  1. the holy grail of compressors..
  2. wow my hearing really is bad, sounded fine to me!
  3. Id go for a digital piano if you just after some quality piano and hammond organ sounds. Far less mucking about I had the M audio one and it also doubled up as a midi controller if i wanted to use vst synths https://www.promenademusic.co.uk/m-audio-hammer-88 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334352897685?hash=item4dd8fc5695:g:-fcAAOSwOPxiIzNc
  4. The only time I got truly nervous was out my very first gig many years ago. We were a terrible band, unrehearsed with the most ropy setlist ever. Our first "number" was a jam where one of us yelled out the chords, a dreadful din. However I looked up and saw the dance floor was packed with drunk punters shaking their thing. That was it for nerves and me, if they like this sh1te just imagine if we were actually any good? Now I don't really get any nerves, just a little buzz if its a good venue. I look at it as a team sport, all the others occasionally make mistakes, me included. Nobody died, just laugh it off.
  5. never go into a gig with any expectations, that way you will never be disappointed.
  6. Watched 5 minutes, toe curling manufactured tosh. Like others have said, any half competent musician could knock that old cliche alright now out in 2 minutes. saying that, playing it well and singing it with any resemblance to the original takes years of dedication made for Joe public which is fair enough
  7. seriously?....
  8. Done 3 gigs with it so far this year, it's really good, very versatile and the FET/tube blend is brill as is the tilt knob if you need to add a little "heft" halfway through a song.
  9. recorded Friday through the new zoom desk. So easy to use, no effects or mastering. video edited in reaper with 3 cheapy go pro type cameras. Turned out ok for a quick facebook vid I think?

  10. For me gigging is the whole reason I play bass. If I gave up gigging I’d drop the bass like a hot potato and play guitar!
  11. yes i have all that as well as I carry the PA, but for personal use very little as I don't (like you i imagine) have the luxury of time to play with all the toys.
  12. for me personally and not including the PA 1 bass 1 combo amp pedal board including DI, tuner, comp and phaser set of spare strings (again never broken one)
  13. Very good, loud and accurate to what’s played back, neutral. Don’t have an opinion on the effects as we haven’t used them yet
  14. We got this last week. Recorded our gig on Saturday. We used up 14 of the channels, all recorded as separate stems onto an SD card onboard the desk A 2 hour gig took up about 8Gb of space. I loaded all the stems onto Reaper, dead easy. This is without any plugins. The only changes I made was to turn down the bass and up the guitar so it's not perfect but I'm pleased with just how easy this was to do. The preamps are really loud worth £800 easy.
  15. Our lot down the Ostler Inn, Uffculme in deepest darkest Someset last Saturday. Recorded direct onto our new Zoom L20, no tweaking. 14 lurverly seperate stems straight onto an SD Card
  16. I'd look into RCF at that price point.
  17. f*ekin' awful! God, Percy had such an amazing voice back in the day.
  18. Streaming/CD's/MP3's - quick cup of Tetley's Vinyl - Japanese Tea Ceremony!
  19. Turntable is the correct term I believe. 😄 I go to Discogs to buy used vinyl. Much cheaper. New stuff is silly money but I suppose it costs a packet to make compared to a download or a CD. There's something about getting up and going through all your collection before choosing it and putting it on, sitting down with a glass of vino and a mate and listening.
  20. Not to me. It just means being heard as well as felt. For me its usually a case of adjusting the low mids. I actually have my higher frequencies right down and utilise the mids section of the EQ to "cut through". The guitarist hogs a lot of low end, especially on his Les Paul and a lot of the mid/highs on his strat. The drummer gets his lows with his kick and toms and his highs with snare and rides. I get squeezed in the mids so that's where I find my space. I make it sound basic but there's a lot of wriggle room in there. The acoustics of each venue make a huge difference to where those boundaries are.
  21. PM me, I can probably help and you can even use that steve smith Jazz you sold me.
  22. Yeah, I'd hate it if Geddy's bass lines cut through and I had to hear them. Seriously though , I have to disagree. I love it when the bass cuts through, not overpowering but clearly audible. So many sweet lines to inspire.
  23. Geezer Butler looked most put out..
  24. wow, a helluva story. That sounded a huge b@llache, a great lesson for all of us, thanks.
  25. who's on bass? Sounds like slapping in '75, obviously not from the UK.
