Sire get a lot of love and cheaper than your budget.

Hard on the fingers, eqt frets and die quickly but for those brief moments the Roto steels sound better than anything else out there for me.

I shall be going to see if my local shop has these in stock. Is it fair to say they are effectively the replacement for the American Special basses?
-
If this is the new American Special I'll be having a close look.

(READ IF YOU HAVE A) Fender '61 Flea Bass (Woes)

If they did offer you a replacement neck I'm sure you'd have no end of offers on here for it. -
For sale is my well used Protec Contego gig bag. Most people will know how good these bags are, this has been my main gig bag for about 4 years and has proven to be an utterly trustworthy bag for that time. Couple of issues; The stitching on the back has come loose on one of the corners, the stitching on parts of the shoulder straps has also come loose, the velcro to hold the neck inside the bag has also come loose. It seems entirely possible that someone could resolve the issues and have years more use from the bag, sadly I'm not this handy! As such, for someone could be a bargain at a quarter of the regular price. No other issues to report, all zips and segments/pockets in perfect working order. Happy to post at buyers expense but collection preferred.

I've had my eye on one of these, I saw somewhere they were a slimmer nut width, around 39mm- is that right?

New Fender MIM Player series replaces Standard

Nothing remarkably different about the weight no. -
Lozz, I'd be interested in the jazz neck if you we're to move it on!

No issues that I could detect. I checked the frets for sharp edges and the nut for how it was cut after reading the reddit post but no issues to report. -
New Fender MIM Player series replaces Standard

Tried these out today and managed to compare the Jazz with the Mexican standard. All were nicely finished and the new pickups did sound nicer to my ears. Satin finish on the neck did feel somewhat different though. -
Thanks for the replies, I've joined up to JMB and I've added a couple of ads in the nearest counties. A load of views and no responses seems to be the way thus far. Off to some kind of musicians mixer tonight to find band members, hopefully no keys in bowls!!

I have all this to look forward to, we're after a new drummer.. Any suggestions on places to look beyond gumtree?

Did they still have the 2024x at the hugely discounted rate? That's the bass that makes my heart flutter!

Mwahahaha, my evil genius knows no bounds!! That said, I haven't even looked at another bass amp since getting it, some 2 years ago. They really do tick a hell of a lot of boxes and I tried basically everything going before committing.

You can go through my rm500 in Brighton Lozz and that should make up your mind! 😉

I've now got one of these! I was feeling uninspired by my old bass recently so made the decision to move it on. I was unsure what to go for as a replacement but after finding a good deal second hand for one of these decided to give it a go. After meeting up with the fella selling I was pretty impressed with the quality of the instrument. Acoustically, it sounds huge so when I plugged it in it obviously sounded even better. I've been tinkering at home with it and have been delighted with the playability and overall quality of the bass. People have reported super low weights of the basses but this is one of the heavier ones at 9.2lbs but I prefer a little weight to my basses anyway. Despite this, I still had to see how it fit with the band to know whether it was a keeper or not. Fast forward to yesterday when I met up with the band for songwriting and a gig in the evening. After a short period of adjustment the bass sounded fantastic. It cuts through the mix perfectly but feels full enough to fill out the songs too. I'm still experimenting with pickup levels but currently favouring neck pickup on full and bridge pickup 2/3rds on with the tone rolled off slightly. Seems to give a sort of precisionesque tone but brighter. The thing I'm particularly enjoying is just how easy this bass is to play. It makes playing seem so much easier. The guy selling told me he had the bass setup at The Gallery in London so would definitely recommend heading there for anyone in the local area. Thats all really, just wanted to share my delight at finding a great bass!
