  1. Tom Misch last night in Bristol, I was by some distance the oldest person there, decent enough band, far too heavy on the bass sub (what a surprise) and Misch had the personality of a lobster, but the kids seemed to love it, some chap called Loyle Carner (?) showed up as well, not a clue who he was but everyone went nuts, felt very out of place!
  2. If it's just for fun and recording at home (as it says in the OP) then reaper will be fine, with regard to bundled effects and instrument plugins, there are 1000's of decent quality free ones available as VST's should you need them.
  3. you're welcome, btw I'm loving the jazz
  4. seeing Tom Misch in Bristol tomorrow (lads birthday present) but I'm quite looking forward to it!
  5. Reaper...someone will be along to agree or not. It's cheap and you can demo it for completely free until you decide you want to pay for it. It can be as simple or complicated as you want but I've used loads of DAW's and this one was the most stable, If you had a mac I'd have said GarageBand, that's even better but Reaper for a PC is ace.
  6. new strings? Made a huge difference to my tone, got some DR highbeams, happy again.
  7. Red Clay by Freddie Hubbard, insane playing
  8. you could get a nice gypsy style caravan for 4K, pretty similar.
  9. That's lovely, a bit like mine (not original though) which also weirdly came from France! have a bump..
  10. wow, sounds amazing, cool as dude as well
  11. Mo, as in No...Mo...g
  12. So...I've been pretty much just using my old Peavey TNT combo as backline with my DHA valve preamp into the desk/RCF PA, all from my Fender Jazz with DR Hi beams, sounds glorious to my ears. My full fat Ampeg SVT-CL and 410 HLF sits unloved in the corner of the room looking over at me with reproach in its eyes, I'm seriously thinking the unthinkable, somebody stop me..please..
  13. and a tube pre..
  14. singer A will or should improve with time, singer B will never change his fundamental personality flaws, ie late to reply, no real input etc, to me its a no brainer.
  15. Try changing the strings before you spend serious money.
  16. Hope I get a couple of days free extra membership!
  17. my next set will be the nano's, got them for my guitars and they're amazing.
  18. nearly as nice as my jazz
  19. If Im honest I made a bit of a fuss about how when i got rid of my comp it sounded absoloutely no different and therefore wasn't needed and it was all a bit of snake oil etc. But it's quietly made a reappearance on my pedal board, I'm not sure why but I think it's when we play some really quiet phrases during the set I missed having control over the dynamics, and the comp provides just that, more control over the peaks, as you say it doesn't really alter the sound at all so it's not an effect as such but it makes playing during the set just that bit easier.
  20. lovely, if i didn't have too many etc etc...
