1.
So he wore that abomination to avoid tuning his bass? lazy twat.
2. Got a nice BYOC analogue for £70 if you're interested Pm me!
3.
sex on fire is a good one to learn and play............................
As you may be aware, it's actually against the law Not to play this at weddings, so "essential" rather than mere "fun"....
4. dunno much about em but it looks great and a steal at 300squid mate!
5. Hey Scott thats absoloutely brilliant! Many thanks, gonna start learning all my modes tonight!
6. have you tried lemonrock? found my band members here http://www.lemonrock.com/ads.php
7. ha ha nice one! I was looking at that on songsterr and thinking that looks easy, whats the big deal? Then i clocked the guitar solo near the end! Well Done!
8.
You need a Zoom Q3 or similar device: http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/q3hd
yep +1 for the zoom
9.
Well I knackered my 19" alloys on the chuffin narrow roads and granite kerbs and believe it or not there was no parking outside the cottage either!(irony) Some of the main A roads were only 1 lane wide too! Also no TV so all in all whilst it was a lovely place and cottage I'm glad to be out of it. Unfortunately the MIL is in the early stages of dementia so it's a bit difficult here too, off up to London on the 30th for a few days with the kids.....
ah sorry to hear that mate! 19" alloys not a great idea, unless its on a range rover sport, lots of them in chagford! Yeah TV receptions a joke on the moor, you see everyone has freesat now.
10. happens with my P/J, slight volume drop when both pups on full, think its pretty common...dunno why...
11.
Actually Chagford did not work out and am back in Salisbury at the moment, and maybe going to London for NY
id thank your lucky stars if i were you!
12. its been on and off in our set for a couple of years now and to be honest it changes (for me!) every outing. Obviously theres the "crux" of it (E,A,B, walking basslines) that is kinda written in stone and if you can learn the turnaround as accurately as poss that would be good, but the "funky" solo type thing ie.."squeezing of ehrrmm,,lemons" is sort of just crying out for interpretation. Im sure JPJ would have played it differently every night!
13. Musicians Union contracts anygood? Worth the bother? Implementable for a pub anyway? Anyone got em?
14. Nice review, I have the PF-500, pretty pleased with it, but deffo glad of the DHA VT-2 for the valve pre-amp. Always fancied the SVT classic but cost/weight put me off.
15. soooooooooooooo jealous. Its top of my list for 2012, just gotta sell loads of sh*T ON EBAY
16.
This is true.... to the point where you wonder why we need a website..!! If they can't be boithered to click on the links for a mp3..then what chance actually playing the CD..!! I normally send out something to establish contact then follow it up with a call...and always pick a reasonable time which is less likely to be busy if talking about pubs.
Thats bang on the money. I ALWAYS call about 11am, just before the pub is opening, the landlord/booker is usually there (alone and not able to fob you off with another muppet taking the call!) and usually having a cup of tea and available to talk for 2 precious minutes! He MIGHT even have his diary within reach!
17.
No, I put in Mullard M8136 which is a rare military version of the ECC81 / 12AT7 which has a gain of about 60-70% of a ECC83. I like the lower gain, non overdrive, but very warm sound a Mullard gives. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2NOS-Mullard-M8162-S...s-/230486276363 Check out Watford vales for gain advice..... http://www.watfordvalves.com/products.asp?...man=&page=2
wow those M8136's are £50 a pop at Watford valves!
18. happens round here a bit as well (west country). If they offer us 4 gigs a year then we won't, out of courtesy, play in nearby pubs in that town, but if its just the one gig then i think its ok to look for as many gigs in as many pubs in the area!
19. Agreed. The most frustrating thing about being in a band IMO. Most Pubs still want Demo CDs! I dont think they've heard of the internet/facebook/youtube thingy. Drives me nuts...
20. gigging lots with my squire 82 JV P/J with Quarter pounders. By far the most comfotable bass ive owned with tons of grunt. Dont think i will bother with silly money basses as it gets thrown around a lot, but does whats it's designed for..making music= making money!
21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KS-BtFA_CY here you go! Equinox micro bar, used it for 2 years now, so far no probs, not much cop in broad daylight at a festival but great for bars, clubs etc with a haze machine. We paid £399 with carry case, 2 x 4 led bars, 2 x stands. cables and programmable footswitch (my job!). Cant recommend it highly enough
22. ive got the same problem (sort of) running my PF 500 into a mostrously heavy 4 x 10 on castors (great except for stairs!) and a 1 x 15. Im planning on dumping the lot in the new year and going down the barefaced super 12 route.
23. quite possibly and if not at least it'll probabaly sound 10x better! (ive got quarter pounder P's and a Jazz pup in my P/J)
24. quite possibly and if not at least it'll probabaly sound 10x better! (ive got quarter pounder P's and a Jazz pup in my P/J)
25. yep vst's wont work on the mac im afraid, unless they're RTAS (which technically arent vst's!). Im guessing your reaper is the mac version right? if you dont already know this www.kvraudio.com has loads of free plugins for reaper
