    New strings have made my bass sound awful! Any one else had this?

    I've had this experience with the same strings, although 4 string set. I could not understand what had changed. I asked myself:

    1. Had I bought the same gauge
    2. Had I affected set up/ studs rod
    3. Did I stretch the strings enough
    4. Had I wound the strings correctly so the pressure was on the nut correctly

    Having eliminated these, I simply left the bass alone for a few days. As I thought I had the original string sound so fixed in my head, that I was driving myself mad with disappointment. I played a different bass for a few days, then went back to the newly strung bass. It was better to a point I had to slightly adjust tone, but I think I got there.

    I find John carruthers clips are brilliant. Well worth a watch as "in John we trust" I've learnt lots about re stringing and set up from the smooth voiced luthier.

    Hello all

    This issue really confuses me.

    I have acquired a 500w head at 4 ohms as a back up. It has one speakon connector at the back. I want to know how I link it to my two 2x10 8 ohm bergs. It is from the head into one cab then link 1st to the 2nd? Or do I have to use just one cab?

    My main head is easy it has 2 speakons. I can just about manage that 😀

    Agencies gigs whats the score?

    Morning all.

    The drummer of one of the bands I'm in,which plays classic Disco and funk, really wants us to get media pack together to approach agencies. My question to my fellow chatters is.

    Whats the benefit of agencies? who are the best ones and what should we look out for?

    For sale this wonderful SWR SM 500 head. These are a wonderful head and extremely versatile and loud. I've never pushed it past 9 o'clock in any situation. its such a well thought out head with an amazing eq. SWR really produced a great sounding head and a lovely colour as well!

    Im selling to fund a smaller head.

    For trade this stunning Warwick Thumb bass from 1990.

    All original with MEC pickups. Currently strung with elixir nano web strings 3 months ago. This is one of the early Warwick's from the period where the build quality and craftsmanship was at its best. It has amazing warmth and growl in the sweep of the tone controls.

    it has a knock on the head stock between the two machine heads ( see pic), comes with soft case

    Im really looking for a trade:

    3eq MM, Sandberg TM, Sadowsky and streamers. Im after 4 string basses only please. I can add monies for the right bass, or you give me money, i don't mind :)
