1. comedians the lot of you! will actually try opening it up and finding the problem, thanks for all the er...help! PS already got a Precision, it sounds loads better but got a big fat neck so crap for gigging right?
2. Hi Folks I know ther could be several reasons for this but any ideas gratefully recieved. Ive tried the bass through several amps without effects and different cables and its the same buzz. When I touch the strings the noise increases considerably, especially with the bridge pickup selected only, when both pickups selected its still there but not so bad, when I turn off the tone control off it diminishes further (but its still there). I guess its a grounding issue? Im useless with tec stuff!
3. tap tempo for strobe, moving "robot" heads and fade in/out maybe? Aso haze/fog activation would be ace.
4. i know i woudn't want to hear my attempts at any solo!!!
5. is it any good for?....never mind!
6.
Plymouth
7.
Have you heard the Phil X cover of superstition? All sorts of good stuff! ...IMO anyway
liking that, great voice
8.
We do a mashup of Smoke On The water and Good Times/Rappers Delight. It goes down a storm.
every time i noodle that bassline (good times), the drummer points his sticks at me and frowns!
9. lovely, £600 in Thomann!
10. We used to play "Superstition" in the set list (cheesy) but it's thankfully been quietly dropped. I love the origional but I didn't think it worked as a rock song (we did the Beck Bogart Appice version). Anyway, as the guilty secret Disco loving diva in the band, does anyone do any rocked-up disco or soul numbers in their set, any suggestions? I saw a band years ago do a great rock version of Hot Chocolate's Everyone's a winner, for starters.
11.
Great stuff. I'm struggling to find a band up t'north Devon.
seen a couple here https://www.lemonrock.com/ads.php
12. yep got one, it's ace, always on even with an all valve head, made in Devon too!
13. back to Mudpup's OP Reaper is brilliant for your tasks, fade in/outs, seperating tracks, normalising and converting etc.. Also get a few mastering / compressing free VST's for it http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2013/06/26/free-mastering-software/ and you can really improve the quality of your final live tracks.
14. you could try these guys http://www.surreyamps.co.uk/
15. Ive got a few cables that could do with replacing, but ive always fancied repairing them and fitting some with right angled jacks etc.. Ive an old soldering iron in the garage that i've used in the past to fix some stuff but its a bit rubbish TBH. Can anyone recommend a starters kit that includes fixing clamps? Also whats the correct wattage for this sort of work? And finally(!) what's the best solder type and guage for cable repairs? Many thanks!!!
16. interesting to note the price hikes! £225 this year, seems austerity never happened! As much a part of the circuit as Henley, Ascot, Wimbledon etc, posh kids partything, utter bollo*ks, makes me almost nostalgic for the 80's when you could jump the fence, sell drugs and be generally loutish.
17. One bass for gigging, that's it. Spare strings (old ones) in the case, never broken a string in 20 years. Di box in case amp dies (that's happened a few times!) If the axes dies, well thats it for the gig i guess (unless the landlords got a spare) but hasn't happened yet! Cant much go wrong with a passive really, nothing a screwdriver and the drummers soldering iron coudn't fix on the night!
18.
I think there's a similar concept used for drummers with a stool that transmits vibrations through the players body while playing. The one guy I've seen use it (The Zombies drummer) raves about it, says he can't live without it!
Yep our drummer uses one, he also raves about it, it goes under his stool and up through his arse, horrible really...
19. come on this has been done to death! there's only one place to go really http://bassic-bits.co.uk our very own obbm
20. HLF 410 is 4 ohms, goes very low and quite light (compared to my old warwick 410) plus has castors but not too much sparkle (great for old style rock and soul)
21. VT 2 pedal saved my bacon a few times now, after amps have died, just Di to desk, sounds great! A lot easier than carrying a spare amp.
22. watford valves if you need em replacing https://www.watfordvalves.com/
