  1. Hmm to your average pub punter, as long as its not too loud, or quiet, not too muddy or too distorted, they couldn't care less if Im lugging my heavy valve rig or DI'ing straight into the desk, I only choose for my own pleasure.
  2. not a particularly nice sounding bloke but he did give his services for free and he's some player
  3. looks amazing, can you tell us how much the mods came to?
  4. nearly as naff as wearing a hat! Only kidding! Have fun with them!
  5. Now you've made me need to go and learn Niteklub, thanks...
  6. wow, one of the very first albums I bought on cassette was Jazz Funk ( I was about 18) had a massive influence on me at the time.
  7. possibly the worst cover art though! Actually that belongs to that Gillan travesty!
  8. Heaven and hell is fantastic, used to be my fave in the 80s, then I "got" Ozzy..
  9. Thanks that what I just got from my local guitar shop today so now sorted, thanks for the help!
  10. possibly the best sab album (to me at least)
  11. Hi all daft question but I need a toggle switch tip (looks like a cone)for a newly aquired stingray 5 (its just the sharp bare metal shaft at the moment) I ordered a strat like one off ebay but it doesn't fit (too small), Tried everywhere to find one, no luck, anyone have an idea where I might be able to get one? Thanks!
  12. With regard to the "plenty of promises to rebook" line, I can tell you that never happens unless you strike while the iron is still hot, ie phone, not email if you can help it, with diary in hand the very next morning or even at the gig if you have the diary to hand, and get them to book you in there and then. The amount of times we used to have "you guys were awesome, we'll deffo having you back...I'll call you!".....
  13. Keep my PA in the (unheated) garage, theres some airflow, so no damp, been working ok for years, so long as its dry, I don't think temperature really matters.
  14. another thumbs up for Ampband, did it last year, you just never know!
  15. That was extremely lucky but I'd imagine it was possibly a deflection? There's no way a wooden guitar a couple of inches thick would stop an automatic assault rifle round
  16. Just did a trade with Matt for his Stingray 5, an absoloute gent and a pleasure to deal with, he came over to me in Devon all the way from Wiltshire and we had a deal in 5 minutes, couldn't recommend him enough, deal in confidence!
  17. Hi Folks Up for sale our Behringer X Air 18 Digital Mixer, also comes with a notebook loaded with the software, so essentialy plug n play ready. Im after £450 which is about £100 off new plus we'll throw in the tablet which cost £50. Its about a year old, done about 30 gigs no problems, in very good condition. Reason for selling? Well, we're a pretty straightforward rock 3 piece and this is beyond our comfort zone, there's a lot of possibilities here that we don't have the time or patience to master so we want to go back to analogue desks, all we need is a little reverb on the vocals and thats it, this does a whole, whole lot more. Willing to shift a little on the price but please no p*ss taking! Thanks for looking!
  18. OK a quick silly rant, Im listening to this right now and its frankly brilliant (not put it on in 20 years) and then I read this review from some plonker from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/x4xm/ He's talking nonsense (apart from the drug abuse!) Its a FAB album, rant over, thanks for reading, I feel much better now
  19. a 50W marshall valve head will be insanely loud as Lefty has said, our guitarist is currently using a 40w marshall valve combo for gigging and easily keeps up with my 300W all valve Ampeg Stack, so very very loud and you will need to crank it to get the sweet spot. For home use and recording you really only need to go to a 20W valve head such as a Blackstar, or TBH this would be perfect for low volume sweet tone https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blackstar-HT5-Head-Valve-Guitar-Amp/323016871549?hash=item4b354e4e7d:g:K~QAAOSwAWlaY3Bj
  20. I think it might be the fact that she's kicking off about no support for the support acts that might be grating with a few on here. Not knowing how that would work with time availability for the interpreter etc means I don't really have an opinion, but having seen some truly awful support acts for big headliners, its got me feeling a bit annoyed but I can't really explain why!
  21. Yeah we use the RCF 310's as monitors, they're ace, and the 315's as PA speakers
