If you play in bands looking to "make it" (whatever that means) and use promoters, I think the sentiments in that excellent full article ring very true. However, if you play in a dodgy pub covers band (like me!) and play not for vanity or advancement but for the sheer visceral pleasure of making loud music and a couple of quid with maybe an added benefit of giving people some pleasure then im not so sure.

ah man thats lovely! I got new electrics (PIO's) from KiOgon as well and what a difference to the sound, that was really unexpected! Much deeper, less treble, more growl and much smoother volume and treble control. If you ever want to sell that baby, Im first in line!

i have the PF 500 and im really happy with it. Would the micro head be loud enough for gigging? Depending on what you want to do of course!

have a look at PEARL pedals from the 80's, totally analogue. I have the phaser and its fantastic. They're becoming quite collectable but you can still pick em up on ebay for about 60 squid

I have the markbass compressore, very good (and the valve looks cool!) but pricey and a little on the large size.

Hey Guys John (KiOgon) just sorted me a fab new wiring kit for my JV 51 reissue, trouble is the old knobs wont fit on the new poles. Thats fine cos i didnt like them. Anyione know the best place to source genuine fender knobs at a decent price? thanks steve

John sent me a PIO wiring kit for my JV jazz/Precision and it sounds fantastic, really made a difference to the sound, brilliant build quality and cheap. Fantastic bloke to deal with, really helpful and quick, can't recommend enough!

KiOgon is your man for wiring kits. You can find him here somewhere Recommend the SD quarter pounders, I've got em in my JV P/J and they sound the business through my Ampeg and 4 x 10 & 1x15

I fully sympathise with what happened. Ebay can be a minefield for both buyers and sellers. I've done dozen of deals both ways and the only issues i've ever had have been with guitars/effects etc..However to have won an auction and then been screw*d over with regard to buying a used amp is unusual regardless of offering courier pickup or otherwise. My gut feeling is that the seller wasn't fully commited to the ethos of ebay (probably not happy with the final winning bid) and had made up spurious excuses to pull out. If you have the opportuninity to leave negative feedback, for what little it's worth, leave negative feedback and look again. PS disregard the maiden aunts banging on about the "language", i would like to think we're all adults here!

get a decent cab if you dont already have one, barefaced super 12 should give you the thump and bottom end, see the reviews on the forum

ACS 17's in these ears for rehersals, nothing for gigging as they seem to muffle the "excitement" of gigs...if that makes sense?

i used to have one and once or twice used it for its Eq into a 800w power amp. As i recall , line out to the power amp, so i guess it should be fine to use it into a small practice amp. Obviously DONT go from either of the 2 main outputs into anything other than an 8ohm or 4ohm cab!

just sold an SB 600 (without trem!) on ebay for £250. dunno if that was a good price or not to be honest?
