1.
Yo!! ... I want to change out the EMG stuff for a pair of Nordstrand Big Singles and the same Glock pre amp that comes with the Sandbergs, just to get somewhere close to how they react. I have never changed out all the electronics on a bass before as have always been happy with whats in there. Do you guys think i will see a noticeable difference and get close to where i want to be as i have never done this before? Cheers Will
Carey's Big Singles are GREAT pickups. You won't be disappointed..... and you can get them in EMG soapbar size covers: http://nordstrandpickups.com/products/big-singles/ Did you consider going all passive (no preamp at all) ? That will definitely ad some grunt as well!
2. Didn't this one belong to Dave Swift? Anyway, my two Nordy VP5 are my main basses! GLWTS

10. Nordstrand Nordy VP5, my main basses for years
11. Paul Turner (Jamiroquai, Sister Sledge, ...) uses one with his TH500. I don't know if this helps, though.
12. I have no idea where your aggressive attitude is coming from. The OP has been asking for advice on maybe getting a dedicated preamp As you wrote, there is no real use for too much tone shaping before the FOH/MO desk, so suggested the REDDI instead of a preamp. Have you heard or played thru a REDDI?
13. I know that the sound in my inears is coming from a monitor desk onstage, with a signal split before it hits the stage snake
14. I am not being funny at all. It plaec mine for the last 5 years in every studio session and on every live gig. It just makes the sound better. There's something especially on the higher notes that makes them sound fatter and warmer. I leave the final tone shaping to the FOH guy and do minor tweaks using a RMI/Lehle Basswitch in front of the REDDI.
15. I'd use a A-Designs REDDI straight into the FOH
16. nice bass but how does it compare to the Epi JC?

18.
This is quite affordable: http://www.ibanez.co...d=63&color=CL01 http://www.andertons...-distressed.asp
I owned that one briefly, but I sent it back. This one is a short scale.
