1.
Go on, Eric - you know you want to! Jon
The thing is. . . . . and you should have suspected this Jon. . . . . I already have one, in white. That one is also going to have some work done on it. Had it around 5 years and now got around to it yet. I have played one and ejoyed it - hence an addtion to "the herd" - as they say in the USA! Have a free bump on me, for a great headless bass. Cheers.
2. Luvverly. I had one of these, a few years back. As you say lightweight. Nice to play, punch with bite. The 800 was passive - has there been a mod? GLWTS. Cheers.
3. WOW! Very impressed! Sweet!!
4. Geoff, Hi. I see what you mean but these would have been fitted in the 80's/90's. I have had a thought. . . . . I bought some "Rainbow" pick-ups, in the late 70's/very early 80's, for a guitar project and never fitted them. One those, the whole pick-up was resin. Is/Was Rainbow anything to do with Armstrong?? Anyone? Cheers.
5. I am now started on the Reeve. What I thought were custom wooden covers on the pick-ups, seem to be very cleverly done in resin!! Having lifted one out, I am no wiser as to who made them. Over to you.
6. Mmm. Very Nice and pretty rare, especially as it has the original case! Sweet.
7. Oooooo! Very Nice!!!
8. Never recall seeing the micro on any ZZB and then two pop up in a couple of days!! Comments welcomed from Bloodaxe!
9. Thanks for your input. You are right about the attention to detail - if you did follow the link I put up, you can see the allen key that screws out of the body - The string retainer and bridge, seem to be custom made for this bass. The pick-ups (don't know what they are yet) have got custom wooden covers. My next step is to get it all sorted ansd running again - as it says in the blog, it is exactly how I received it, I have done nothing to it. Will keep you posted. Cheers.
10. Nice. Rare maple board - don't see many of them. I have one that is a Blueburst, which doesn't have the lightening stripe across the body. More interesting - you seem to have some sort of Micro tuning, at the bridge? Not seen the before - mine doesn't have it. Got a closer pic? Cheers.
11.
I remember them. They were very well known in the Luton music scene back in the 80's and had a workshop next to their house on Gooseberry Hill. Their attention to detail was truly astounding for the time and, as a fresh faced teen, owning a Reeve was high up on my list of 'must haves'. Sadly that never happened.
Brilliant. Just what I am looking for. Did you used to live in the Luton area? Anything else you can tell me at all, would be much appreciated. Cheers.
12. Looking for anyone out there who may have any info. Reeve Guitars. Some years ago, there was a guitar and bass maker, called Reeve, who were based in the Luton area. This was my first one: This is the second one: I have tracked down several other owners but would like to know more about Reeve. The company folded many years ago, as one of the brothers passed away. Anyone out there know of them, seen one/played one. . . . . Got One?? I put this out a few years ago - I am hoping that someone new has come along that may be able to help with some more info. More details and pics, here: http://flatericbassa...blogspot.co.uk/ Fingers crossed - Hope to hear from anyone with anything they can add. Cheers.
13. Jon - I'm loving seeing your more extreme tastes in basses but it's the bike that caught my eye. . . . . . VERY nice indeed!
14. It's a bit of a read but if you want to know all about the T-40, go here: http://flatericbassa...0-begining.html Read and scroll down, when you get to the bottom, click on "newer posts" and it will take you to the next part of the story. Lots of info and pics - Chip Todd helped with compiling it. Cheers.
15. I see all the usual suspects on here, so may as well jump aboard. There are differences between the earlier ones and the later ones. If you can, try both. Cocco has both. Not that either one is better than the other - your preference may lean one way, after you have had a go. Any other questions, fire away!
16. This is one of my "Still don't get it moments" These are Cracking basses and a joy to play, for the price of something that is nowhere near as good made in the far east, second hand! £250.00!! A BARGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
17. Collected my new Genz Benz Contour cab, the other night! Top bloke, cab looks like new, plugged it in at rehearsal last night - Brilliant. VERY pleased with the deal. Thanks mate. Cheers.
18. Nice basses. I'd forgotten about this old thread - having a look through is quite entertaining!
19.
Aria Pro II SB Elite, phantom blue, http://www.gumtree.c...itar/1066406241
Nice! Cheap! - Mine was considerably more than that! Buy! Someone, quick! Luvverely Bass.
20. Oooooo! This really caught my eye!! We thought it would be quite easy to find a new drummer, after many years with the previous one. How wrong could we be!! Eight months, 5 deps and way too many auditions! I really wouldn't want to got throuhg that all over again! We are very kind and thoughtful to out new drummer - help him with his kit, put him on a pedestal - well the last one's not true but almost. In truth - it was a nightmare. From what we found - there are a LOT of people out there who call themselves "a drummer" and say they can play drums - in reallity. . . . . . . . there are very few! Anyone currently going through this process, has my sympathy! Good luck.
21.
Any of you been like this, or still like this? I've been playing bass for two years and I have three basses. My most recent acquistion was only a few weeks ago, but it has done nothing to extinguish the GAS. I crave basses. I want P basses. Lots of them. I want Jazzes. Warwicks. Spectors. Sterlings. MMs. Gibson. Wals. I just need basses. I need them like a thirsty addict. I have problems. I want Ibanez. I want MTD. Lakland. You name it, if I see it, I want it. And not one. I want several. I want it in blue. I want it in green. I want it in black. Blonde. Natural wood finish. I want one with that pickup configuration, but one with this configuration too. I want one with a black pickguard, one with a white pickguard and one with pearl. I want one with a roseboard and one with maple. I'm sick. I'm unwell and hopelessly addicted. Only a lottery win can save me. No rehab on the planet can fix me. I need basses. Lots of them. Now.
Oh dear - you have it bad - that's how I started off, a long time ago! Best not take any advice from me! If you do start getting some of them together - label the cases! That's all I can offer in terms of help!
22.
Is that a carpet I see under the basses in the pic above? Also, if you give your left eye a good squint you can just make out what looks to be a pair of curtains?
Ha - Ha I'm now laughing because I had to read it three or four times - I didn't get it. Got it now - Very funny!! Cheers.
23.
No pic, and going on Christies' description, not one of these: More likely a Ned Callan Cody "Nobbly Ned", prob'ly this very one:
Correct.
24. 000000000000000000000000
25. Yi, Yi, Yi!!!! Big Dollars, Johnnie!! I got me two of these, so all of a sudden I'm quite well off!! For those who are interested. . . . . From what Peter told me, John never had one/played one, to his knowledge. He was drafted in for the photo shoot. On the other hand, they are quite interesting and give out quite a nice tone. Definately a vintage feel to it - a la 60's/70's. I think there are a couple on regular BCer's who own one. Hands up, then! Perhaps a bit on the pricey side. . . . perhaps! Cheers.
