How the hell do some people treat their basses?!
WonderHorse replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
thats the most ridiculous thing to say.if i work hard(i do) and earn the money to buy the gear i want(i do) i can do whatever i like with it.and treat it however i like. they're only tools.beat the sh*t out of them i say.

if an instrument works properly and is fit for use,i have absolutely no interest or opinion on its aesthetic condition. and to suggest that not anally cleaning and polishing a piece of wood, somehow means that as a person you are somehow deficient is bollocks.

The cosmetics don't matter one jot. I'm very much of the opinion that if you save up and spend your money on anything you can do whatever you like with it chips, dents, scratches, dirt, all irrelevant.

You can say the same about Cars , some people waste hours of their lives polishing them on Sunday mornings ? If you want to keep a bass looking like new then fine, thats your perogative, but others don't care , doesn't make them 'less of a person' and whatever they do with their basses is entirely their choice.
A seletion of quotes that make sense. I prefer to play my bass rather than sit there polishing it and getting to that speck of dust under the strings. Same with my motorbikes - I ride them rather than spend all day cleaning the things. They're only tools. -

I've taken the plunge and bought a Sansamp Para DI from DV247. For what I want it seems the best option. Thanks Dood forsuggesting this one. I'll post a review in the reviews section in a few weeks or so.

Thanks Dood. I'd not even looked at that one.

Normally I don't post threads asking for advice on products but I'm a bit stuck. After the weekend I'll be selling my Marshall VBC412 and TE GP7SM 130 head (look out for them on the for sale section next week), as I don't really need them. Anyway, I'm looking to replace these with a DI/Overdrive pedal Here's my favourites so far: MXR M80 Sansamp BDDI Sansamp Bass Driver Porgrammable Dave Hall VT1 EQ Bass Drive I'd be using the pedal live and for recording - for everything pretty much. I plan to run it through the effects loop on my Fender Rumble 100 or straight to the desk live. For recording I would jsut run it straight to the desk. I like the idea of the programmable Sansamp just 'cos I can have different sounds should I ever need them, can I do this with the rest? I've been leaning towards the Dave Hall VT1, but then I read reviews of the Sansamps and they're all good. Help? **EDIT** Should maybe include that the sound I'm looking for is Entwistle/Geddy Lee. Nice growly jazz sound

An acoustic version of our song This is the Right Time. This was recorded when I wasn't there and I had no idea they were doing it until our guitarist sent me the link. Still... let us know what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8KDYN14J98

I can just about do triplets with three fingers, but I can't seem to do anything other than that. That just seems to be the only rhythm I can do with three fingers.
I always noodle "The Magnificant Seven" in warm-ups, actually very simple but sounds like it should be harder. Also "Rock the casbah" and "London Calling" are great and easy to play
Can't forget White man in Hammersmith Palais. -

WonderHorse replied to WonderHorse's topic in General Discussion
Thanks -
Morning all. I know there's a efw of you on here from Peterborough and the surrounding area so I was wondering if any of you knew of some decent practice rooms. The practice rooms we were usign have been shut down and we've tried a place in Kings Cliffe but it was pretty pants and is in the arse end of nowhere. Thanks

What's the 'bass of the moment' for you?
WonderHorse replied to OutToPlayJazz's topic in Bass Guitars
I don't think I'll ever fall out of love with my '75 RI Fender Jazz. Would like another jazz - rosewood fingerboard, flats, white with tort p'guard '51 P bass is doing it for me at the minute as well. -
I must admit this has slightly dented my thoughts about purchasing Barefaced. Good, honest review all the same.
-
I think I will end up waiting for a Double Midget. But I'd like to hear a Purple Chili when a couple of the guys on here get one.
-
I bought BGM yesterday to read the review. I'm not a regular reader of BGM, I occasionally buy it when I'm in Smiths. But half the time it doesn't even cross my mind, probably 'cos it's sh*t. I'd gone through the entire mag in less than 20 minutes and I was trying to make it alst 'cos I was on a train. Anyway, sorry for the derail. The Compact is now out of the equation and I'm now looking at a Double Midget and either a PCB112NT or PCB212NT. Not sure which, any thoughts?
