  1. Probably not a help but reaper is super easy to sync audio and video togeather (yes it does video editing as well), a lot less complicated than resolve (IMO). I do it with up to 5 cameras to one desk audio source at gigs all the time, its not complicated.
  2. I very nearly thought about getting one, the ad is clever. Then I thought as others have said its too good to be true, dodged a bullet there.
  3. That was a great description of gigs, perfect! We have a gig tonight in a fairly (for here) rough pub, lots of serious drunks but they have actually built a small stage for bands. It makes a real difference that they can't actually fall on your gear anymore ( happened a few times in the past at this place). Any pub that holds bands should have a small stage IMO, its not that difficult. They even have tables and chairs on it when there's no bands, so its not like they're loosing space.
  4. Is it any good for metal?
  5. Was expecting a dead pub tonight but was pleasantly surprised how busy it was. Some people actually caught the train to come and see us from the next town We havent played for a few weeks so again I wasn't expecting much but we played pretty well considering. Landlord and I swapped numbers for more gigs after March. I'll be asking for a little more in the fee. Still not sure I'm enjoying flats on my Jazz. They're heavy gauge as well so my hands are aching after a 2 hour gig, may have to go back to Elixr nanowebs.. No backline, bass to pedalboard (Laney Digbeth preamp) then to desk, in ear monitor and Porter and Davies KT Platform. Passed some guy half asleep in a hedge down a country road on the way home. Felt sorry for him and turned around but when I slowed down he suddenly sprang to life and tried to get in the back of the car without saying anything. Freaked me out so I took off. Called the police when I got home, hopefully they will find him and get him home but it felt sketchy at the time. Home for cheese and toast and a glass of vino, 1.20am.
  6. when you have dozens of leads at 1am in a pub and you just want to get home, thats exactly how I do them, loosely..stops them getting tangled up in the leads boxes as well.
  7. We muddled along for 10 years as a three piece with our guitarist as lead vocals. He'd be the first to admit that his voice was pretty much just ok. Then out of the blue we found ourselves with a fantastic female rock vocalist. The band (IMO) was completely transformed and stepped up several gears. Luckily we kept pretty much the same style (Zep, Free, Bad Company etc) and she carries it off great. Now 15 years togeather (5 with her) I can't imagine going backwards without a great frontman/woman. Vocalists can be a bit fragile and sometimes need to be handled with care, like others have said I think you need a different mindset to be out front in the limelight. But bands live or die by their vocalist and I'd rather bend to their needs (within reason) than loose them.
  8. Isnt that what also happens in the jeff beck/Beth hart version of Id rather go blind as well? Thats the version we do (again with me doing keys with my foot)
  9. Riviera Paradise by Steveie Ray Vaughn. The Bass part is dead easy but Im also playing keys (Hammond B3) with my feet. Using a midi footswitch, ipad mini and free programme called Dreamfoot as well as garageband. Also learning Since I've been loving You by Led Zep with organ parts supplied by EHX C9 pedal. Hopefully ready for next gig in a weeks time!
  10. and it goes to 12!
  11. I really must get round to listening to something after moving pictures.
  12. No I dont think so.
  13. Not sure how practical this will be in the band although there's at least 2 covers I can think of where I might use it
  14. our guitarist uses one into his fender and he loves it.
  15. ive had guitars sent and delivered by courier through the buy and sell forum on here, always been ok although I understand you might feel a little nervous going down that route.
  16. my cali 76 knock off sounds fantastic, as to it being anything like the real deal, no idea!
  17. TBH that fernandes does look nice..
  18. 16 year hiatus! Is this a record?
  19. All good recommendations. For me it would be a used Jap Fender if you could find one in that price bracket.
  20. Thats how I recruited my band memebers from a note in a music shop, 15 years ago and still going!
  21. Hi Phil Mansons has gone but its still a guitar shop, now specialising in rather good second hand gear. https://lifeguitars.co.uk/blogs/news/a-new-era-life-guitars-mansons
  22. Went into a cracking guitar shop in Ashburton, Devon yesterday and tried out a lovely overwater bass. They also had some rather nice Ukranian basses by the name of Woodstock that I'd not heard of before. Anyway TBH i had no intention of buying one but just fancied a go on something. The staff were great, very friendly. Anyhow I felt a bit guilty so ended up buying a couple of picks ( I know, miserly or what). Does anyone else feel a bit obliged to at least purchase something after trying a bass or guitar out? To be fair I've done that before in what was Mansons and ended up walking out with an Ampeg tube head!
  23. Got an email from Lemonrock last night saying 2 gigs at a well known music pub in Plymouth had been cancelled, no explanation given. Contacted the venue and they were as surprised as I was. Asked to speak to the manager who does the bookings and was informed she had left. "under a dark cloud?" I enquired. "Possibly..." came the reply. Have now also discovered no gigs for 2024 are listed on the venues Lemonrock page. They have dozens of bands over the year 2 or 3 times a week. Pub has told everyone on FB that all gigs for 2024 will need to be reconfirmed (sounds like the bookings book has left with the ex manager) Just out of interest, could this be seen as possible vandalism of a venues business by a disgruntled former employee? Dont know the full circumstances of course but its very strange...
  24. ok just reapplied for a new quote and got it for £59
