Status Groove, scratched but well loved. . . . . That's the main thing. I've got one of these - worth double what they fetch! I would pull each string, unplugged and press down on everything. Only today, I have eliminated a buzz on on of my basses. Turned out the scratchplate was very slightly lifted, causing vibration. Solution, a piece of tissue at the point it buzzed, tightened up the screws again. . . . Result! Great bass, don't ever let it go. Cheers.

Hi. I have a '72 and my friend has a '72. Mine sounds like it has got magic in it - my friend, who gigs it almost every week and has had it from new, found his sound was getting thinner and thinner over the last four years. Turns out his neck pick-up was on its way out. He has now got a pair of Wizard 64's (he's a player and isn't bothered about keeping it original) and is over the moon with it. As posted above, might be worth getting the output checked over. Andy at Wizard offers an excellent service, repairs and replacements. Wizard Cheers.

Got some on order - may be about a week. Will let you know when I've got them. Cheers.

How was my gig last night. . . . . Brilliant. Consistantly, some of the best tiimes we have had. Not a big venue but a great crowd - all up for it and all having a good time. "The Nuns", Loughborough. Sometimes you don't need feedback from hundreds of people (thousands, if your are Pro/very well established), sometimes it all just comes together and you roll into bed (2.15) thinking. . . . this is what it is all about! Look forward to the next time - Anyone here go to the to The Three Nuns, in Loughborough??? Great rock venue. Cheers.

OK, not where I thought they were but I now think I can get my hands on some. Sit tight and I'll come back to you. Cheers.
If you post the serial number maybe it would help? Especially if someone on the site happens to have a nearby serial number and knows the age of his/her CIJ/MIJ bass????
Seems logical. Don't have the details with me but it's R and six digits, not five From memory it starts R094??? Fender Japan CIJ 57/62 Maple. Cheers.

Mornin' all. DATING LATER FENDER CIJ. Anyone got any ideas yet? I've got a 57/62 CIJ "P", that I am thinking of selling but can't date it. Where ever I look, the dating seems to stop at around 2004/2005. Look forward to a deluge of replies. Cheers.

Errrrmmmm Much as you guys are enjoying this banter. . . . it was a serious question. I did a search and this came up. . . . What are the serial number sequences for later CIJ. I know this may be in the wrong section but it's a start. Anyone who can help??/ post this in a releveant section? Cheers.
It's not the best one though. I've seen this one before and just tried it again. My MIJ 51RI which is circa 2008 is according to that site 1994. It really isn't though. It's a guide but I think the Japanese ones tend to confuse the system a bit

For Japanese instruments, this is the best one I've found and it also deals with the newer confusing MIJ numbers. HTTP://kenji-cij.blogspot.com/2009/06/fend...al-numbers.html
Anybody know how to date later CIJ basses - Less than 5 or 6 years old. Answers on a post card! Cheers.
Well in the god knows how many years I've played this bass I've never properly set it up, it was kind of an ok setup when I got it. Today I finally got the right allen keys for the job and went at it, only to discover the previous owner had stripped the heads of the first 3 height adjustment screws. Now, any ideas good BC'ers where I can buy some spares?
I may have some. Sit tight.

Anybody know anything about this model?
FlatEric replied to karlfer's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Mmm. Big Lizzy fan - about half of our set is Lizzy! Don't remember a black Jazz, with what looks like a Mexican TR plug, no position markers. Listed as Mexican. . . . . 6 string!! I think the Lizzy connection must be because. . . . . . . . It's Black!! Cheers. -
Pointy enough? Just a little bit pointy????
Another practice room camcorder job: One of our oldest & heaviest songs, nothing fancy bass-wise, but a tune and a half, in my unreliable opinion. Jon.
The man, himself - live! Like it. Aside from the track, absolutely facinated by the mic stand. . . . . how is that done? Answers on a postcard.

After much thought, I thought I would put this one up to see if anyone is interested. Not really sure which model it is - I bought it from the first owner, several years ago. High end Fender Jazz, top quality bridge with grooves to move strings, strung through the body, via huge ferrules, cast tuners, Made in Corona, USA - 99/2000 and for an eleven year old bass, it is in almost perfect condition. Satin finish neck, that is soooooo smooth. It is strung with Stadium Elites, which were fitted just before Christmas and sounds . . . . . . Like a Jazz. Really nice bass but I always seem to reach for a Peavey Foundation, lined fretless, that I have had about the same sort of time, that I just love to bits, so this and a few of the other fretlesseseseses (not easy to say, let alone spell!! ) are going to find new homes. Looking for a very fair £495.00, which includes a soft Fender bag and Shipping to most parts of the UK. Sorry about the quality of the pics - I was 'avin' a bit of trouble with the camera, at the time. If anyone has a genuine interest, I will have another go, if you wish. So, USA Fender Jazz, Made in Corona, USA, with soft bag, delivered - £495.00. Any takers?? Any questions, fire away. Cheers.

I'm in a covers band and on a good night, we would get around 15 or 20 people turn up, that we know are regulars and also some faces we have seen at other gigs, so. . Yes! I have started taking pics if the audience, so when we are looking to get another gig at the same venue, you show them the crowd! Like this. . . Works a treat. All of us also like to see other covers bands, bonus if they do a few of their own. On the flipside, I know several Originals bands, who are all very good but sometimes struggle to get a reasonable crowd and very rarely get paid. Shame, after all their time and effort. As a covers band, I always think it pays to let the punters know what you do - on posters put "Soul, Ska, Blues, Rock" or a mixture of what you do. If someone turns up looking for a night of Soul and Groove, they perhaps won't stay too long for Classic Rock! Cheers.

For what it's worth. . . . I have a Status Shark and a Groove. Both are really nice basses. The Groove is VERY nice and if it wasn't for the fact that I am trying to cure my NAS (Noah's Ark Syndrome) I would have this in a flash. Top quality, beautiful neck, balances well, nice weight, great sounds. . . I could go on and on. My Groove If you are looking for a very good bass at £STUPID for what it is, grab it please before I can't resist any longer. Nurse. . . . . My injections, please. Cheers.
I bought one of these recently and I like it a lot - the movable pickup is educational, for sure, and it gets attention. The red ones are rare, I gather. Bump for exotic weirdness L)
Yep, that one was mine. Bump for a really unusual bit of kit - I still have one and moving the pick-up makes a big difference to the tones you can get.
