1. Maybe I've look at this wrongly. Is it just the two covers you are after?
2.
You are probably familiar with the Let's Talk Guild site but just in case ... http://www.letstalkg...B-series-basses
Ahhh. Yes, from some time ago but I haven't looked there yet - will pitch in there and see what comes up. Ta. Only trouble is, being a US site, most posts/owners are in the USA. I'll give it a go. Cheers.
3. Nice Bass - Nice pics.
4. No one?? Mmm, must be like the lost chord - you know it's there but finding it is the problem. Anyone at all with and info, ping me a reply. If no joy, I will head across the pond - must be some owners over there!!
5. I am really going to have to make a trip up there!!! What a variety! Top job that man!!
6. Really nice bass, these - I have one in Sunburst. Super Ferrite pick-ups, lovely feel lots of mmmwwwaaa!! Good luck - hope it finds a good home.
7. I echo the thoughts of all so far. Always had him in the background , no matter how my musical tastes swung but it is only in the last 6 or 7 years, I have Really appreciated his contribution. Never met the guy, never seen him live but as I sit here typing this, I have a lump in my throat and a sad face. The likes of someone like him coming around again, is very, very unlikely. Top bloke.
8.
Those speed knobs look really alien on that bass.
Yes, they are not original and as I said, I suspect that bass is a special - I have never seen another like that.
Are those P90s? If so I don't think I've seen them on a bass before.
Hi. No, they are not P90's. They are Guild's own single coil pick-ups, also fitted on the B301/302which don't look much but "don't arrrff pack a punch! Anyone seen one of these/ had one/know someone who has had one. . . . anybody?? Cheers.
9. There is one bass that seems to have eluded me - and other Guild fans, I'm sure. This is it! SB 203. The one that go my interest must be a special - the two pick-up shown. They did an SB 202 but the pick-ups were middle and neck - I think the special was a 203, that was modded?? Anyone got one/played one. . . . . seen one!!!? I have a 301 and the timid looking pick-up, would surprise a lot of players - just fancied a bridge/centre combination. Power, puch and bite!! Stands back for a deluge of replies. . . . . Hopefully!
10.
I think i may be a loser here, since Pete the Axe has not posted since October ! The Arai SB's seem to be a bit different, so it appears in my searches on the net. Would you take a detailed pic of your circuit, mr Flat ?
Ok. No worries. You may have to sit tight for a while, not entirely sure where it is! I'll go a-hunting!! Cheers.
11. It is hard to believe it is that long ago. He is still a massive influence to a lot of people and the music still lives - only a few months ago, in the break at a gig - a brother and sister, maybe 18 to 20, said how much they enjoyed the Lizzy tracks we played. So, got chatting - they were massive fans and they started reeling off all the albums they had got and their favourite tracks! Very impressed! He had gone ten years before they were born and I'm a little uneasy about saying this but I really think they knew more about Phil than I did!! His music "really does" Live on!!
12. I'm sure Bloodaxe or one of the other Aria guys on here will be along soon and should sort you out. If you get really stuck, I have one. . . . . somewhere. I could get you a couple of pics. Fingers crossed, a diagram will appear.
13. Weird! I am usually pretty good at tracking down small/oddball/rare makers but this has me stumped! Looks really nice - the slotted screws make it look like an older/small volume maker - cound be a one off? I also have way too many but a few years back, I'd have haggled with you for this. I'm off to do some more digging!
14. I have a few twin necks and I would totally agree with Dom. If it is to be an on stage tool the compact headless is the way to go. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of twins and visually, I think they can be attractive and on stage can add a presence, so it depends on what you want it for. One small tip - my Peter Cook twin has the strap button behind the bottom neck. For the one you have at the moment, try loosening one of the neck screws - top one, nearest to the bridge and have a trial run with the strap under the head of the screw (carefully) and see if that balances a little better. Worth a go. Keep us posted. Cheers.
15. Top job! Just shows what can be done with a little enthusiasm and a few tools. I love the control knobs!!
16. That is a really nice looking bass! The post also shows how to present a bass for sale. Clear, well lit and in focus pictures make it even more tempting. Nice one. Have a free bump on me.
17. Having read with interest, the restoration that Norris featured on his Rebuild of the SB1000 and following Dom's headless creation, I thought I would share this feature that I have done on a Custom Reeve Headless bass. The strip-down started some time ago and I have only just recently found the time to "crack on " with it. The above pic is as it came to me. This is where I am, so far. To follow the story in date order (as it's a blog is sort of goes backwards!) click on the links bellow. If anyone knows of a Reeve instrument or may even have one, I would love to hear from you. Cheers.
18. That is really nice! There's hope for us all!!
19. Strange! Seems a real rarity! There maybe two of them? http://www.talkbass.com/threads/80s-washburn-force-30-string-length.589022/ This is all I could find.
20. Had to google Mega cone! Very interesting! We always mic, even in a small ish place, just bleed enough through to bring the thud to the front. Did this thing add a lot of volume/depth to the kick drum?
21. Nice looking bass!! Jon (Bassassin) should be along soon, he'll tell you all about it!! Cheers.
22.
Ibanez Roadster Fretless for £175 https://www.gumtree....1894/1145249576
Someone grab this quick. I have one with Tru Bass strings on it. Absolutely Luvverely! This is giving it away!!!
23.
I expect Flat Eric will be along soon - he's got two! Jon.
Here!! My oh my!! Just saying the other day - VERY rare this side of the pond. Single DiMarzio P (mine have two) and I'm sure this would be a cracking bass. Try and find another one. Still on the hunt for another like this one!
24. This has been interesting reading! Two for me. Sabbath (big fan) late 70's, just dreadful!!!!!!!! The Bonus - Van Halen were the support! They had only done a few gigs in the UK - Bar was full, Eddy struck up - Bar emptied VERY QUICKLY! What a mistake putting them on - poor old Sabbath were not in the same league. Ozzy - Hic! Bill fell of his stool. Not good. Thin Lizzy (massive fan - saw them in the 70's) when Scott was the only original member, Rock City. Just truly awful! There seemed to be a lot of people on stage, the drummer thought he was Animal, from the Muppets, The whole thing was just too busy and to make things worse a couple of "I hope you are up there and you are enjoying this Phil" What??? Really glad to get out of the place!! There, rant over.
25. Oh dear. Recently been learning Fall to pieces (we used to do Slither) and have really enjoyed listening to him sing. 48! ? Really bad news.
