1. Reasonably simple to replace. Though I rate my chops, my music theory knowledge is tosh.
2.
A teeny-tiny band from royal canadia: It's an amazing EP in it's own right, but for a first release from a young band it's astonishing. I really look forward to their future releases.
Nice, I like it.
3. Funky ass track from their newest album.
4.
I live right next to PMT Oxford, and they are all very friendly helpful guys. I bought my Ashdown MiBass and audio interface there, and they have been great at helping me with any questions I have (especially Fi, their bass guy). They have a pretty decent selection of bass stuff, and I have never had a problem with asking to try stuff out, even the 1600 quid MMs, lol. My only issue with them is that for some odd reason they don't keep a regular stock of short (i.e. under 10m) speakon cables, which is quite annoying sometimes. I can't comment on the online service, as I have never had to use it, but I have ordered stuff into the store before, which has always arrived quickly.
I pass PMT Oxford daily and popped in there for advice regarding cleaning my frets and they were really helpful about it and gave me some free masking tape, which is always nice! They seem helpful.
5. Girls on Film and Rio are great. Ghost note mania. Night Boat for the cool harmonic bass intro. Lonely in your Nightmare for the melodic bass rundowns.
6. I think the Far Cry bassline (particularly the verse) is great, so S&A.
7. Mic Todd (Coheed & Cambria) John Taylor (Duran Duran) Nate Mendel (Foo Fighters) Juan Alderete (Mars Volta among others) Dave Ellefson (Megadeth)
8.
Incubus - A certain shade of Green album is a stonker for funky basslines. In fact any of theirs up til and including the Morning View album is all very very good!
SCIENCE is an amazing album, yes - and DIrk Lance played some really funky stuff up to and inc. Morning View, as you said. Still, Ben Kenney is no slouch and Incubus have been great since then too - IMO - minus possibly the newest album.
9. Wow, this is meta!
10. New Scroobius Pip album 'Distraction Pieces'
11. Planet Earth (need crazy stamina ) and Anyone Out There (but needs perfecting!) both by Duran Duran
12. Born on a Horse - Biffy Clyro. I believe the original 'bassline' is actually keys.
13. What are the neck widths like on SUBs compared to - say, a 70s Jazz bass? I can't really handle chunky necks.
14. I can vouch for the quality of these basses. Great bang for the buck.
15.
That's the one. They still rocked, mind!
They did! Bri's my main inspiration to get a Stingray (well, a Sterling** due to my small hands)
16.
Great player, great band. I've seen them twice live and they were bloody brilliant both times. His 'ray got lost in the mix a bit when they played the O2 in Bristol, though.
The most recent one with Pennywise and Strike Anywhere? Yeah, he was drowned out a little. I was at the front on the right!
17. Funkay
18. Brian Robinson from A Wilhelm Scream is just insane, IMO. They play melodic hardcore / punk if anyone wishes to check the videos out. Check out the verse tapping and bass runs: More tapping? About 22 seconds into this.. insane bass runs Fair enough if the music isn't your thing. Any other Robinson fans?
19.
Solid as f***.
Damn right! I've only just got into them, really.
20. Introduce Yourself - Faith No More
21. Land of Sunshine - Faith No More
22.
I'll bring my Eminence EUB and my LM II/BFM Omni10.5 rig. I can bring my EBMM Sterling as well if anyone's interested?
Oh, please!
