I really shouldn't watch things like this. You just get comfortable with you deterity and ablilities and then. . . . . . . I'm off for a sit on a park bench to contemplate taking up the Kazzoo!!

Hi. In reply. This is what Chip actually said. "Cutting the coil-tap red wire allows much more desirable treble overtones, so I'd not use the coil tap" Effectively, the single coil/humbucker sound that we are used to would be transformed into a "brighter" humbucker. I do like the single coil sound as well, so my "Toddification" should allow both. Chip also said that the controls confused a lot of players when they first picked u a "T". I can understand what he said but in reality, two minutes of fiddling around and it becomes clear what is going on. The only thing that a lot of owners miss, is the fact that in "Single Coil" Bridge only, the Phase switch becomes a "Coil Select", so with the switch pushed back, the coil nearer the neck becomes active and the other one is cut. Try it, you'll see what I mean. The Sweet Spot. I have a T-45 and the pick-up is in the place where most single pick-ups are - about where a Precicion would be. Can't make my mind up! I'm sort of thinking "it's a project" so why not! The weight. I posted this up ages ago. Weight! "I was thinking about this, earlier this year, when I opened up my '79 to sort out an annoying crackle, I decided to strip it down, clean it up and give it a good service. I weighed the parts on a very accurate industrial scale. The body was 2.15Kg - 4.73 lbs, neck 1.16KG - 2.55 lbs and all the remaining parts were 1.45KG - 3.19 lbs. Total 4.76KG - 10.49 lbs. When you consider that each bridge saddle weighs about one ounce and the whole bridge, assembled, is just under 1 lb, at 15 ounces, I think that's what tipped it over the edge! Does anyone know of a heavier bridge?? Having weighed some of the others, 10.5 lbs is about on the mark. Does this add to the sound? Well, all things considered, I suppose it does. What are they like to gig with? Well, our sets are about 45 to 50 minutes and it doesn't bother me, in fact after a while you get used to it and then going back to something lighter/smaller, feels a bit odd". If you pop back to the blog every now and then, I have plans for the victim, as it is a "weighty" T-40. Some are. I have and have played many other basses that are heavier. Any more questions/ideas - fire away. Cheers.

Project T-40 If anyone is interested in the Peavey T-40, you may wish to have a look here. Project T-40. TO Infinity & Beyond! I have had one of the later Blade type - natural - with a rear rosewood board, languishing in a corner for some time and thought it would make an ideal test bed for some of the things that I have thought of doing. Without going into any great detail here, it would be mainly a re-finish of some sort and various electrial mods. If you have a read, you will see why. Cheers.
There's an X610 here that might work out cheaper even after shipping and import duties.
Not quite - With VAT at 20% now, this would come in at around £830 ish. Still, both very nice and rare as the teeth of the hen!! You wouldn't turn up to an open mic, showcase or festival and see anther one being played by another band - almost certain of that! Cheers.

I just love Aria Basses of this period! You CANNOT go wrong! If there are no issues, you will not regret it. These things are WAY undervalued - buy it and you will see what I mean. Cheers. -
. . . . . and another one!! You keep this up and I might fill up the tank and head north!! Cheers.

Brilliant - Love it! Great tribute, watched it all the way through. Bass players who can sing lead. . . . . I am not worthy! Terrific. Cheers,

You don't see many of these! Electra X620 I know there are a couple of people on here who have one - I manged to find a good one, a couple of years ago but they don't very often come up. A good useable bass, with some unusual features and unusual looks. If you are after one, it may be a long time before another one turns up. You watch, now I've said that, they'll all be coming out of the woodwork!! Cheers.
Never had the amp, but those folded horn bins were deadly. You could hardly hear them on stage, but the projection was such that they nearly blew the audience through the back wall!
+1 There was one in our local practice room, around 76 or 77 and that was the same. Not much to be heard close up but I could almost swear that the soundwave caused by the little beast, used to make the doors move at the end of the hall!!! If you have kidney stones - stand about 20 foot away, with your back to the cab - 5 minutes and you'll be sorted!!

Hi. Please can someone help out? There was a topic here on BC about a series of 4 chords (think it was four) and the same ones in the same sequence were in dozens of songs, listed on the post. Can't find it anywhere. Someone point me in the right direction? Ta.

