1. Impressive. What is even more impressive is your determination to learn Aqua tunes
2. Nothing too constructive here, but fantastic song!

4. Nope, but I thought the machine heads/tuners on my first bass were plastic.
5. Would love to buy a Stingray, really would. Only my hands are quite small and I couldn't get on with my old P-bass. Never tried a 'Ray so not sure if it will be the same. Beautiful bass
6. Jay Bentley - Bad Religion
7. I have a hard case for every bass. Just the one!
8.
NEVER!!!!!!!!! There's no need for this whatsoever - and for some people it distracts them from playing in time. I can't imagine not tapping my foot. If you're not tapping your foot then you've got to be moving some other part of your body. IMV if you aint moving, you aint feeling it - and if you aint feeling it, how do you expect a listener to.
Depends on the individual, I reckon. Sometimes I can really lock in and feel my foot tapping in time. Other times, even though I'm in time, the foot isn't going, but perhaps my head is. Sometimes my foot movement is out of time, but I haven't been.
9. As you can see, quite a few Bristolians on here. I live there too, but I'm a northerner really Welcome
10.
Keep it musical Sometimes that means simple. Sometimes it doesn't. 'Being a bass player means getting off on making other people sound good' - Robert Hurst III (Branford and Wynton Marsalis). It takes what it takes. If the part screams sixteenth note unison lines, then nail it. It its minims, nail it. If its triplet 5's against 4, nail it. Play the music, not the instrument. The more I study music, the more the notes matter and the less important the instruments and players are. Serve the music not the id.
Have to agree with all of this. I'm starting to understand it, now.
11. I have a 201 on my Jazz bass and it's great value for the money, easier to find and improved the sound of my bass.
12. This was September 2009 so I presume so!
13.
+1 on stamina, not so much on hysteria but new born really gets me after a few times through the verse.
How could I forget! The verse is a b*tch to get right and up to speed (without losing my right hand).
14. Precisions provide a real support role - sitting right under the mix. Jazz cuts through a little more, with more distinct highs and less dominance under the mix.
15.
I think Chris Wolstenholme's stamina is the thing that impresses me most. Some of his bass lines require just a considerable amount of strength to actually play for extended periods of time. Not a great fan of Muse but I do happen to think he's a very inventive bass player and a considerable influence on younger musicians. I couldn't quantify how difficult or easy his stuff is though, what's easy for some is difficult for others.
Have to agree here. I can play Hysteria but only for a minute or so before my right hand is gone. He has tonnes of stamina.
16.
Yup, I'm in. C'mon you Bristol massive, it's only half an hour down the road.
I'm in. Although I don't have much gear, etc. I can bring my 70s Jazz bass.
17. Precisely! I can get some free food and shelter at the show anyway
18.
Hopefully!!Hopefully!! Come on get a grip man..
I'll have you know I'm a busy student!
19. Should be going too, hopefully
20. Aye, he's used Fender for a few years - moving between Jazz and Precisions but I think he plays mainly a Geddy Lee sig nowadays. The Spector really had bite, especially in some songs in Good Apollo 1, but the mid scoop really didn't help in some cases, particularly 'Welcome Home'. But I'm being picky, the tone was great.
21. He was the reason I got a Spector (from the Good Apollo I album - the tone was SO damn good!)
22. I've found a cool video Mic Todd is a great inspiration and I found this interesting. Hope it's useful to some!
23.
Karl Alverez - "Serve the song"
Nice. Quality bass player too!
24. +1 to Talk, Talk. Ten Speed - Coheed and Cambria Speculative Fiction - Propagandhi
25. I've never had any bass lessons and none of my family are musicians and haven't give me advice. But something that I've picked up through listening to songs and browsing the web; let the song breathe.
