1. Im guessing the titans are passive right? We used active subs so as not to give us problems with resistance loads from one power amp feeding both tops and subs, also would there be any crossover issues going passive? You can see im a bit of a newb where PA stuff is concerned
2. We were using a couple of Peavey active subs but have no end of problems with them dying on us several times. We have decided to go with a single active sub second- hand around the £500/600 mark, does anyone have some experience with this sort of setup - 24 channel desk - poweramp 1000W - passive tops x 2 and active sub? Any makes for subs recommended would be appreciated! cheers
3.
Running a business is irrelevant - my neighbour would have paid a gardener or builder though if I didn't help him out, so someone lost out financially because of my willingness to do the work for free. Did I do a bad thing?
If your neighbour could afford to pay someone, then I would say you did do a bad thing.
4. 0 feedback and hardly any description, watch this baby fly out the "shop"!
5. sounds like a crock of sh*te, walk away.
6. take a small towel onstage with you warm up (silently!) ten minutes before start time with some runs, scales or the trickiest bits of your set, then tune up deffo have a pee before starting make sure you can see your setlist (it's dark up there!) be careful where you put any (preferably non alcoholic) drinks, they will fall over one day onto your pedalboard. Dont be nervous (its a team effort and not you on your own) Just concentrate on being as tight as you can with the drummer, find and lock into the groove, leave any fancy stuff to the guitarist and singer. Don't make it too obvious when you start ogling the girls (or boys) - then you will make mistakes! Enjoy, you're being paid to make people happy, how great a job is that?!!
7. very very sad news, Passion, Grace and Fire was (and still is ) one of of my favourite albums. RIP Paco
8. i use the markass compressore, very nice but big! http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/markbass.shtml
9. Volume full all the way, to get louder if necessary I roll off a tiny bit on one of the pickup pots and that seems to increase the volume a bit, to go quieter, compressor off and play more gently.
10. got a link?
11. Not being a fan of pre distressed stuff, Id say go for the pup upgrade (cheaper too!)
12. PM,d you Jon thanks for all the great advice. Im away for a couple of weeks but will deffo ask here for any for sale before trawling through fleabay. Just like buying basses, get em here first, cheaper and better! Thanks Basschat!
13.
Fancy a project? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item338a40121b
saw that, just up the road too....interesting!
14. those are a bit legendary aren't they? i've seen a few but they go for a fair bit more than £130!
15. HI Folks so i really fancy getting a turntable again! Like a muppet I sold my Rega P3 a few years ago for about £150 quid on ebay and have regretted it ever since. Unfortunately my budget is a round £130 what with Christmas and everything. Does anyone have experience of a turntable at around that budget used price? I really fancy a Pioneer PL-12D, anyone got one? Or any other model for that kind of price? Cheers, Steve
16. we were given one, had it tuned and repaired for £25, its stayed in tune (to my one ear!) so bargains (if not even free) are out there!
17.
Interesting stuff, we are also going through them at a fair rate. Bit woried one day a punter will get a 15 inch speaker through their skull. Especially as however big the dancefloor they always seem to be drawn to standing right next to the speakers and tripping on the legs of the stands.
Which is Another Reason to use Subs with poles for the Tops!
18. Hi Marc give this a go http://www.lemonrock.com/smalladsection.php?catId=20&typeId=2
19. Tracktion 4 for me , all the way........ http://www.tracktion.com/
20. bump time, c,mon guys, anything out there you fancy a trade with? Open to offers!!!
21. looks great, but surely 100 W isn't really enough to keep clean at loud volumes is it? Isn't that why STV,s and VBA,s are 300-400W? As never having owned a monster tube amp this is purely speculative!
22. ha ha what a complete tw*t!
23.
One of our guitarists used to change guitars constantly, in the end we put a stop to it as it took too long and looked so unprofessional.
soooooooooooo this!
24. you've heard the old tosh we churn out Phil, you only need one bass for rock mate, guitards now using a Les Paul as well as the strat and it drives me nuts with the swap overs, we've told him to do it as little as possible and let us (me and drummer) start some intros while he does, but what with his reluctance for a set list ( a whole other thread!) its all becoming a real issue with the tumbleweed blowing between numbers ( I have no stage front craft)
