1. Damn!!!!.................
2. looking at that lot, I think "that" sound is going to stay firmly in your head only!
3. Its not what you put in...........
4. signed, does this relate to the Bristol venue?
5. Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't empt me!! of cash, or tempt me, damn keyboard...
6. ha I am, but i've survived one round with the wife, don't fancy going another! Unless you fancy a 411 warwick swap?
7.
Lemonrock
this. www.lemonrock.com but it's £30 a year but good for finding venues to play also. We use it and its paid for itself dozens of time over every year.
8. So...had a go at rehearsal tonight, I won't say any more until I've gigged it but a couple of early thoughts. Firstly, it's unbelievably powerful, I didn't go above 3 on gain and 2 on master (compared with halfway on gain and master on my 700W solid state SWR) I ran it through my pedalboard which apart from a Boss TU3 tuner is a Dave Hall Amp VT2-EQ tube pre-amp pedal and a Tube Markbass Compressore, so there's a lot of tubes going around! It's hard to describe the difference with a solid state amp but my initial impression is a thickness or a richness that isn't present in the SWR, and an almost effortless output that didn't feel like it broke a sweat. As I said it's hard to describe but it felt like it was saying " come and have a go if you think you're hard enough", I felt a bit intimidated!
9. ha not vaseline, knackered phone camera, will try it out at tonights rehersal, will let you know what I think!
10. A compressor will do just what you need, evens the volume out, prevents spikes.
11. It's Here! Managed to sweet Talk Mrs Skidders with promises of untold gig riches from the new sweet tone and a somewhat exagerated value placed upon the possible imminent sale of a used SWR..happy days!
12. Im thinking of "I bought it as an investment" angle....
13. yep, hotter than a hot thing on a tin roof on the surface of the sun. What a kn*b.
14. THELMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
15.
Sort of reminds me of a design I have had in my head for a couple of years. The plan is to take an existing cab and clad it with rough looking boards and add vertical bars in place of a grill, to make the whole thing look like an old animal crate.
keep it in your head...please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
16. If neolithic man made cabs... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hand-Made-Guitar-Amp-Cab-For-Bass-Electric-Unique-/161304312648?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Valves_Vacuum_Tubes&hash=item258e7c7b48
17. unlikely to push it too hard down the dog and duck TBH...
18. Will ask those nice chaps at Mansons to check the valves, I believe these have 2 biasing switches on the back with LEDs but if i needed a full set I probably would pull out of the deal (but I don't think this will happen!) My biggest worry is my 8ohm 410, will probably add another 210 at 8 Ohm rather than hunting down another 410 at 4 ohm.
19. yeah getting a bit nervous about the weight! I weighed my SWR and flightcase, thinking it would be similar, it isn't. SWR and flightcase only 50lbs, SVT head 80lbs. However as Im the poor sod with the majority of the PA as well, ( active subs, passive tops but no more wedge monitors thank god) and a sack carrier is mandatory, Im hoping I'll get away with it. The Warwick 411 is so heavy it's now on castors. Seem to be going in a completely opposite direction weight wise to the majority of people on bass chat! But.....always , always wanted a 300 Watt Tube monster.. and you only live once...
20.
Did you read the small print on the Mansons website that says that ex-demo SVT comes without any valves?
ha ha very good, I did look round the back to check!!
21. I vaguely remember a bass player wanted ad on here recently that specifically required an SVT and 810 for "quick get ins and outs" and no "pussy modern micro heads" reckon Im in with a shout now...
22.
anyone else wondering what of this will end up in the for sale forum under wife pressure?
lol, well apparently I shouldn't run an 8 ohm cab with it, so now I have to sell the 8 ohm warwick 411 and get a 4ohm cab or another 8 ohm (just sold an 8 ohm 115)
23. oh F**k, just pulled the online trigger thanks to you lot! 0% finance over 9 months mind......not even drunk yet!!!
