I played one on a regular basis. What most people seem to forget is, that you can feed the whole monitor sound to the pad. So you not only get the thump from your bass, but you also get to feel the drums and therefore you may sync better wirth the drummer. To me, the only disadvantage is being tied to a small spot. Everything else is a plus to me.
