  1. I'll often play DI to PA if the venues space is small, It's loads less hassle and usually sounds ok with decent monitoring, BTW I use a Dave Hall Tube DI
  2. Thank you all for your input! I've discovered that the velocity touch works very well with all the virtual pianos and synths, it was just the Hammond organ that didn't respond to any touch sensitivity, probably as per an original Hammond! So far it all works rather well and I've saved myself the hassle of selling it and buying the appropriate midi keyboard/controller. The keys on this A90 are a joy to play and as I'm planning on leaving it where it is rather than gigging it the weight is not a problem. The lesson I've learned is to get yourself an older quality keyboard and utilize its midi capabilities with a modern(ish) midi to usb cable and it works just fine
  3. define....
  4. Thanks, have you seen how complicated that all looks at first glance?! Think I'll stick to midi out into usb and garageband!
  5. possibly yes, I was wondering if it might also give me touch sensitivity on the piano (ie soft to loud) which it doesn't seem to at the moment when I use the midi facility, I shall see when the other midi cable arrives!
  6. So I have this Roland A90 stage piano which I was considering selling as I really wanted a full-size midi controller and wasn't sure how to use the Roland as its a bit old school. However its an awesome fully weighted beast of a keyboard that I got for an amazing price so I've persevered and got an eridol midi to usb interface. It works great and I'm chuffed but I have a question, I only need to go midi out to the eridol interface (which then goes into my Mac via one of its USB ports) for it to work fine, so what's the point of the midi out from the eridol and the midi in on the keyboard? I haven't tried it as I'm waiting on another midi cable but I was wondering why there's an in and out on old midi gear? cheers!
  7. I often use guitarpro but open the files with a program called Tux which is free, sounds are a bit dodgy but it’s a great way to learn bass lines super quick if you can read TAB
  8. Gave up on sure 58’s years ago, overpriced mediocre meh, ev’s and sennheisers are much better bang for buck these days
  9. jes@s. the rosebowl in southwest England? Who wrote that pile ofTosh, Roy Orbison?
  10. Elixirs are a good recommendation
  11. Wow never had anything remotely like that, rehearsal rehearsal rehearsal keeps it all tight, we rehearse every Wednesday even if we’ve been gigging all weekend , we know our PA inside out and any work about in the event of equipment failure, 10 years gigging in this band 400 odd gigs and nothing like that thank goodness!
  12. Thanks for that, when I used to record just the audio on an older zoom, I could load the track into my DAW of choice and master it with certain VST's to greatly improve the overall sound (vintage warmer, Isotope, etc). Is it possible to master the audio in iMovie, I have a mac and a PC so I could use other editing software such as Logic Pro which I have access to but I've never done video editing before so I'm not sure!
  13. About to pull the trigger on this one, for shooting vids at gigs to upload on our FB and youtube pages, anyone got one? I'm not splashing out on the 4K version when it all gets rendered down for social media and apparently the older version works better in low light stages as it stops down to F2 rather than 2.8 on the 4K version. Just wondered how people found them, and can you edit in say Garageband? Cheers! https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Zoom-Q2n-Handy-Video-Recorder/1R3L?origin=product-ads&campaign=PLA+Shop+-+GENERIC&adgroup=GENERIC&medium=vertical_search&network=google&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=81777d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=270628808326&gclid=CjwKCAjw7O_pBRA3EiwA_lmtfiv-y03qNEqPJQjinjCGotZ7NkidJAGkBum6Hsqb4IK_GAQec218ZxoC7ugQAvD_BwE
  14. Slap..the tumbleweed of basschat!
  15. Their rusty bucket sounds dreadful!
  16. pretty much the only reason I keep playing bass is for gigging, can't see the point of it otherwise. Guitar I could happily play at home or with mates around the campfire but the bass is an ensemble instrument IMO and only sounds decent in the context of a band. That said, I could listen to Bobby Vega play solo all day so Im talking tosh really, but the general rule applies!
  17. If I lost my basses and had to start again on that sort of budget I think I'd seriously look at the Sire Marcus Miller range, never tried one but folk rave about them on here for bang per buck. There's one here for under £200 which is silly money https://www.andertons.co.uk/sire-marcus-miller-v3-4-string-in-black-v34bk?lgw_code=16284-V34BK&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjrvpBRC0ARIsAFrFuV9W7vlETuIIqOrGBAE96pKpCvVQ7FBqxPKy1U_uAsuNpp3fP2j1igQaAv7vEALw_wcB
  18. at least they didn't call it a D-Rik.
  19. Dropped a few venues over the years, usually if they're really poorly attended (and I mean really quiet), horrible landlord, a bit rough, rubbish money, and especially if they have a bad load in/out. We now have about a dozen established venues we play regular gigs with, the excitement comes with finding a new venue to play in a new town or village.
  20. easy, can i say what it is?
  21. I've got JJ's in my SVT, very happy with the result.
