1. Afternoon I have for sale 1 Beg AE2x10's. In perfect working order. These cabs are as brilliant as their name implies. Responsive, loud and amazing low end definition. Ive been gigging them for 5 years as my main rig and can handle all styles of music. Both in really good condition and aside from a few chips are both working perfectly. Both have the berg covers. Only selling as I'm not needing to compete with massive Blackstar and Marshall amps any more so not getting any use. I AM UNABLE TO OFFER POSTAGE !! £385 I am based in Birmingham, so can meet locally. 2. I can highly recommend Discogs or if you have a local record shop, they will usually pop in and give you a price
3. At this stage in my musical life I'd have to say: 1. People I can stand to be around 2. Level of nerdy knowledge 3. Musicality 4. Enjoyment
4.
We banned ourselves from the Royal Oak (I think?) in Erdington, all our friends band's had their cars damaged outside and or a bar fight during the gig, we played there twice without a problem and decided the chances of playing a third without a serious issue was slim!
How did you ever fit in there? I've played trad Irish nights there. It's quite an experience
5.
GreeneKing, Thank you for such a great post, I have been very absent from this forum for a while now, just having a dabble every now and then with it, this has mainly been due to having a diagnosed bout of depression and playing the bass guitar has just not been able for me really, to read what you had to say has inspired me to get myself in a gear and to get the bass out and get back on it. Hope all works well for you.
Good for you mate. You can always off load here. Your never alone.
6. What a brilliant post! Thanks for sharing your experiences, I hope your diagnosis gives you an opportunity to make sense of your experiences. There's no question on the importance of music and its impact on trauma. It's a powerful tool and comfort to many.
7. News like this is just so very sad. I can't imagine how his family and friends must feel. https://youtu.be/WZ3e8fvUIoI
8. Hello Sara It can be confusing. I'd check if the gig is supplying monitoring on stage, before spending to much. It's unusual to play somewhere and the PA supplier does not provide stage monitoring. A wireless guitar system, will only give you freedom to move around the stage. You will still need to send the signal from it somewhere. If you don't want the hassle of an amp. You should look at a preamp. This will at least give you give you some control over your tone, you could send you bass signal to it from your wireless system, then onto the main desk into the PA. Your IEM can run from a Signal from the main desk or (monitor desk depending on size of gig). You will then have a mix of your bass and whatever other instrument/ vocals you require. These are a good preamp/Di /Behringer-BDI21-V-Tone-Bass-Preamp I'm sure you'll get lots of advice from the BC. Massive
9. Sold Alex a couple of amp heads. Effortless and super efficient transaction. Deal with complete confidence KP
10.
Done. Doesn't take long, and is interesting enough, for those that do home recording or studio work. A pleasant, non-stuffy, approach to surveys.
Appreciate your time, and far superior description
11. Hello all If you have a spare 5 mins could you take this Survey. It's for my bro studying in the states. Thanks in advance https://www.surveylegend.com/survey/#/d29yZHByZXNzMjQyMjI=~-KjA2U7VSIhWQ8i__MAs
12.
As is not giving a f*** about whether somebody has good reason to be upset or offended by something it would appear.
Well said! What is it about people who don't mind using negative terms to describe others. If someone is offended by a comment you make, be it deliberately or otherwise don't blame them for being offended by your comments. It's well evidence that these brave people only feel free, whilst there fingers are on a keypad and they are not confronted by the impact of their comments and how they make others feel. " I don't mind offending others as long as they are not in my presence, as I wouldn't want to offend anyone" SFC
13. For many many years I've been using my index, middle and ring finger to play. Often its my index and ring finger. Initially i moved to this as a kid because Billy Sheehan had that shred thing going on. As time went on i realised my index and ring finger are the same length so my playing style was much straighter/flatter than my index and middle finger, which as my middle finger is about 10mm longer, meant i had to place my hand at quite an angle to play consistently with my index and middle finger. Ive found that using index and ring finger means my middle finger is free and poised to move to the next string really quickly. Any one else experienced this or uses this technique? ( please someone say yes or ill have to leave BS)
14. It spring so it's time for a clear out. Both amps in fully working condition. The Gk had a service last October. These are both brilliant workhorses, great tones and power. Collection or meet up only. I'm in Birmingham B14. EBS HD350 £300 GK 700RB £300
15. It was also used by Big Audio Dynamite in this tune. Kicks in at 1.36. Nice to hear the original version https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BR9flFVy8DM
16. If Wal needed a player to present its basses capabilities, this is surely him. I saw him first in the amazing stump. In late 80's I bought a Wal on the back of that gig. Player!!!! https://youtu.be/I02dRmOoC2U
17.
Became a bit 'black' for my liking - always revolving around opression and such. I've never judged funk (or people for that matter) on colour, but the program did and I feel sorry for whoever thinks it's a colour thing. Hope that's not too controversial but it's weird being white and being conditioned into thinking you like 'black music'. WTF?
Who's doing the conditioning Mr T.?( ironic) The arrangements, notes used, musicality and attitude comes primarily from the fact these musicians were predominantly ( not always) black musicians. These same notes etc are open to every genre of music to use and interpret how they wish. No one can ignore the impact years of oppression and conditioning has had on the formulation of black identity. Maybe the best thing to do is,listen to music with our ears and not our eyes.
18. Pretty much my whole musical career has been a massive disappointment to my parents. I wanted guitar lessson so took up classical guitar instead of " normal" guitar. In school I chose trombone above trumpet. I moved to bass guitar. I think my mom only heard the word guitar. One night she had lots of friends over and said go and get your guitar so they can hear you play. Imagine my excitement, ran upstairs to grab my K bass and sunno)) amp. Lugged it all down stairs and played my version of dazed and confused by Led Zep. I would guess I was 6 bars in and the plug was pulled. My mom sent me packing saying " I thought you said you played guitar" !!!!
19. Chainey do. The pointer sisters. You have to check this tune out!!
20.
Why not just apologise anyway? And while you're at it, edit your first post and take off the link. Because essentially this is a form of cyber bullying. It's completely unfair to rip apart and humiliate a person who has innocently posted a video of something they are proud of.
Have to agree. BC is not about putting down Players of any standard. It's about sharing the bass world. When she is up to speed like Mr Harris, well all be hailing her speed
21. I'm with you all. It's taken me years to master fretless having bought and sold many. Thankfully I'm fully converted and my Zon never leaves my side. It challenged me to control both hands, with finger position for the left hand and pressure for the right. It's a different animal. Very rewarding though.
22. I get what you mean, although I still watch it as there's really isn't another music show around. I tend to record and fast forward at my leisure. I miss "the tube" that was such a great show. I did really enjoy Courtney Marie Andrews. Her new album is wonderful if that's your thing.
23.
People get changed to play?
Yeah. I change into Jaco !
24. When your not changing in the toilets 😀
