Very easy to use, selecting or removing the bass from a song makes it great for working out a bass line, and then playing along with the record also... Try the demo!

Hi There, -I recently bought one of these from Rik (ESA) on here, but decided it's not really what I'm after. -http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/sansamp/paradriverdi.html -Essentially the same as the Bassdriver, but with parametric Mid EQ, which is very useful. -In great condition, with original box and manual. -I bought for £95 including delivery so that's what I'm asking for. -I am located in SE London so pickup if preferred. Jazz bass pickup question for Fender tone gurus

Some blatantly obvious suggestions coming up, and I don't mean to offend, just trying to help: 1.) You do have the Bridge pickup doing the majority of the work right? Jazz basses sound great with both pickups on full, but if you want that growl you need to bias the pickup selectors to the bridge pickup. (obviously)! 2.) What amp are you using? Some amps that I have used don't have a large dynamic range that accommodate the large dynamics of a Jazz bass. Some amps I have used sounds cool for Precision basses, but I can't find a good tone for Jazzes, so that may be a factor. 3.) As far as strings go, I would say DR Hi Beams, or Sunbeams. I personally have Hi Beams on my bass, and didn't find the Sunbeams worked particularly well with mine, but nickel is supposed to be more magnetic and therefore make the bass sound more responsive. (I have a set of the afore-mentioned Fat Beams on the way to try). Rotosounds - Cheap and nasty in my opinion, but give them a go if the DRs aren't your thing. 4.) Are you plucking the strings by the bridge? I hope something in there is helpful. I know it's obvious stuff but thought it may be of some use... James -

But stuff that's supposed to look old and battered, but is just some run of the mill factory Fender- not cool. The fact that you've gone out of your way to try and imitate something else, seriously uncool. To me anyway! Coolness is about not trying too hard, and taking a sander to a bass, that's effort! But yes all of this is irrelevant really, because it's what you sound like, not what you look like that counts! Peace.

Is there such a string that could do this.[/quote] On John Patitucci's new album on the last track which is dedicated to the late Michael Brecker, he uses what he calls 6-string piccolo bass, which I guess is one of his Yamaha 6 string basses tunes a 4th up - E A D G C F, which sounds pretty cool. I play a 5 string E - C, but I always remember that people like Jaco sound burning and they've only got 4 strings and 20 odd frets! It's all about what you've got going on in your head!

[/quote] IMHO: The only reason old beat up instruments look cool in that condition is because they've got a stories to tell about how the dents, scratches and worn out bits got to how they are! To get a newish bass that's in alright condition and to tow it behind your car for a bit to make it look like its 20 years older is pretty lame tbh. I had for a while a '77 Jazz bass, which was nice, but sold it on in favour of my Sandberg Jazz bass 5 string (which I didn't get reliced by Sandberg in the factory). I'd rather start with something new and as the years go on the bass ages and changes with me, rather than having it F'd up for me at extra cost! Come on people see sense!

Hi, I have a Sandberg California 5 string Jazz which I'm very happy with. I knew I wanted a Jazz bass, so I tried Fenders, Laklands, Sadowskys, and a few of the other usual suspects for making Jazz basses and I couldn't find one that suited me better than the Sandberg. Fenders are great, but their 5 strings aren't up to scratch in my opinion. The Lakland felt good but didn't sound like a Jazz bass should to me, and the Sadowskys' necks were all a bit too wide for my taste. And more importantly the Sandbergs are considerably better priced for what they come with compared to this crowd. Try one yourself and see what you think I love mine but everyone looks for different things...

I bought this last summer from Bass Direct, and have used this speaker as an extension speaker with my SWR combo, but I rarely need the extra volume, so I have decided to sell it. It's a great sounding speaker, very full yet transparent. It stands upright like a normal cab, but it's tilt back position is very useful for hearing yourself on a cramped stage. It's pretty light too! It's in immaculate condition, only a bit of fluff on the outside carpet... I'm looking for £250 ono. I am located in london so can meet to exchange or post at additional cost.
