New bag, strings, (new amp potentially - more news in the coming weeks) and (new bass potentially - more news in the coming weeks). Got a magazine subscription too (free t-shirt of course )

I had an amazing time, can only thank BassGear for the free tix. If any of you went past the Krampera stand on the sunday, I was there doing some demoing (unofficially - and at one point on a Vintage fretless). The quality of the show was amazing, and for cheaper brands like Vintage, their basses have got AMAZING in comparison to only 7 months ago.
Just back from London bass show at Olympia. Say no more
HA. My exact thought really (sorry, I haven't read 10 pages of this). I told one of the stalls to, jokingly, put up 'no slappers allowed'. Alas, they did not.

Does Phil eat chocolate by any chance? I owe him big time.

I read it, but having not slept for a good 48 hours it made no sense. Can someone put it in a nutshell for me?
Funny that, people taking advantage of less well known bands to give them a boost. It is a real shame that promoters can't just be fair and atleast give the lesser bands a bit of dosh to help them out. The music inductry sure is tough. Chatting to a friend who is in an originals band he says he rarely gets paid gigs. That's very sad
It's a dog eat dog world, promotors are only in it for the £££, if you find one who says they're not.. they are. Some still have proper love for music, but love £££ more. I know an originals band whom made no profit for five years, gigged the London scene, and me bringing a mate along to a gig who worked for Sony ended up getting them signed. They're now fairly big, not mentioning names though as that's not their back story.
I prefer your version of 'Dynamite' over the original (and had to look it up to youtube to confirm what song it was - showing my age).. and 'JTWYA' made a nice start to the day with my morning coffee. Enjoyable. And now excuse me, I feel I need to practice more ..... Time spent on music is never wasted, IMHO...
Thanks man. I'm going to do a full length version (showing both parts) next week (assuming I can figure out how to export in 1080p on Premiere Pro).
But the playing, ideas and execution were good. Also, I was serious about those strings. Keep them!!
Cheers man. Bit late in regards to the strings, just changed them for the bass show. @EssentialTension - I've found loads of people not liking slap these days, maybe due to the over-use of it at times (when it's not needed anyway..)?

To anyone wanting coffee/beer with a fellow BC'er, text me o on the day (I'm happy with this being up, it's my main business line so it can be found pretty much anywhere anyway). See you on Saturday/Sunday all. http://basschat.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/%3C#EMO_DIR%23%3E/smile.png

Thanks for the nice comments guys
Also you should sync the pictures and sound.
I'm unfortunate in the extent of, I was (up until now) using iMovie to make these on the iSight camera. I've now got Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and I'm going to buy a decent DSLR/HD Cam in April. Production levels will be substantially higher soon, however till I sort out a new camera.. the FPS is gonna be awful.
Usually does'nt mean always.
I know, just saying. Just thought it was a bit pricy. My 1995 original Mex strat isn't even worth £300 at the moment. In MINT condition.

Never thought something I said would spark a topic! haha. Either way, it's just the way we are. We will critique from far away because we're afraid of voicing our opinion because we might be confronted? (perhaps.. is for me anyway) - which is.. (according to my American friends) a very British thing to do.
Squiers were made in Mexico, the Jazz basses usually had a one piece scratch plate with Strat type knobs.
Mine's a Mex and it's got normal knobs.
Or Piccadilly Line from Kings Cross all the way.

get off at West kensington saves you 10 minutes walking
You two are life savers, I hate walking at the best of times. Much love for you.

It's past selling now, but this caught my eye. eBay Fairly certain the volume knobs are off a Strat too.
Macs work for me - I get the things I want to do done on them - and I don't waste precious time and effort getting the f***ing software to run... they rarely crash and never get viruses - that's good enough for me to pay the extra cash.
This is the whole reason I own one. I've got an iPhone but I'm not getting an iPad because.. I don't want a big-overpriced iPhone.

I've had a few ideas for various melodic and chordal based things for soloing on bass recently, thought I'd throw some down on video (it's reminded me how much I love slapping.. but how much I hate dead strings).
It would be a great to bounce ideas off folks in person and figure out how best to do this. I'm prepared to help organise a Jamerson bass bash, but some advice and help would be great - being in a small team to do it even better! Is anyone able to meet up in central London to chat about this, say next week, preferably early evening, pub or whatever?
I'm passing through London on Friday, in all day Saturday & Sunday and passing through on Monday. Lunch on Monday perhaps?
