Cocco, what do the 2 switches do? series / parallel or split coil?
The switches are actually Pick-up selector and Phase switch. With both pick-ups on, the phase switch creates a hollow, out of phase tone, with both PU on full. If you roll off either of the volumes, you get a whole lot of other tones. The other thing it does is act as a Coil select on the Bridge PU, when the tone is on Full - Single coil - it switches from the one nearest the bridge to the one nearer tthe neck, giving a slightly fuller sound. Cheers.

Hi. The gig was really great, Cryer were brilliant and Quartz were equally as so - a very good night. As Jez said, I could here tones of the "Eight" but not quite as hear them through my rig. That said, a great sound all round and visully, very effective. The bands enjoyed it and the punters enjoyed it - Result. Some of the pics we took. More details of the night, Quartz and Cryer will be on my blog in the next few days. Cheers.
I like T-40s. If I were in the market for something a bit older (80's) It'd be a toss-up between a T-40 and an Ibanez MC924 Musician (fretted)
VERY Chalk and Cheese! I have a 924 - gigged it a couple of weeks ago - a different animal to the Forty, entirely. Get both!!
I now own a toaster and a blade, Incase anyone was wondering it is definatly worth owning both, they aren't worlds apart but theres a very noticeable difference. I can't find the words to sum it up but I love both for different reasons.
Aha!! Now you can see how I got a bit carried away!!! I found that I liked both, bought another one of each, as back up, then spotted a rare Rosewood, then a Red On, then a Black one, then a White one then. . . . . . . I'm not sure if he still has them but Kingforaday, had a lovely Ying-Yang pair - White and Black. When I eventually get over to see you, I'll bring my Blade natural - the heavy one but THE most powerful. Cheers.

Hi. We do a lot of Lizzy numbers, with only one guitarist!! I found that to keep the think rolling with a pattern, drop down to the G, once, as you roll along on the A. If you listen to the record, you will see what I mean. The other thing - when the vocals go "do you see" you can follow what the guitar does (and as the record) but in a different way to give the phrase more power. the notes are G - F# - E - D but if you do it higher up the neck - A string and roll down the first three notes and then pull the open D, which feels a bit odd, until you get used to it - it gives the whole thing a lot of power. Do the same notes lower down, on the D string and it just loses something. If you care just discovering Lizzy, some other great tracks to play are - Jailbreak, Don't believe a word, Cowboy song, Boys are back and Waitin' for an alibi. There is so much to chose from, you could do Lizzy covers all night! Cheers.

Not one of my gigs but one that sort of involves me. Cryer - Rock band from the 70's are playing at The Asylum in Birmingham, this Friday 16th December. http://www.theasylumvenue.co.uk/ A long story - details here: http://flatericbassa...-neck-bass.html My Jaydee Twin found it's way home to it's original owner, "Fez" Ferriday, who will be gigging it during the show. Anyone who likes Classic West Midlands Rock . . . . . I'm sure would enjoy the show. See you there?? Cheers.
Some really cool basses here, any chance of some pictures of the actual westone rail, the link doesn't seem to work.
Hi. Try here: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.com/2010/08/on-rails.html It's the bottom one of the pair. I will try and get some shots of it on its own. It has the original silver gig bag. Cheers, -
Have a look on facebook at stu clarke RIP, its a tribute page to Stu Clarke one of the original guitarists. There's loads of old photo's of Cryer there, some with your bass and also some of Fez with his Thunderbird which he still uses.
I had seen these before but forgot where I found them, so thanks for the tip off. 70's Rock bands, eh? - Forget about elf & safety!!! Fez with the Thunderbird you mentioned. Cheers.
What are you going to do if he asks to buy it?
Mmm, not sure, really - I'll sort of cross that bridge when I get to it. Part of me thinks it's a natural conclusion - the long lost etc, returned to the fold. Cheers.

Some of the Satellites were rough! I have one of these - lent it to my mate, a year ago and although he has access to a lot of my stuff, that's the one he plays live. Neck through, lovely Old School sound, very nice to play - not too heavy. The ony iffy things are the tuners - you would need to budget for those. Although some ome the posts say don't touch it - I would agree on some of their other stuff but if you fancy fretless and are new to it, you might be tipped over the edge by the fact there is a dot for every fret postition - only the punters can't see that!!! Cheers.

Guess you didn't click on here http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.com/2011/11/jaydee-gemini-twin-neck-bass.html and get the story so far. Well worth a look. If I remember the conversation correctly - beer was involved - the Thunderbird was a swap for a Ric, from none other than . . . . . Mr Geezer Butler, himself. I'll have to double check with Fez but from what I understand, Geezer fancied Fez's Ric and Fez fancied Geezer's Gibson - sort of "'ere, you 'ave mine and I'll 'ave yours"!!!!! Not long to go now. Cheers.
Wow I've not seen that bass for many years. Fez is an old old mate of mine and I bet he was really pleased to see that again. I've played it loads and the weight of it wasn't too bad at all, the balance was pretty good in fact. He used to play it through an old Cerwin Vega rig, 18" bottom with a 2x12 on top.The 8 string sounded massive through that. I'll be at the gig so will be looking forward to seeing it again . Jez
Jez, Hi. Yes, he was very pleased to see it again - the look on his face when I opened the case was "Priceless". Like finding a member of the family again, almost 30 years later. He just looked at it for a couple of minutes - I had to lift it out of the case and hand it to him - sort of a "Handing over ceremony". He went straight to the eight and his face lit up! I'm really looking forward to seeing Cryer at the Asylum, from what I have found out and from what Fez has told me, they used to put on one hell of a performance. Pyro's in old oil drums to make the sound louder - exploding polystyrene heads, flames - everything! Ah, those heady days of 70's rock shows. See you there. Yes, it was in Birmingham for a while and then ended up in Scotland but it is back home now!! Anyone fancy seeing Cryer, they are at The Asylum, next week, supported by Quartz. http://www.theasylumvenue.co.uk/gigs.php Cheers.
That looks a beast! Interesting that two necks have different scales. What sizes are they?
The Eight is a medium, from what I remember - Luvverly to play.
Dear God! THAT is a MANs' bass!!!!
It certainly is!!! Just over 20lbs!! But. . . . it's not as bad as it sounds. I took it to last years Bass Bash at Nottingham and with a nice soft suede strap, all who had a go were surprised how managable it was. Well balanced. Richard may by doing half the gig with it. . . . perhaps! Cheers.
