1. EBS ! , in the classifieds there are 2 that I know of.
2. Great Price !! but have no cash.
3. I had a 15'' Scout radiator and used to tilt it up to aim more at my ears general direction and would notice less resonance, which was a good thing playing on hollow bouncy stages. Just my opinion of my experience.
4. I expect you will be defeating the purpose of the passive radiator when the scout cab is in the flight case .
5. http://greatbritishbasslounge.com Looks great !!
6. Job done !
7. Please no more bumps as I need this post to disappear untill I get some cash 😬,
8. A guitarist I know has one of these or similar http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/70kg-folding-trolley-n48jq The larger circumference and softish wheels reduce shocks to the load.
9. Hi all , was wondering if there are any GK MB II cab owners here or Neo cab owners that could share there experiences ?
10. I used to use the handle on mine for short distances or for positioning , and longer distances I would cradle it like a baby , never was keen on all the bumps that trolleys or casters can transmit to amps.
11. Sorry to hear about your inflammatory arthritis and I hope you can continue playing. I would expect you would loose some coupling as you raise the passive radiator off the floor but the walkabout head has oodles off bass so it can easily added if you need it. Another option could be to offload the cabs and purchase a pair of TKS 112's as they are very light.
12. Why would you need casters ?
13. Sorry Mojo can help anymore.
14. There is plenty of guys using the walkabout at 2ohm on talkbass , I was also emailed from a guy who's friend works for mesa and the walkabout was tested at 2ohm with no issues ( as stated in the email ) .
15. Guitarists only need a 1x12 25-30w combo , that's what the guys used that I used to play with , and the guitars had a lovely sound and it was a sensible volume. I auditioned for a band a few months ago and the guitarists had a 4x12 each , they didn't even need a bass player as there was so much bass comming from the closed back cabinets, I declined the invitation to join as life's too short for screaming guitars at practice and small pub corners.
16. I had a 15" 4ohm combo and needed to roll off the low frequencies as they played havoc on hollow stages , used to tilt the cab up a bit to try and decouple the passive driver.
17. You could buy the guitarist a http://www.thdelectronics.com/product_page_hotplate.html each , xmas is around the corner.
18. I had a quick squiz over the 12" diary but haven't checked it lately , better gave a peek - thanks !
19. Weight is a consideration so can go modular , it seems GK, TKS , and Barefaced have lightweight ferrite's available so we may see some great sounding , lightweight more affordable cabs appearing soon .
20. There is a TKS advert below ! check that out
21.
Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to have all my stuff serviced and decide what to keep. Probably keep the black face Bassman head and Ampeg cab, shift on the full silver grill Fender head/cab, Ashdown and possibly my 1998(roughly) USA Fender Jazz 70's reissue (Blonde/black scratch and black block inlays) no point being sentimental I remember being a young pup aching to acquire them so it's a shame to have them just lying around when they could be gigging and used. Plenty to think about but I'm impressed by the Barefaced cabs and company in general. Thanks again!!!
If you do go with a barefaced cab make sure you have plenty of Watts, I was sold one but it was only loud enough for 70% of my gigs even though we had foh and a 1x12 guitar on the other side of a drummer that was not bashing the skins. Just my experience !
22.
It's a match made in heaven. I didn't want to go down the Neo route for my own reasons. I'd nearly given up on finding ferrite drivers in lightweight boxes, but I stumbled across the TKS stuff just in time. They've got so much life and authority - I never worry about the WA running out of steam.
Great ! thanks.
23. I have been looking at the TKS stuff, WOT do you find the ferrite's a good match for the walkabouts 300W ?
24. So from what I can decipher from the post is that Neo drivers require more power than a Ferrite driver, but still haven't found out if the ferrite drivers used today are the same as the ones used decades ago ?
25. Thanks Chaps, I forgot about the flatter , exteded frequency response.
