You REALLY need to check out the Barefaced Midget. You're not going to believe that something that small can sound so good.
+1 on the midget and loud with it -
Does anyone know if the pjb bass suitcase +4B cab would be loud enough for playing pubs/small venues ?. Thinking about getting rid of my TE rig for something a bit easier to move around as i keep smashing my wrists on door frames, really like the sound on pjb stuff but never really inquired about the power. Any help would be appreciated thanks =) Callum
Dont use one myself but a friend does and having heard him play in a number of venues I think it will depend on how loud your band is, full tilt rock drummer will leave you well out of the mix but for something a bit more blues/ jazz you wont have any troubles at all. And you need to like a clean sound PJB does'nt do dirty. I considered the same set up but but it was not what I really wanted I now have Barefaced compact/tecamp puma much louder and a lot more bottom end. I guess what I'm saying is you really need to try it out before you buy its a bit of a specialised sort of set up more popular with the upright players which is also the reason my mate bought one john

Teamp puma 350 is 250watt into my compact and it produces a very big sound at suprisingly high volume levels. I tried out a genze but thought the sound to cold for my taste also tried the GK mb2 much warmer sounding than the Genze and I would have bought one but for the Tecamp coming along at a price I could'nt resist and to date I am very happy with it. Its worth remembering that the compact is very efficient and will produce much higher sound levels for a given number of watts than you would expect. I guess the only way to be sure is to try them. john
Line out is a far hotter signal, .5 to 2 Volts compared to millivolts for Mic level. It is usually provided to drive another amplifier rather than sending to a mixer. Most sound men will want a Mic level, balanced signal that matches everything else arriving at their desk and if you are connecting via a snake then it will be down balanced XLR connections. If I don't mic a guitar amp I will run a short lead from the line out of the amp to a DI box and from there to the desk. A line out is normally a feed from the preamp so is more likely to be post EQ. You would have to check the individual unit's documentation to be sure.
Hey someone else from Portsmouth
Hi John We regularly play at the Admiral Drake in Portsmouth. Would you be averse to me testing it out at a gig situation? I promise to be gentle ;-) Thanks Mike
know the Drake well used to play there a lot some years back. I'm more than happy to let you try it out at a gig not much point in trying it anywhere else really I could even bring along my little tecamp puma 350 if you wanted to hear the compact driven by another amp. Could bring the Eden but its so damn heavy. let me know when your playing and I'll book you in ( like my social calender is that full ) john
Will definately have to try one out. I am not sure when I will next be over at Brighton way. Is it possible to collect during working hours as I am sure I could find something I need to do over that way as I work for WSCC ;-) Thanks Mike
Hi Mike if it helps I live in Farlington near Havant and guess what I use a compact if your playing over this way at all I would be quite happy to bring it along and let you try it out gives me an excuse to go out for a beer.
Hi guys, can anyone recommend a decent am case or amp bag for my MArkBass SA450 head. I am trying to avoid paying £90 odd quid for the Markbass one, as much as I would love it... I would prefer a bag over a flight/brief case style bt will consider anything that people have some experience and success with. I have tried all the local shops for a standard padded messenger style bag, but have not found one that is large enough for the head... Shep
Someone has already mentioned these but heres mine in use with my Tec-amp Puma 350, Maplins £15
Quick question for those who took these pics and to those IN the pics - does anyone mind if some of these are used in BGM in the next issue? I'll try and find out what happens regarding copyright and so on, but I didn't want to just let the editor choose from these pics without your permission. Also if you are in one of the pics and maybe you told the wife you were at work/doing DIY or whatever and you would prefer not to appear in the mag, please also let me know. Cheers ped
Be my guest wife didnt care where I was going ..... as long as I was going