Hi. Bass guitars and Bass playing is what draws us all together, so if you like Bass Guitars, you might like this. . . . . . . . . A couple of years ago, I started a blog about my collection of mainly Basses but also Guitars and Twin Necks, which as of yesterday, has now had over 20,000 hits! In that time I have included features about instruments that I have/have had, some details about amplification and a feature on Peter Cook, the guitar builder and luthier - his most famous association was with The Who, making custom basses for The Ox and modifications for Pete. He was also "Ned Callan" as well as being "Gibson's man in the UK" The most read features on the blog were about Peter Cook, so in celebration of the 20,000 hits milestone, my latest post has links to the feature about Peter, his music and his work - in chronological order, as well as links to other features. I have met many interesting people on the journey, had some great e.mails and shared stories with owners who have of have had similar instruments. If you fancy a quick look, go here. Well, I went ahead. . . . . . The small standard one was a whisker too small and the Great Gramma was too big!! So, I bought the PlatFoam from Studio Spares, had a piece of decent ply lying around, also had some industrial matting stuff, so it was all systems go! This is the result. The total cost was £21.62 - foam/delivery/adhesive and took me about an hour to build it. Hoping it makes a vast improvement, I'll be using it live in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed - I'll let you know how I get on. Smoke and mirrors, Snake Oil or a genuine improvement. Cheers.
No way it's an '80, the model didn't make it's first catalogue appearance until '87. Hell, I own an AM100 (guitar), one of the earlist Stagemasters, the semi-sold small body type, and it's dated March '83.
Mmm, now you mention it, seems a bit odd! I would have thought it would have been later. -
Hi. Another player inducted into T-40 land! Sold to the highest bidder! Pending the usual. There will be a similar one up for grabs in about 4 weeks - a friend is buying one of my Sunbursts and I have offered to put his T-40 on here before it hits ebay, Gumtree etc. So, anyone curious about having a T-40, PM me to register your interest and I'll get some pics to you when I get it. Cheers.

Peavey T-40 1980 - Toaster pick-ups. Part of my ongoing rationalisation/sort out! This used to be always left in the rehearsal room, along with a couple of other things, so that if I had not brought anything else, I could "Plug & Go"! I now have had a Blade Sunburst covering that job for some time and nearly sold this in January, so it has been sitting around since then. Toaster, 31 years old - small crack on one of the pick-up rings, a small amount of varnish lift on the board - hardly noticable, some marks on the back of the neck, 9th fret, which look way worse than they are in reality and can hardly be felt. A sticker must have been on it at some point (not sticky now) as there is a lighter shaded circle above the bridge but again, hardly noticable. Everything works, plug it in and go! The case is the one that goes with it - never had the original case - not A1 but does the job adequately. Your first venture into T-40 land, for not a huge pile of beans. . . . .???? Looking for £295.00, with the case. Any questions, fire away. Cheers.

Hi. I am very close to getting one of these. The previous posts date back some time - everyone who bought one still happy that they did? I have booming/wolfing issues with several venues - tried different amp/set up, still does it and to make it worse the bass drum mic picks up the boom and amplifies it!!! Please can someone tip me over the edge, so I don't get the "it's the bass players fault" routine again - I really like the thought of a consistant sound without a lot of fiddling. Waits for deluge of replies. Cheers.
I recently bought a lovely Wal Mk 2 from Paul. As he is a new member of BassChat I thought it would be helpful to all if I posted here to let the good people of BassChat know that he was very straightforward, honorable and friendly in his dealings and that his bass was exactly as described. So have no fears buying/selling from Paul!
+ 1! Just as Clarky says, a really nice guy - very genuine and gave me a CD of his music to listen to. Sold my Sunburst Precision to Paul - travelled up to pay and collect, enjoyed a cup of coffe and a chat with him. Top bloke. Cheers.

Hi. As you mentioned in Gear Porn, I also have one. SB Special II I also have the other version with the single coil at the back, which can just be seen on one of these pics. White one Very similar in sound to the Laser Heritage. Laser Heritage They are really nice basses. Nice weight and balnce, lots of subtle tonal variations with the switching options and as one owner said. . . . A hoot to play. Hope you enjoy playing it. Cheers,

I keep coming back to this. . . I've got two B301 and I know of the 302 but until I saw yours, I had never seen one of these. Google image this and there are several shots but it still must be quite rare. Nice looking bass.

Bought my MIJ 75. A pleasure to deal with. All the best.
