1. Hi. That certainly is a bit different. I like unique instruments - don't think I'll see another one like that. Would be interested to see some of the others. Cheers.
2. I have one of these. Leave it well alone, trust me - they are great basses - a proper work tool, blend control, mixing two more than adequate pick-ups, great neck - nice weight and balance. Use it as it is. Cheers.
3.
Spectacular! I knew these existed, previously I'd only seen these scraggy little Ebay pics from about 5 years ago: So - how much, and where from? I want one! J.
Easy, Jon - Easy! I suspect you have had a major GAS attack but it will pass. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Perhaps!!!!! 4.
Only song you know with two bassists? Just some fun trivia here (by the way this is an awesome Phil Lynott thread... cool double neck... and for what it's worth I have a double neck guitar/bass that shares the same output - silly, but true) anyhow.... other songs with >1 bass Walk on the wild side and big bottom are two classic examples of 2 or 3 bassist on the same song (3 I think in each case but I'm not honestly sure - although big bottom is only arguably a real song... ;-) My instrumental jazz fusion band Charivari back in the 90s had two bassists for at least two songs in one of our studio albums... of course I wrote both the songs and having been the original bassist before moving to guitar with another bassist joining it was only a matter of time before we had duelling fretless bass stuff going on LoL. Doesn't really count though - nobody knows who I am or who that band LoL donovan had some songs with two bassists, or at least two bass parts... mostly in his big hits that were produced and arranged by John Paul Jones (no surprise there is lots of bass in those tracks ;-) does it count? not sure: much of the early beach boys stuff in the studio (carole Kaye with Brian also playing and sometimes another cat also) Pink Floyd's One Of These Days (David is a heck of a bassist too... back in the waters days they experimented more) Aerosmith - back in the saddle (6 string bass for lead parts!)
Hi. Genuinely interesting stuff but have you found that twin for me yet? Anyone out there with any info? Cheers.
5.
Heatwave used to play at The Trog bar in Hull in the mid 70's, think they were called Chicago Heatwave at that time. Even back then they were obviously destined for better things. They had a local agency managing them, and somehow were still doing working mens club gigs when they had a top 40 single!!
Priceless!! The Trog Bar I'd forgotten about that - went there several times, bit unusual! Anyone got any pics of the place - 35mm, I guess. What is there now - Bar or Tesco??
6. Oh my, Oh my!! Verrrrrreeeeeeee Nice.
7. Time to bring this to the top again. I still have had no luck tracking this down. Any info at all, would be great More pics here. http://www.thinlizzyguide.com/tours/dates/1982/820704.htm Stands back for a deluge of posts, with all the info that is out there. . . . Cheers.
8. What a truly great line ups of BC'ers and gear!! Right from the begining of this, I knew I couldn't go - another pressing engagement but it looks like it will be a great day. I went to the Nottingham one, a couple of years ago and had a great time. Good look to all who attend, I'm sure it will be a great day. . . . . . maybe make it next year!
9. For what it's worth. . . . . I have a set of these and through a half decent chorus pedal (mine is a Boss) it sounds great. Budget bass pedals! Time to go all prog!!!!
10. Double "P" basses. . . . . . Just brilliant! Shame you are moving it. . . . . are you sure?????
11. Sweet. From the pics, they look the business. It would be great if more players just had a go with these - Cocco has one of my old Sunburst Blades and as a big fan of the Forty's, I'm sure he would like to see these go to good homes. Top Basses.
12.
Thanks mates! Just for the record, I own one of those "very sought-after" 1966 Jazz bass, typical transition model (dots and binding fingerboard). Well, this 71 is in every respect as great as that other one. Light, resonant, and the PUs sound stunning. Construction-wise is quite simply a perfect Jazz Bass. And the condition is one of the best I have seen.
I have a '72, in much the same sort of condition. When I first played it, I was with a bass friend - he said "what's it like to play?" I said, "it's like it's got magic in it!" If it's anything like mine, the new owner would not be disappointed. Really, really nice. Good luck - hope it goes to a good home and gets played and not put under the bed!! Cheers.
13. Oooooooooooooo, so tempting!!!
14. I've got two of these and the Eight. For the quality, sounds and playability of these things, you are offering a real bargain there!! Ibanez of this era, IMO, are just stunningly good. Top Bass.
15. A really great band and linked to my very few claims to fame! My old gaffer was their tour manager, in the late seventies. I got to re-string and set up the guitars and basses, just before they headed off to the USA - 1979, I think - but not long after, Johnnie had a car accident. Along with Gino Vanelli, AWB & Earth Wind and Fire, blasting away all day, on a little "briefcase" deck, we had - Too hot to handle and Central Heating were in there pretty much every day. I only have to hear one of the tracks and I'm transported back to a time when they were so many great bands, of the same persuasion. As spongebob says, they truly had some bad luck, almost from the word go. Think I'll go and dig out some Heatwave. Priceless!
16. I may be able to help. PM me and I'll see what I can do for you.
17. Well. . . . . Anyone on here, who knows me, will tell you about my Peavey credentials. Your Special, however, gets my full approval. Very Nice! I have a T-45 - Pretty much, the same sort of vibe. Enjoy and don't feel guilty, at all! Sweet! Cheers.
18. Anyone near to this. . . . GO! This man could make a fence rail with the worst strings in the world, nailed to it - with the most questionable pick-up - make you wide mouthed and in awe. Too far away for me but for locals. . . . take advantage!
19. Nice, I had one of these. Never seen one that colour - suits it. Might be worth pointing out that this is a medium scale, with Tri-Sound. Cheers.
20. I have abrasive padst that I use, in several different grades. I get is from a specialist suppliers but have got the same thing from Machine Mart. Non ferrous - no issues - just does the job. Cheers.
21. Just
I'm after a set of these now too. Not the short, narrow grub screws for adjusting the height of the action; but the long ones with springs around them for setting intonation. Some careless bugger allowed the ones on my new Geddy Lee J to get horribly rusty! Has anyone tried contacting BadAss (Leo Quan) direct in search of various spares? Is it even possible to do so? A quick Google search gives no contact details for the company...
Just spotted this. As before, I'm sure I can help. Let me know what you want. Cheers.
22.
Ishibashi ain't lying when they say that's a unique body shape
If you're talking about the Yam - I never knew they did a five string. I've got a four string, in Black. Very nice!
23.
Haven't really had a chance to photograph any of my recent purchases. So my RB924 has now been joined by an RB760, RB950 (thanks Nic) and RB850.
You have great taste in basses. I'll take the one on the right!!! Glad you got sorted. Cheers.
24. The 62 Re-Issues had the strip. Hear are two of mine. http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/fender-jazz-62-reissue-pink.html http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/fender-jazz-62-and-boys-at-work.html Click on the image to enlarge - you will clearly see the strips. VERY nice basses.
25. Stunned! How did you managed to avoid Stan the man, all these years. You must have been in a music shop and heard someone playing School Days. Maybe you just didn't realise who had perfomed it. Top player. Cheers.
