*SOLD* Hello everyone, I've recently changed my pickups in my sandberg 5 string jazz bass, and I have the delano pickups that I took out of it. Is anyone interested in trading for something the same size but different sound? These pickups I believe are these: Product name: JMVC 5 FE http://www.delano.de...x_smtdelano_pi1[cat]=1&tx_smtdelano_pi1[series]=5&tx_smtdelano_pi1[strings]=6&tx_smtdelano_pi1[system]=39 Or if you want to buy them, drop me a line and make me an offer, I'm not sure how much they are worth. Any ideas? *SOLD*

Does power matter? Most of the time I use a genz benz shuttle 3 10t combo with an additional 1x10 GB cab. This little rig is so light and portable, and does sound great but you have to push it pretty hard to fill out the bottom in a function or other similar loud situation. However, I've just fixed up my SWR 4x10 and started using it again. It's a heavy old thing but it sounds so fat in a band setting. It's only getting 175w at 8 Ohms from my little genz benz head but it has much more presence than the 2 1x10s that it powers normally, which use the full 300w of power available. Something for people to think about when buying cabs, more speakers/air inside the box, potentially trumps smaller but high rated cabs.. Thoughts?

Thanks for the help guys - the copydex worked a treat, and my cab is sounding awesome again.

Hi everyone, I've noticed a problem with one of the speakers in my SWR 4x10. The dustcap is coming loose, and is buzzing a bit as a result. What should I do? The speaker is ok otherwise, just the glue has got a bit brittle and has started to break. How much chance is there of me trying to repairing it and damaging the speaker surface? If it's possible to repair on my own then what kind of glue should I use? Whoever had the cab before me has hasn't done a great job! Is there anyone is SE london that does repairs of this nature? Thanks, James

The best thing you can possibly do is to transcribe what Paul Chambers does on the original, and when you've worked out what he's got going on, why not try Ron Carter's lines on the same piece from some of the 60s Miles recordings, like My Funny Valentine/Four & More ('64 concert). You'll see all the stuff above in those basslines, but working it out from the recordings will be more beneficial because you're seeing it in the context of how they are accompanying the soloist and interacting with the rest of the band.

Fender Precision wiring help needed!
Jazzjames replied to Jazzjames's topic in Repairs and Technical
I got the job done with relative ease. The oil/paper capacitor was a snug fit in the japanese fender's cavity, and had to drill out the pick guard holes to fit the new pots. Played it on a gig last night, sounded great! -

Thanks very much. Do the different ways make a different sound? James -
Dear all, I've recently ordered a set of Bareknuckle pickups, new pots, capacitor, jack socket and cloth wire for my MIJ 'US70P' Fender Precision. I was told by the kind folk at bareknuckle that its a simple job to fit this stuff to my bass, but when I opened my bass up to have a look, it's different from any wiring diagrams I've seen. I've had a look for my actual bass' wiring diagram, but no luck. http://161589.homepagemodules.de/t29f2-Cadfaels-kleine-Schaltplan-Sammlung-fuer-passive-E-Baesse.html On the above website at the bottom of the page there is a link to loads of different wiring diagrams, none of which are the same as mine. Bearing in mind that everything is going to be replaced, which one of these diagrams is the correct way to wire up the new bits? Also, what is the metal plate attached to the circuit that sits under the pickups for? Do i need to wire this in to the new circuit? Any help much appreciated! James

Thanks for the help guys. It wasn't the string because as I said it speaks well when I pluck the string downwards. I took the pickup apart and raised one of the magnets in the E string pickup and that seems to have evened out the sound.

Hello all, I've just acquired a Japanese Fender P-Bass (70s re-issue) and I've just finished setting it up and sounds mega on the G,D,& A strings, but the E seems a little dead in comparison. I'm going for a punchy round sound and therefore have set the truss rod & bridge for a moderately high action but still easy to play. I have got the pickup heights spot on relative to the string heights but the E does not respond with the same readiness as the others. Strangely, when I pluck the E downward with my thumb, it "barks" like I want it to, with a front to the note like I want it to sound, and indeed like the other strings. I've tried to persuade the saddle of the E string to hold the string dead over the centre of the poles of the pickup, but it doesn't make much difference. I think the pickup is a vintage style US pickup (standard fit for this bass). Playing it with DR high-beams and through Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 with 2 1x10" cabs... Thanks for reading this and any help would be greatly appreciated! James

Hello, I'm selling my Shadow double bass pickup. It reproduces the sound of the bass very well, and with the active preamp on board, it has a strong signal level. Here's the manufacturer's bit: http://www.shadow-electronics.com/viewpro...._id=&id=194 It has been used lightly for a year or so, but comes to you boxed and in great condition. I'll also put in a packet of spare batteries that I have for it. (battery lasts upwards of 6 months). Open to trades of other pickups... £95 including delivery. Thanks!
