I would say more dark sounding and less full-on than a Musicman, but probably a bit more of an agile sound than a precision. I'm not particularly well educated about those other two basses though.

Thanks for the post - just to reiterate these basses are absolutely, unequivocally German made as I believe the serial number has confirmed above. Jimbobothy rightly points out: the fully adjustable Warwick bridge is not present, and nor is the swamp ash body. The neck and fretboard is fully identical to the other German models from the time.

Absolutely. Haven't pushed it on here as a close (non-bassist) friend has been using it to learn on and off for the past few months. But I'm still keen to sell, moreso now that he's moving away and can't use it anymore. PM on its way.

Hi all,

I'm looking at selling my (early 2009) Warwick Corvette. It's ash, passive, and fretless. Tigerstripe ebony board, straplock system, really nicely figured wood with a natural oil finish. It's been very well maintained, and used only with flats so is in tip top condition. Soundclips are available on request. Can ship with a gig bag and original case documents etc. I'm looking for £300.

A little realisation I thought to myself just now. I've recently sold a Warwick Corvette for under £500 and bought a Sandberg fretless for the same price. I also have a fretless corvette.

Now I don't know about you. But the way that all of these basses are put together with very nice wood that doesn't warp, have well designed, strong hardware, hold their tune indefinitely, have dead straight necks with very low action, and sound lovely is really striking. It seems there's quite a lot of basses like this that go for 700-900 new, 400-500 used, and are near-perfect bass purchases. Anyone agree?

However, I've never tried a Wal, or a Fodera, or a Ken Smith. Can someone describe what they're like?

this sometimes happens to me on fretless too and I think it's more of an issue with timing your left hand and right hand. Fretting a note without plucking it usually makes a clicking sound, but depending how you time your plucking hand it might not be there - instead you'll almost be plucking it just *as* your left hand frets the note, so you'll get a nice poppy attack rather than a click. Also, playing with a lighter, slower touch in the left hand helps, so that you're not bashing the string into the frets as much.

Afternoon all,

Being as I only ever play fretless gigs these days (and have a cheapo fretted as a backup), I'm looking to sell my fretted Warwick Corvette 5 string:

Active (2 band) eq, with passive mode
J/J pickup arrangement
ovangkol, wenge, swamp ash (natural oil finish).

The bass balances beautifully, has been frequently waxed to keep the wood from drying, and sounds brilliant. Currently strung E-C with TI jazz flats, and since that's all I've used on it the frets are in great condition. I can throw in a Warwick gig bag, and am looking for £450. I'm based in Leeds.

Starts with more jazzy stuff, and then towards the end a bit of bridge pickup action and nice Warwicky growl.

Trade wise I *may* be open to another fretless, but I really don't need one and much prefer cash.
