  1. f*ekin' awful! God, Percy had such an amazing voice back in the day.
  2. Streaming/CD's/MP3's - quick cup of Tetley's Vinyl - Japanese Tea Ceremony!
  3. Turntable is the correct term I believe. 😄 I go to Discogs to buy used vinyl. Much cheaper. New stuff is silly money but I suppose it costs a packet to make compared to a download or a CD. There's something about getting up and going through all your collection before choosing it and putting it on, sitting down with a glass of vino and a mate and listening.
  4. Not to me. It just means being heard as well as felt. For me its usually a case of adjusting the low mids. I actually have my higher frequencies right down and utilise the mids section of the EQ to "cut through". The guitarist hogs a lot of low end, especially on his Les Paul and a lot of the mid/highs on his strat. The drummer gets his lows with his kick and toms and his highs with snare and rides. I get squeezed in the mids so that's where I find my space. I make it sound basic but there's a lot of wriggle room in there. The acoustics of each venue make a huge difference to where those boundaries are.
  5. PM me, I can probably help and you can even use that steve smith Jazz you sold me.
  6. Yeah, I'd hate it if Geddy's bass lines cut through and I had to hear them. Seriously though , I have to disagree. I love it when the bass cuts through, not overpowering but clearly audible. So many sweet lines to inspire.
  7. Geezer Butler looked most put out..
  8. wow, a helluva story. That sounded a huge b@llache, a great lesson for all of us, thanks.
  9. who's on bass? Sounds like slapping in '75, obviously not from the UK.
  10. ah ok sorry, not like my jam night down the dog n duck!
  11. Organising a Jam Night? So any money changing hands? The venue makes money by dint of musicians giving their services free of charge and then expects you to pay their PRS liabilty? Nice.......
  12. This apparently Tilt is a dynamic, powerful SEE SAW EQ control. This control has a central neutral position. Turning the control clockwise increases the overall mid to high frequencies and decreases the lows thereby giving your sound more presence, which can be useful for cutting through live band situations. Turning the control anti clockwise reduces the overall mid to high frequencies and increases the lows making your overall sound rounder. I turned it a little more to the mid lows, just a smidge, gave me a nicer smoother low end, not too much though.
  13. Just got back, sounded F@ckin' brilliant, The Mosfet input is especially nice and The Tube breaks up lovely. That tilt function is very useful. Very happy and it's silent when not in use as well.
  14. I use a digitec JamMan stereo looper pedal to trigger backing tracks (just a few keyboards and organs in certain keys). It has a SD card slot and I recorded some stuff onto that. Playing bass and changing loops mid song is always..erhm interesting.
  15. £125 at GAK https://www.gak.co.uk/en/laney-db-pre-digbeth-bass-preamp-pedal
  16. Hmmmm I use RCF ART 315's as floor monitors and they have occasionally farted out so IMO go as high end as you can afford.
  17. This bad boy dropped on the doormat today. Will give it a whirl at tomorrows rehearsal.
  18. I have the 12" combo with horn and its cray loud and punchy. I don't even bother taking out my full fat SVT and 410. You will be using this for years, its a great rig, good choice.
  19. I've just ordered the Laney Digbeth DB Pre to replace my DHA VT-2. It's £125 at GAK, has a mosfet and Tube channel, XLR out so Im hoping its as good as it looks. https://www.laney.co.uk/amps/bass/digbeth/db-pre
  20. I live in Teignmouth, Devon Nobody famous apart from Muse
  21. I have a full fat SVT and a 410 HLF, sounds amazing but heavy as hell. I also have RCF 15" active floor wedges, good as well. But I've really been impressed by my Markbass combo. It's incredibly punchy and loud and light. I use a tube preamp pedal to add a little dirt but so far it's been great. http://www.markbass.it/product-detail/cmd-121h/
